As a software developer, SED Systems has a great focus on developing their procedures and processes to streamline technical development. Their adherence to the Software Development Life Cycle ensures that the necessary stages of software development are reached and their end product is as good as they can possibly make it.

The culture at this company is excellent in certain groups as well as they strive to build a more youthful and energetic software workforce with a focus on employee happiness, work-life balance, and skillset development. Potential for advancement is high in this company and is eagerly supported by upper management.

Regular raises and large brackets allow for high incomes and merit-based rewards.

The salary is higher than the average, that's one good thing.

The software team expanded too fast, and management is not able to catch up to the changes, causing numerous issues.

Opinions of developers were mostly ignored by management. Decision making were mostly done by the top few people, with no inputs from developers.

Tasks were often time assigned to people who have no ideas how to do it, and with no directions beside asking them to go figure it out themselves.

Micromanagement becomes the norm when budget becomes tight, causing high stress to developers. Time assigned to tasks were often unreasonable.

Most of the code were only known to senior developers, causing them to be busy all the time.

Inadequate training/improvement plan for developers.

Technical debt has been piling up, causing numerous bugs to appear.

A typical day in this work includes basic electronic assembly, two 15 minute breaks and an unpaid half hour lunch, and a high priced cafeteria with not so great food.
The majority of the manufacturing floor management are straight forward and clear with their needs. Be prepared for a cold, impersonal attitude from HR once you get the job. 
The hardest part of the job is the current lack of work and the manner of lay-offs. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is the co workers. We are used to moving from project to project and pretty good at adapting to working with anyone.

Most important is the great people to work with at SED very team orientated environment. SED delivers High tech Systems all over the world. 
 The Hardest part of the job is to meet the challenges of delivering these systems all over the world with great quality and in a timely fashion. This is partly due to the international trade laws and different customs rules of different countries.
 The most enjoyable part for me is knowing i have met these challenges and played a part in delivering our products and systems on time.

Short staffed, and going through growing pains.

Management is awesome. Work life secondary to personal life. Input was valued and nobody ever lost their temper or was unkind in any way.  Perhaps a little unorganized, but we were doing prototype work, so it was understandable. Other than pay, I really really like working here.

Great work environment with an awesome team to work with.  Great attitudes all around the whole staff.  The amount of tasks given to you, provided you with limitless amount tasks, keeping you from doing the same thing over and over again.

SED Systems is responsible for making sure satellite systems and communication within the army are always working. 
They also a produce various items necessary.

No support or communication from team leads or managers. Coworkers and superiors will routinely pass blame on new employees if possible. This has resulted in an apathetic, unmotivated group of employees. Hard work isn’t rewarded.
