Allows staff to take higher education classes for credit and  other skills training.  Travel allows for collaboration and networking with other staff at remote locations Good opportunities for gaining experience in other disciplines to give staff better tools in their tool kits.

There have been many changes in this industry which means that we need to adapt to the needs of the public to ensure safety.  That is a challenge that we have continuously met.  One area is safety culture which an organization shows when processes and other attributes are present to influence safety performance outcomes.  As well, human factors principles and theories are used every day to help reduce human error.  Event investigations lead to corrective actions and lessons learned to improve performance.  Oversight of these activities is our primary role and we believe that this role is the most important one that any regulatory agency can fulfill

This is a great organization to work for. The majority of people are friendly, kind, and love their jobs! They value work life balance, however, they are still finding their footing as far as how to execute that well across the board. Some positions don’t allow for much work life balance due to the workload, tight deadlines, understaffing, etc. 

A lot of focus on EDI, and they are actively working to integrate this lens into the work culture. Though they can be too nice and take much too long to address problematic staff as far as this is concerned. 

Employees are not forced to work from the office and have the choice to work from home or the office or hybrid. 

Most management is great but some are still stuck in some archaic ways of leading. Some still see diversity as a threat or a nonissue. Some are very rude to employees but the majority are amazing people who genuinely care about their employees.

Some divisions are better managed than others but if you accept a job there and toe the line you will be fine.
The organization is insular and managers compete with one another for control of information, dragging staff into the dynamic. If you thrive in this type of environment you will fit in.
Management pats itself on the back and through their behaviour discourages open and honest communication within the organization. As a result, staff remain mum on difficult issues for fear of being reprimanded.

-Great people; amazing benefits; lots of opportunities move laterally or vertically. 
-Not a perfect organization, but always seeking ways to improve. 
-Many learning opportunities: micro-missions, assignments, internal open-learning sessions, and individual learning plans that ensures continuous learning and development.
-Management meetings are open to all staff, which is rare.

There was not a bad contract. But could be better.
There was a good daily rate and nice place (Telesat). However there was uncomfortable work space (open space), badge did not let you in before 7 and after 6, management could be more polite and professional in my opinion.

This is a very interesting place to work at  - what I find most interesting are the presentations from international guest speakers (subject matter experts) on a variety of topics.

The office environment is fun, while being productive in a fast-paced environment.

Worked at the CNSC for over 20 years; left when I retired, Highly recommend.
They believe in continuous learning so you can really make a career here. The camaraderie between the staff and management is great.

Great workforce, and work/life balance. Overall a decent career growth experience. I would recommend this position to someone starting their career but not to people who already hold experience.

Management is very selective; working for an agency kept us from participating in any activities or decisions that have to be made for the department's functions

A positive atmosphere and a wonderful workplace. Highly recommended to work in such an environment and with the government. Overall a wonderful opportunity
