Working at Campeau for a year was an interesting and for the most part an enjoyable experience. You have to be able to get along with kids in order to do this job, so you have to be prepared to deal with the sort of things excitable young children are prone to doing (standing up and running around on the bus, throwing things, picking on each other, etc.) The hours are usually pretty short, which can be a benefit or a drawback depending on what you're looking for; if you just want a part-time job to make a little extra cash, this is a pretty good option, but if you are looking for real full-time work and full-time pay, this might not be what you want. Considering the amount of responsibility you assume while transporting your passengers, I felt that the pay was a bit low, but unfortunately I think that's just the nature of this profession. Still, if you want a relatively easy job with few hours, there's worse places you can look.

Very rewarding in the terms of providing one on one relationship with parents of special needs students. Your route depends on where you live. Work day consists of time management and extreme safe and defensive driving. Staff safety and information meetings, paid. Hardest part of the job is traffic/weather and the end of the school year. Workplace is welcoming and informative. Management is professional and accommodating. I’ve learned that everyone has needs and it is important to recognize the day to day struggles and accomplishments these students endure each day.

manager seems to enjoy gossiping about employees to other employees.
Not an add on job , most routes are morning and afternoon. not much in between to do other stuff.
Lots of "volenteer" unpaid work hours  expected. such as fueling, time sitting waiting for bus in shop, find your own place  to park bus.They  only have parking for a couple busses .

When I was able to take the bus home before doing a charter the next day.

There was no stress about the job

It was great and people were great to work for.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Do circle check on the bus maybe do a school route but most of the time doing school trips

Workplace culture is typical for a School Bus Transportation Company. Several turnovers as this is the culture of School Busing as it is an interim job while looking for fulltime work.

Pay is bad.  Ottawa pays their drivers more than Bomanville drivers. Not fair as we all do the same job. They penny pinch everything. Need to pay drivers more money if they want to keep us. .  Lousy $14.00 an hour. Our HR department does nothing except cost the company money when they could be paying the drivers more if they got rid of HR in Quebec, who again do nothing for the drivers.

Because we are dealing with children and schools, Campeau is a very fast paced environment. The schools and boards are extremely demanding. Everyone automatically assumes that we are in the wrong prior to knowing any details. You must be organized and able to work in this type of stressful environment.

The management needs work, they don’t care about their employees and are not fair to work with, they fired me for a very unfair reason and took their van back without notice and didn’t pick up their key, I still have it. Been waiting for them to put it up 2+ years later. They also never paid me the minimum wage at the time. 

Sometimes busses are clean.
Sometimes busses are in good working order. You have no heads up when they change your bus so you end up running around looking for your bus only to find out you have to take another that is dirty. Sometimes filthy

Great place to work for! The management is super nice , friendly , and helpful. The pay is great and always on time. I would  work for them again if it's closer to where I live.
