Canadian Blast Freezers

Terrible place to work. HR is useless. They don't have a clue what it is like out on the line. It is cold, of course it is cold, you are working in a refrigerator. You will be slicing and dicing meat all day long. You get to wear rubber boots that don't keep the chill out so wear extra socks. Let's talk about the job itself. When I was there I couldn't sharpen a knife worth a darn. Could I get anyone to sharpen my knife for me so I could slice through the meat with some ease? NO! Not one darn person helped me. I was just told I needed to try harder, go faster. The hours of work... I was told I would be working a lot of overtime. Never saw it, but got sent home early every day for the month I was there. Getting hired is easy. They will take basically anyone who walks in off the street because the turnover rate is astronomical. Would I go back to this place? Never again. Would I recommend it to anyone? Not a chance. There are far easier jobs that pay more when you are hired than this place. I had no trouble finding a better paying job with a better support system in place. This company isn't worth your effort.

It's blue collar work, not an office job.
You get up early, and work hard until you leave.
Expect to get dirty and or even sometimes wet, but most importantly do not be afraid to talk to management, they're people who also do the same sort of work you're doing.
Communication is key. If you don't know what you're doing, ask, and if you don't quite understand it, ask more questions.
Most people around you will typically be willing to help you learn.
The temperature is honestly not that bad, though it is still cooler, it is better referred to as a giant fridge than a freezer. 
Most sections do not typically handle product that is frozen, and there are supplies available to deal with cold hands.

Do not work here if you have a family or kids. A select few get special treatment, they can do what they want. Outside of that don't expect to get time off you want or need. only the golden employees get what they want. If you're a good worker you'll be treated poorly. If you want to go far here, brown that nose. This is not a career choice, you won't advance your pay quickly, if they don't like you, you won't be trained on anything. And whatever you do, don't get on the Turks bad side. 
Worked here for a number of years, always on time, very rarely called in, had amazing work and when something happened in my life I was treated like scum. The only pro is Monday to Friday. Hours are all over, sometimes you think you'll be done at 3 but they'll run you late secretly and if you have kids to pickup they don't care. Communication is awful, everything is a secret. Reminds me of being in elementary school. they'll make you work overtime when they need you to, and the following week have hardly any work. Management has no understanding of you as a person, you're there to work for them and that's all they care about. You can't prove your worth here, all you can do is suck up and hope for the best. 

Good stepping stone though. 

The job itself is awesome for an entry level job that demands little or no experience.  For those who like ritual work and physical Labour, this job is great.
The problem is the unreliability of a stable job with stable hours.  Also watch out for certain individuals who will make life difficult for you with trivial demands.  Some of the management look into any detail that could very well lead to potential stress; conflict; or even dismissal.   (But then again, such things can be found in many other companies).  In general, the work is good, but communication and relations with management, and even fellow workers, can sometimes not be so pleasant.  In general; Unreliable job in an unreliable economy.  Finding any stable position is rare and not easily available, and CB freezers is no exception to this.  If they choose you for a stable job, keep it.  But know that they dismiss and filter out many people as they see fit for any arbitrary reason.

As a sanitation worker who has worked at Freezers for 2 years, I can tell you that you are just another employee number to management, they do not care to get to know you. We can work up to or over 12 hours a night, and if 1 little thing was wrong the sanatation team would be in a lot of trouble, yelled at, and complained about. The sanitation team itself was a small group of friends who tried their best every night, however nothing nice was ever said about the good they did, only the bad and wrong. There was no communication between management, production, and sanitation. As a sanitation worker regardless on how long you work there, you are always the bottom on the totem pole. Production can run a line for 10 minutes and move into another line to do the same, forcing sanitation to clean those lines for over 3 hours each instead of running 1 line for the full day. All in all sanitation work at CB Freezers is not worth the time or effort you put in. Not much chance to move up from a worker.

This company has creepy old men who watch younger women and management does nothing about it. Be prepared not to work there long as they tend to let employees go for no reason given.
What are the working hours at Canadian Blast Freezers?
This company is very very much. So two-faced. I would not recommend this company to anyone. One minute you get told you're doing a good job for the next minute. You're gone. I do literally . Halfway through my shift and they told me that I'm not a good fit anymore Meanwhile. My leaders told me I was doing a good job. As I said Very Much Too Faced. I would not recommend this job to anyone. I can say the hours are good. The pay rate is good. But the people management and as well as the leaders are Too Faced. On top of that they have old men there that creep women, especially young women out old man that stand in your personal space. This is my experience. But unless you don't want to be screwed over and told you're doing a good job. And then the next minute you're gone. I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone.

I have been employed with CB Freezers for almost a year now.  I was nervous starting a job with no prior experience in the field, however I found the Training Coordinator to be helpful and understanding.  I was placed into a line that best suited me and the Team Leads and Line Lead were able to further advise and assist me.  Face masks, hair nets, coats and rubber boots are all provided.  
Shifts for production run Monday to Friday 6:30am-3pm with optional overtime on weekends.  You are allotted two 15 minute paid breaks and an unpaid 30 minute lunch.
There is plenty of room to grow and learn within the positions.  The team I work with is great and I feel like a valued member.  Management holds monthly staff appreciation lunches, employee events such as Christmas parties and bbq's, and we are gifted company logo swag and gift cards!

I worked there for almost three years. Blood, sweat and a lot of tears went into the job. I have seen really good employees lose their jobs because of little to no training. The job security was excellent if you put in your time... But don't expect a full time job. The hours very depending on the season. I only made $0.50 more than what a starting employee made.... seeing how I was there for almost three years, and constantly asked to be trained on other things!!. You only get a raise if you work on the cutting line...favoritism at it's best.. There are a few good managers there. I don't understand why people get away with doing and saying things that would of gotten them fired at any other job HR seriously should take action. I was  planning on staying there until retirement, but because of an honest mastake I was fired. I really did like the job, but I'm glad that I got out..... All I can say is, if you are looking for a starting job apply..... They hire everyone

Management is extremely unprofessional, when expressing my concerns to the floor supervisor about an issue with other employees, she laughed in my face when I asked to speak to her in private rather then in front of a group of people which included a person I wanted to speak about.



the supervisors or blue hats as they are called are useless, the yellow hats as well, I think during my time working here since my hire I have spoken to the supervisors 2-3 times over the course of a few weeks, I was simply thrown in to work and was shown by another employee the first day after that I was on my own. not once did anyone come to see if I was ok, need help or how I was progressing.


being new your unsure of your position so when you go in and suit up and go to see a blue or yellow hat where you need to go, they just ignore you leaving you clueless,

Sure CB Freezers has a bad rep. The company is a small fish in a big pond. For its fist few years of operation it was trying to establish itself on the market. To do so that meant longer work days and changing expectations. As someone who has been with the company longer than most, I can understand why there are so many negative reviews. CB has a high turn over rate because of 2 factors.

1- Lack of training on part of the company

2- Unclear Job description in job postings.

If you are looking for a job that does not require much labor, than Canadian Blast is not for you. The work is fast and attention to detail is a must. You work with knifes for 8 hours a day. The work can be  physical demanding, but not mentally stressful at all.

If you show up to work willing to work you can be sure to have a job.
