Canadian Property Stars (CPS)

For almost 2 years working here, my experience has been up and down. With the Edmonton and BC branches, you do all sorts of lawn work, except lawn mowing.  But in order to actually get to work, you actually need to secure that lawn by yourself. In other words, go door to door and make a sale, and once you close it, you get to do the work, sometimes with a partner, or alone if you are more experienced. The only catch here is, you're only paid the commission for the sale, but not the work, and depending on how many sales you close, your pay can go either way. Plus, you are provided with equipment and a map, showing you where you can go to different houses, but you also have to push your equipment around your map, for the whole day (technically from 10 or 11 AM to 7:30 to 8 PM), while trying to get a sale. In addition 10 bucks will be taken off your paycheck any day you go onsite, so if you like to get a good workout of it, It's not a bad exercise. The last part to get the negative stuff out of the way, there's no health benefits, so they aren't responsible for any physical accidents that happen to you when onsite. The managing team is very supportive and will waste no time to help when needed and some of the people who have been working there for years are willing to help too. It also helps you learn new skills, so good for some newcomers. There are also bonuses everyday for the individual or team of 2 that do the best work. (Mostly the most sales). So it can be very competitive. Payday is weekly every Monday evening with pizza, which is a plus.  I wouldn't do this full time at all but definitely would still do it to earn some extra cash. Conclusion, I know door to door is one of the toughest sales jobs to do, but if you wanna learn new skills, work hard and fast and get some good experience, it's a good place to start. But if you're looking for a job, specifically for hourly pay, then I'm sorry, but you're gonna have to try somewhere else.

If you are into sales and have a die hard work ethic, than maybe, just maybe this may work for you. However, it is a solely commission based work in which you get paid a percentage of your client contract earnings for that particular day. So, somedays you may find your self making a few hundred, and other days you may end up not making anything at all. 

You arrive at the warehouse in the morning and get put on a route where you transport your equipment from one house to another looking for clients who may or may not want their lawn aerated. No food&drinks, bathroom or shelter provided, so once your out there your on your own (bring food and plenty of water). At the end of the day you go back to the warehouse and have your daily earnings calculated by the management, at which point they pay you in cash; if of course, you managed to secure some client contracts

Terrible work environment. No work life balance at all. I worked 7 days a week 16+ hour days as a manager. Yes I got 28 days off BUT the real issue for me was that they lied about the previous year earnings and that they were on an upwards trajectory to make great money. So at 2% commission of 2.4 to 3 million is pretty good. Last year they actually made 1.4 and our GM did a terrible job running the location and we made significantly less than 1.4. So the potential is there to make great money but you have no idea how the season will go. Overpromising and under delivering. A lot of the workers I managed made 2x 3x 4x 5x the lonely I made as a manager! How does that happen???
Very toxic environment. One good thing i will say is I found out the senior manager I worked closely with will be coGM next year so I know next year will be a bit better in terms of the toxic environment and decision making 

I worked here several days over the course of two months. I don't know anything about driveway sealant so I won't say it's a scam or not. 
     They will hire practically anyone willing to push equipment from 10am-8pm going door to door trying to selling aeration or driveway sealing services. On average I made around $80 a day. The most being $170 and the least being $0. The posters that "guarantee" $110 a day are false, your aren't guaranteed anything. The amount you make is based on the amount of door to door sales you make and perform, sometimes they gave you one or two prebooked jobs to start but the rest of the day would be sales.  If I remember the commission is 28%.

In short, you have the potential to make a lot of money but it's mostly down to your charisma and dumb luck.

get picked up in a van as early as 7:30 and start door to door sales at 9:30am - 7:30pm. Return to drop off location at 9:30pm

CPS will hire anybody and train them on the job. They have a firm belief that practice makes perfect, and therefore will push you to always be performing at your best.

The work community is unlike anything else I have ever encountered. It is competition driven; yet you will never find an environment where your fellow reps are more willing to help you succeed.

Not a great place to work for an extended amount of time. Most if not all people here are also actively searching for another job. Pizza parties are used to cover up for the harsh working conditions and poor commission. Overall, I still think this was a great first job for me. As someone with no responsibility I it's not so bad. You'll make okay money and gain valuable experience.

you are forced to work in grueling conditions. the managers just drop you off in a random area with almost no training and you are forced to work regardless of the weather outside. if you do not want to work during the terrible weather conditions the managers try to guilt you into staying and continuing to work even if you are shivering and almost about to faint. 

the company feeds off the nieve and innocent, this company needs to pay there labourers and direct sales reps more money. the fact they are out in the blistering heat for 13-14 hours a day and how much they are paid is based if they happen to get a sale is absolute bull. the only positive thing is the people you are surrounded by.

Canadian Property Stars is a great company for people with very busy schedules because it allows you to pick the day you want to come to work. It is also a very good company if you are a self-motivated individual who is not afraid to do hard labor for long hours. But overall it does not provide a steady income and there are no job benefits.
