I don’t know where the other review came from but this is the best workplace I ever had. We are Canadian Footwear Family and not “just” employees. We have the best group of people at downtown location. From the President, to the Director of Sales, Manager in the Showroom, Clearance, and Shipping Receiving, down to other Supervisors and the rest of the staff, they are the nicest people ever. They are very supportive and helpful  for everything. Very well-managed family business. They treat us like real human beings unlike other retail store/companies where they don’t care about you (based on my experience). Some employees have been working here for decades and until their retirements. Brian (CEO) cares about the community and always participate in many ways of sharing the success of the company. This is not a paid review and these all came from the heart. I could never thank them enough for the experiences, skills, and knowledge I gain while working here.

I worked at the regent location and you are better off applying elsewhere. The employees are great but upper management is horrible. They treat their long-time employees poorly, they are disorganized and they are unreliable. Employees are overworked and underpaid, especially for the amount of information they expect you to memorize and figure out on your own. You are stressed out all the time because they are so understaffed and the in-store traffic flow is heavy. Expect very late/delayed lunch breaks and constant pressure because you will not have the chance to breathe. Do not expect consistent training- they do not even have enough staff to work the busy floor, let alone provide you with someone to properly train you.  If you are looking for future advancement opportunities, look elsewhere as it will be difficult to obtain that at this location.  

Honestly, this was one of the worst jobs I had. The manager turnover in the Calgary store was crazy, I was there for 2 years and I had 3 different managers. Everyone was paid minimum wage even supervisors, they claimed to have a "supervisor premium" but they never gave it to you. Issues brought to head office were never taken seriously and they blatantly ignored employees suggestions. Trying to receive a raise even if you were a good seller and hard worker was like pulling teeth. In the time I worked there I watched coworkers who had been with the company for well over 6 years leave all because of head office and management. Honestly working for this company broke me, the day I left the biggest weight was lifted off my shoulders. I would not recommend working here. Go to any other shoe store, you'll get paid more and will have to deal with way less push from management. 

I arrived to work and started to sort out the new stock that arrived from various customers. Everyday we had a lot of stock coming in, usually winter stock because winter was close. Sometimes I would receive the new stock that just arrived and make sure that there is no lack of any products. 
I learnt how to work in a team, so that our work would be more efficient. The management was pretty tough, because it wanted us to be much more than what we could have been. 
Hardest part of the job was definitely the fact that it was pure physical job. Unfortunately, I'm not the strongest person you will meet, but I got used to the job and it became constant, so it got easier. 
I enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the positive co-workers around me, they made me more productive.

This job was the worst job of my life, the management only care if you are making sales. It's a company that says they care about the customers but are really just there for the commission on the highest priced items. You will get in trouble if you spend too much time helping customers. 

This is not a customer service job it is a high pressure sales job with very low commission. 

At our location, one employee was fired for physically assaulting another employee and then the person who was assaulted was fired the next day for reporting the person  and threatening to go to the cops. This place is just a wreck.

I wrote a phenomenal review but it was too long. Honestly if you get a chance to join their team you will not regret it. The best part of working for the company is the owners, general manager and director of retail sales. All these leaders care more about the employees well being then themselves. They strive to make their employees happy.

A typical day would involve selling shoes on commission, trying to sell specific shoes that got you more money - regardless of the fit for the customer. 

The management does not believe in discipline so a lot of people will get away with anything, especially if they are a high seller. 

The hardest part of the job is the hateful attitude by managment and other workers. 

The best part would be making a customer happy.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The owners and upper management. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing is overly stressful at all.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very kind and mature. Customers are the number one priority. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical depends on your role their. CFW is like any other shoe retailer but the difference is they genuinely care about their customers and their staff.

I worked here many years ago but it seems like the norm of low wages paid to staff for a high degree of product knowledge and health knowledge still exists. I was in the store the other day and you can always spot the commission sharks chasing the extra $2-5 a sale. I worked at the St Vital and Downtown location. The buisness should be able to pay their staff career wages especially for the cost of the products and the needs of the clients.

I worked in the Shipping and Receiving department; I didn't make the most money and I didn't receive any form of benefits of any kind. It was a very straight forward kind of job; if you did the work you got paid. The only way to advance in the company was if someone left and you applied for their position.
