A typical day would consist of many audits and meetings for myself with the OHS team. I took on the role as their safety officer and was able to help the company succeed in their compliance to legislation by auditing each production area including asbestus removal. Re-writing many procedures and instructions and training the employees was a great asset to the company and having everyone work well together as a team was a big bonus! 

On of the hardest parts of the job would have to be masking up to audit the production facility while in danger of HF fluid, and Uranium. Again, having a great team that works well together and understanding, these tasks were managed well. 

Cameco PHCF is a respectable work place and a great team environment for any position in the company! 

Here are some examples of the tasks I would do at Cameo PHCF:
- Interpret and enforce compliance to the company safety program and provincial occupational, health and safety regulations.
- Conduct safety orientations and training sessions.
- Schedule and conduct regular onsite safety meetings, audits and inspections.
- Identify hazardous work situations and take corrective action to remedy the situation.
- Administer the W.H.M.I.S. program.
- Post safety policies, bulletins and posters at job sites to support a safe work environment.
- Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is used and used in a safe manner by trained
personnel.
- Lead the investigation of all personal injury and property damage accidents and near misses.
- Prepare incident reports and recommendations for corrective action.
- Develop effective safety practices and procedures.
- Collect and compile safety statistics and prepare site safety reports for submission to the Cor-
porate Safety and Health Committee.
- Keep current with changes in safety regulations and improvements to work practices and advise
site personnel accordingly.

With the volatility in the resources market and especially with uranium, Cameco was always a highly pressured environment with a focus on cost savings and optimization.

Since joining the company, I witnessed two major down-sizing exercises where hundreds of people lost their jobs.  While I understand the need to re-organize, it applied a lot of pressure to colleagues to ensure that they performed and achieved the outcomes expected of them.

Setting the stress and pressure aside, the organization was very dynamic and offered great opportunities for staff to accelerate in their roles.  I was lucky to be one of those individuals and with hard work, I was always rewarded.  I was promoted in a very short period of time.

Cameco was at the forefront of technology which made working in the environment extremely dynamic.  Change was implemented quickly and you had to keep up with the direction the organization was taking knowing that it could change at any time.

A diverse company where I can as a electrical engineer deploy my technical skills to the fullest. Electrical design of underground power distribution, surface building HVAC systems and controls.
Management was committed and forth right in its support of team development regarding project development work.
Worked diligently with my co workers to get the job done. Willing to provide support to all co workers, which resulted in a good repertoire of good will and job satisfaction, between subordinates, co-workers and management.    
Project work locations where in mining camps in Northern Saskatchewan, which was remote from my place of work at Cameco's Main Saskatoon Office. This become problematic for an expedient resolution of camp site technical problems.

I was employed at a small site within the company with only a few hundred employees.  The people employed there have been amazing and were always willing to mentor and assist whenever needed.  Most of the employees were friends outside of work and organized events in and out of work where employees would get together and socialize.  The company provided schedule options and flexible hours.  Your birthday is a paid day off and you receive a gift every year if the site has maintained a no LTA record.  In the years after the Fukushima incident and the downturn of the nuclear industry, the corporate culture has begun to change and not for the better.  Recently before I retired, most of the perks had been taken away in the name of cost saving and the new "do more with less" corporate slogan had strained relationships between departments and between employees and management.

Time at Rabbit lake was great, there was a great set of guys to work with and the knowledge that was gained from their experience was priceless. Always felt at home when at work, bosses were good to deal with, the safety culture was a ten compared to other places of work. There were lots to do when not at work like weights or other activities that were put up by the ptarmigan club. Summertime was great for the fishing. The people that were part of the site are what made it a great place to work you had people of all races working together with a common goal to get that ore out of the ground and processed for shipping in a safe manner. Sure there were some incidents but which site or company does not have these happen, corrective actions were usually immediately dealt with thus making the site a very strict yet safe site to work at.

Fly into site and start work by greeting them through orientation, followed by all the paperwork. From here I review the training schedule for the week and view what I need to accomplish in my week. Usually, a course will or may need to be developed or reviewed.

I had the pleasure and opportunity to witness a mine transition from a project with just a shaft to going into production. Lots of interesting challenges in my time there, with the shaft first flooding and then the mine. To witness and participate in all of these issues was amazing. 

This could not have come together without the support of management, workers and outside vendors working together to bring this mine to life and it was a challenge.

The people were amazing, they were my second family. That job was one that I will look back on and feel proud that I was a part of.

Cameco is a diverse place to work with a wide range of personalities. Initial direction of my role was a functional role involved in the development of the Scheduling aspect of Project Controls department. There were several highly helpful individuals involved in this work who made working at Cameco very exciting and rewarding. Upon transitioning into the Senior Site Planner role I became more involved with Construction Management and their Northern Sites. Our CMT was a wealth knowledge and experience and I feel the involvement with this group has made a huge impact and increased my expertise greatly.

Back in this company's glory days, pre Fukushima, it was an excellent place to work. It is a far cry from that today. Gross mismangement from the top down drove this company into the ground. Unfortunately only the front line employees were affected in the end. Favoritism was pretty common and led to a disgruntled work force at times. It's very sad knowing what this company could have been with some better people in charge. Pay and benefits were tops in the industry. Although management were clueless most of the time, they were still friendly and approachable. Co-workers mostly all got along really well. Very safe place to work for the most part.

The people where super supportive.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The failure for the company to address bullying and harrassement of management in the Training health safety department. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture is pretty good people are nice small town feel.  I believe a lot of great people, hard working.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Availability of various shifts very nice to have, four day weeks, the people in the plant very goods always supporting the nature of our work.
