Camp White Pine

A typical day at work for a Drama Staff at Camp White Pine is long, creative and fun. Your day consists of; working with Children of varying ages on blocking 30 minute musicals, building the set for the show, painting it, collecting props, assisting with/creating choreography, running lights and sound, and interacting with your peers. Each day holds something new and exciting. 
It is a place where you work as a team while being required to bring your special set of skills to work each day. You become very close with your colleagues in this department as you spend the entire day, and often days off, together. You create friends for life. 
Beginning around 10am each day and sometimes not completing your days work till midnight or later, it is crucial to be understanding and flexible. Everything you do is for the benefit of the children. We pride ourselves in the effort we put into each show. We are one of the only camp sections with an immovable deadline each week. It is an extremely rewarding job for those willing to work and expand their creativity and skill set each day. 
The challenges are new each day. It is a job that must be met with energy, enthusiasm and understanding. 
The management is fun to work for and they are understanding of the odd working hours. 
You work with a different age group each week, as well as a different show. 
It is a job that requires common sense as well as 'out of the box' thinking and problem solving.

- Overnight camp for two months - one day off every week
- A typical work day consisted of waking up in a cabin of you, a few costaff, and 12-15 small campers, and spending the day with them or going to work on an activity
- I was on the acitivity of Arts and Crafts, so everyday I would go work there, work with various campers, teach them new skills, help them complete new projects, and see the smile on their faces when they did what they loved
- Workplace culture had strict rules, but was very understandable, and was a happy work culture
- Hardest part of the job was the long hours and extra night activities I had to do, instead of hanging out with the campers who's cabin I slept in
- Most enjoyable part of job was the relationships I made with many different campers of different ages - which I still have today

Going back as a counsellor is like being a kid again. You get to meet, interact, and build friendships with the kids. The management all went to camp too, so they understand as counsellors we can't always follow the rules to a tee. Dealing with irate parents could get difficult, but they usually came around, and let their kid enjoy their time.
It was tough only having six days off all summer, but it's camp, to be expected

I have been going to Camp White Pine since I was a kid and it has always been like a home away from home for me and many others. It’s a place where you make friendships to last a lifetime and it is very easy to forget that this is work and not a vacation.

I worked as a staff member of the dining hall. The days were long, but I had a lot of fun because of the massive variety of activities that were made available to me.

I had an amazing first season at camp white pine. Great people, amazing environment, lots of activities to take part in on my off hours. Opportunity to work multiple seasons is available as well. 

I wouldn't call this work this was more of a volunteering experience. Buts basically every year Camp White Pine is for the new grade nines to go up north to meet new kids they will be with for the next four years. It is a welcoming place for all it helps kids get out of the shell and make new friends.

I gain lots of experience in the fast paced  kitchen in 4 months.
Learned about garde manger under executive chef.
Responsible for salad bar at the lunch time.
Making cookies, bread, cakes every morning under pastry chef.

Camp white pine is a great first job! I enjoyed all 4 of my summers there. I loved working with the youngest campers and had a nice relationship with the other staff and campers.

Camp white pine is a great place to work. I learned many skills there, mostly including business management skills. Overall great experience.
