What is the best part of working at the company?
Pay cheques on time, impossible to get fired thanks to the union.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of parts, mechanical team VERY LAZY and maintenance work very uncoordinated despite having more than enough staff job planners. Favouritism runs rampant without hardly any effort to hide it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Favouritism runs deep in all departments, management NEVER held to account for ANYTHING. Most people are VERY unhappy working here. Staff receives annual bonuses and hourly employees do not. A “we protect our own” mentality on side with the company.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Production first, people last.

The short commute. The fellow employees

Very poor organization within management

Toxic safety is driven completely misguided with no buyin from employees. As employees our voice was never heard

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Repair breakdown, unplug conveyors, put deck chains back on

On the job I was exposed to a fast paced environment where safety and production were the two main goals. As the utility operator it was my job to ensure than safety goals within the shift were met and to assist people in meeting those goals, I was also responsible for the steady flow of production, whether it was helping another employee get their machine center operating again or helping the trades people with other fixes.

Good fun work, lots of interesting equipment to work on.  The supervisors will appreciate you as long as you put in an honest days work and the pay is excellent.  The logs we turn into boards are hard on the equipment which makes for lots of requirement for Maintenance.  The workers and supervisors show a joint interest in high production numbers which makes for a strong positive production team.

A typical day at work was fast paced , which required multi tasking.
I continually learned more about my field of work as I gained experience.
The management team was experienced and always fair to work with as a team.
I always enjoyed my co-workers.
The hardest part of the job was sometimes the long days.
The most enjoyable part of the job was enjoying success with my co-workers.

predictable shift, seniority can be frustrating for new employees. Culture is that of "I had it rough when I was a junior, so I'm going to make it rough for you" Electrical is hired fully certified every other trade isn't leading to a relative lack of experience. 4 10s home everynight is the big ticket working here.

Canfor is a great company to work for. They offer an amazing benefits package with different coverage options to choose from. My manager was very supportive throughout my 2 years of employment. The workplace culture is great - lots of young people.

As a part of the student work program worked graveyard shifts on the weekend. Well physically demanding at time was easy.There is a focus on safety but there is always some risk working in a sawmill. Shifts were flexible to accommodate the needs of students and student athletes.

Good place to work. Good management team. The mill is currently shut down and is in the process of deciding if it will be rebuilt. Once it is rebuilt the sawmill will employ less people. 

Good place to learn how to Sawmill. Managment was good to work for. Spent lots of money on upgrades that took awhile to get up and running properly but is running way better at this time. The mill was sold a few years after. The people who work there really care about their jobs and want to make a differance.
