You can pretty much tell when you pull in the yard what you are in for.
This location re- opened in 2021 after being closed for 5 years I believe.
It was implied that they were going to make improvements to it like a driver's room for lunches and an area to get changed etc but this will likely never happen.
If you don't mind rats, mice and whatever else creeps around then you might be ok.
Cobourg has the lowest output of all the ready mix plants so they get the worst equipment!
There is no mechanic to even address lights and you are expected to get your equipment fixed while at other plants but when you get sent to other plants you are there to run loads, not sit waiting for repairs so unless it is minor it probably won't happen and they tend to get upset with you for asking.
Their trucks are barely road worthy and some wouldn't be but you are expected to use what they have.
It's not a bad job but be very wary of joining in Cobourg!
It's the worst run yard they have.

Horrible management. HR seems to be running the show with bobblehead managers that cannot make a decision on their own to save a life. Made a mistake? suspended. Someone else made a mistake? Suspended. Accused of something and have witnesses to prove otherwise? Suspended or fired.  This place is about as toxic as a workplace can get. It was a good company at one point, but the perks have been getting cut. No more employee appreciation. Won't spend pennies to save thousands. Reactive instead of proactive. Foresee an issue?  Tell management. Management ignores or comes up with excuse to brush it under the table. Issue becomes problem? Management response is always "Why didn't you say something?"  No heart left in this company.  Anything positive heard about this company is just smoke and mirrors.

Its really laid back and fast paced at the same time when stuff needs ti be moving it just NEEDS TO BE MOVING, decent balance between hard work and easy work, down time and busy time. My biggest negative is you cant pick your coworkers! Daily OT decently pay for the industry with 0 work experience!

Tipical day for me the loader operator, starts by being first there opening the plant turn on power, water, ect unlocking doors sheds and gates, then loading bins with aggregate and sand, testing concrete, essentially some days were loading a truck every 20 minutes sometimes once an hour and then in between loading you essentially maintain the yard! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very friendly they give training in safety  great benefits never miss a payday and always there for you willing to work with all employees for your personal issues it’s a great experience 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No stress at all they don’t add stress they try not to put that on you

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is great also and the culture is very good it’s a very ethnic company 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Steer on time and leave when done no stress

The hardest part about the job is dealing with management and Dispatch, and and employees that like to slack off without getting caught yet they get recognized for good work, while other guys are coming in and putting in their days and not getting recognized.   It’s a very toxic culture. Guys are at each other’s throats, constantly looking for the glory.  safety is supposed to be their number one concern because it cost dollars and cents it really isn’t. Their equipment is lacking there’s no support for mechanics so you end up taking your vehicles out with issues.

Job was great at first. Were made to feel like you belong. Thats the first week. After that youre expected to know everything when your plant manager has no clue. Constant fights with manager because "well someone else said this".
Every plant is different. 
If managers were picked from the actual plants, not just some Quality Assurance person who barely knows what quality stone looks like. I'd stay away till this manager is gone. 

I learned not to talk to anyone because they all just talk about each other and rat each other out. 
Not a great place to work, I now know why they are hiring so much. No one trains you properly, you get maybe 2-3 days a week, they have a guarantee pay but I didn't even get that. Make a mistake and you are fired no matter if it is your mistake or the guy filling the cement into your truck....

Good group of guys to work with but the management has no respect for some drivers . Company is ran by Toronto so they do not really see what’s going on do yourself a favour go to a more private company where they respect the employees 

Great team from top to bottom. People work together in order to complete projects and make sure our customers are happy. There is a lot of time management that we as sales reps are given and it allows us to develop our days as we see fit.

I enjoy helping others, dealing with their concerns and helping to figure out the best solutions to their needs.  I am a good listener, quick thinker and have a calm manner.  I get along well with all of my co-workers and do exceptional work in fast paced environments.
