If it’s busy, it’s hard to do things while getting so many calls. Not everyone answers to your call/text/email when you’re looking for interpreters. 
Training with me was different; I know someone close that works as a dispatcher and she taught me. Idk how regular training is as most staff at the office are deaf and I’m not fluent (yet!) in ASL. The process when you receive a request isn’t all that hard; just remembering all the information you need at the beginning of a call, with each request. You catch on pretty quickly. 
The interpreters are all mostly nice, only been 2-4 that are snippy but everyone else is really patient with you - even teaching you at the beginning with little tricks and what not. 
Downfall is you get it for one week straight each month (depending on how many other dispatchers there are) so you can’t make a living on this. 

A typical day at work consisted of showing up, working on work until one felt like taking a lunch break. After an hour-long lunch break, one returned to working until the workday was over. 

Work was left at work, the work-life balance was amazing. The people made the place worth working at; this work environment had the friendliest people I've ever worked with.

In summary, if you're looking for incredibly boring work that's compensated for amazingly via one's pay rate, and interactions with people, this is a great place to work.

In my tenure as a contracted employee, CHS has contributed to personal growth and career growth. They are true to their values and culture, and stand by their mission statement in wanting to help those who are deaf, hard of hearing, as well as educate those who have healthy hearing. 
The management will go above and beyond for their staff and for clients, ensuring everyone is satisfied in their experiences. They are open to listening to new ideas, and want to see the organization continue to change and grow to reflect the times and changes our society makes. This applies for the staff as well.

I loved the people I worked with at Canadian Hearing Care, it was always a friendly environment, working with seniors was great. I learned how to use excel & spreadsheets as thats how they kept track of everything. The management was always very friendly, understanding and compassionate which I enjoyed. I could say the "hardest" part of the job was month end, it wasn't hard persay, jut time consuming and meticulous. The most enjoyable part of the job were the people, clients and co-workers made it a very comfortable and welcoming environment.

Start the day by reviewing Help Desk Tickets and ordering them in importance such as their issue is impacting a Client would be #1.
Learned quite a bit in prepping Laptops, Desktops and Servers with Virtualization.
Worked with really good co-workers.
Hardest part was the travel and work was 13 hours which made my day rather long.
Enjoyable part is working with my Users and solving all their problems.  Allows them to become more productive.

Working at Canadian Hearing Services is a rewarding experience. You are constantly challenged to grow learn amd innovate. It is a challeging non profit workplace. The staff are amazing and complicated. Learning American Sign Language as an adult is a challenge but very rewarding. It adds an extra level of complexity to the communications work - producing content in 4 languages. 

Used to be a great, friendly place to work, although they would string you along with a temp-to-perm contract that never went permanent. But at least the people were nice. There were a lot of management changes though, so anything fun for employees was cancelled - no more Christmas parties, no more get-togethers, no more health benefits, no more flex hours. Now it is a terrible place to work.

Minimal support from management. Work environment of people disappointed in how the company is managed. This used to be a reputable employer. Now, employees who have worked here for decades are questioning how support has declined so steeply. High turn over rate and zero consideration for employee input. People leave and their position responsibilities are simply added to other jobs rather than hiring for that position again. 

From the moment I walked into this place I felt comfortable.  The staff is so friendly and inviting.  It's like being part of a family.   The training was thorough which made the actual job so much easier to do.  I would highly recommend applying here if you have the chance.  I would go back in a heart beat.

Work closely with many partners on projects and develop strong relationships. The most enjoyable part of this job was to be part of a very unique initiative to raise awareness about Deaf and hard of hearing consumers and work closely with many partners.
