Cami Automotive

I was hired as a student in the summer to work the assembly line. I was put in the very first team, and I kept up as best as I could. I'd never worked on an assembly line before this job. I was definitely improving each day but the physical pain i was in from using my hands for 10 hours a day almost nonstop, as well as standing & bending so much was crazy. I left early one day after seeing the on-site doctor (notified my team's management) and then never got sent my schedule for the next week. I called and emailed but never heard anything back, even when I was told they would talk to my team's management directly. It left me in a tough spot where I had to get another job on the fly. I'm not sure what happened but it left a sour taste in my mouth. 

Rotating every 2 hours through 6 to 8 jobs learned per team.  Learned how to work as a group and singly. Learned to do the job right according to documentation. Learned that quality is number one after safety . Management was very much present, continually monitoring job performance. Very clean, safe and structured work environment. Hardest part of the job was working for 6 days a week as we did Saturdays mandatory for 8 of the last years I was there. Very hard on your body and personal life. Most enjoyable part was the people I worked with and the cameraderie per team.

This job is one that allows you to work with a variety of different people and equipment. You are on a production line and you have to build vehicles. One stage of building is divided up into many jobs for individuals to do. You may be placed on a specific team. If so your daily job is regular. If not then you have to bounce around from team to team. You work with many different people and have the ability to learn a vast variety of jobs and skills. speed is definitely a skill that is required and tested on a daily bases.

Keep your nose clean, do your work and make sure your job detail is complete.

Management was both good and bad, similar to any other place.

I learned fast reflexes, multitasking and teamwork.

Co-workers were on the whole, great people.

The hardest part was learning each new job quickly and efficiently.

The most enjoyable part of the job was credit for innovation and Supervisors praise for solid work ethic.

Big factory. Kind of intimidating. But lots of work and lots of friendly people to meet. Decent team leads. Repetitive work. Laid back in terms of clothing, as long as you're not wearing anything that could damage the vehicles. Can listen to music/podcasts, etc while working. Ear plugs optional.

A little stressful sometimes. But I enjoyed working there and working with my co workers.

I really enjoy working at Cami because I am constantly learning new jobs.I am on a team of 10 people and we rotate jobs through out the shift. I also work independently on a single job from 1-2 hours. I can be counted on to train new employees or employees that have transferred from another team or department.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The wages are fantastic for having a limited education.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There are a lot of layoffs as its automotive 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The relationship between management and production is amazing. I’ve never worked for such a great company

Spent 6 years at cami. Its great pay, good benefits, and a great 30 and out retirement plan, and the people are awesome! Due to production cuts, retooling and the whole covid situation i spent a-lot of time laid off unfortunately, and i just couldn’t  financially handle it anymore and had to move on.

I believe Cami as a whole is a good example of diversity among the workers. Everybody is respectful of the other individuals the work here. The new electric vehicle coming to cami should ensure job security for all employees.


Cami Automotive is a fast pace environment. It is critical to be an quick yet efficient learner in order to keep up with the supply and demand of the job. This is something that I have learned and become very good at.
