Canadian Shield Health Care Services

During my time with the company I never received the amount of hours I signed up to take. It was always less unless they needed you last minute. You would ask for more work, more hours they would give none but when they have someone call in, quit, don’t show they will message or call begging for you to take on that workers clients. Zero stability, almost everyday you were to another clients home, there is no room for clients to have much familiarity as they switch the workers. Clients get annoyed by this A LOT because either the family or the client has to teach their care to a new person several times a week. 
When they give you a set of clients they ransomed decide after a few weeks that they will pull the client away with no explanation. They just randomly switch the clients. They have certain workers that have steady clients but the others are just flung around wherever they see fit. When I mentioned my hours were not even at the minimum of what it should be but far less they decided to remove all clients without saying anything.

This job was by far the most unorganized and overwhelming position I’ve ever had. You would finish an entire day shift and the second you get home they’ll call you out for more clients. I received at least 1 call a day asking to pick up shifts, even on days I had already worked or had scheduled off. Compensation is a joke, you’re paid per hour but only for the actual time spent clocked in with your client, not travel time, so you could be scheduled from 12:30-10:30pm and only be paid for 7 hours. Clients will be added to your schedule without prior notice within 24h of shift, I had to start 1h earlier because of a surprise client and was only paid 7h for an 11h shift on a holiday no less. Training is minimal, you get one shadow shift *but training is paid at minimum wage* and they want you to start asap even if you are not comfortable yet. Care coordinators bribed me with offers to buy coffee etc to pick up extra clients. When I gave my notice, I was asked to work that day and questioned when I said I was not available. No means no!

First and probably only review, just because I feel you need to know how it can be here.

The interviewer basically lies to you about being full-time and the sets you as part time so you no longer get benefits. You get punished for trying to go the extra mile to help clients. Management picks favorites and the rules of the job don't apply to them. Along with the there is a lot of nepotism, if you aren't related to an owner or in a relationship with one of their family members they don't care about you. Also it's enforced that you are to not speak with coworkers AT ALL unless you're asking a work question. (Unless you're related than you can do whatever). 

The only assistance you will get on job is from your coworkers, as you aren't even allowed to speak with management. You must tell/ask the staff on the floor with the most experience and then they are allowed to speak with management.

What is the best part of working at the company?
When they would stick to their guns and what actually is said or follow their mandate and policies and procedures on a daily basis and not re-create the binder every day

They always assume you are stealing information they always the same that you’re stealing time they always assume 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fun and friendly as long as you know who do you be friends with otherwise it is a tight net south Asian friends and family company mainly

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Walking to shift with several vacancies open and left for me to figure out how to coordinate the care for these people as a single person working alone versus the four or five other people that have continuously worked together all day

Doesn't matter how far you stick your neck out, you aren't appreciated. Management are condisending and stuck up, you can't have personal life at all, they micro-manage everything workers do with their camera system or eavesdrop on conversations. Scheduling staff are under paid & mistreated. They will deduct PSW's on mileage or hourly pay and give lame excuses like "you clocked out early". If you ask for time off, they hold grudges. They have meetings in Director's office and talk behind everyone's backs. Very two-faced. Miss one shift, they remove your benefits. "Employee of Month" can only go to field staff. Incentives are limited to their family members they hire. Save the headache and go work at Burger King. Same pay less stress! 


This company is an absolute nightmare to work for. Pay is decent but you work for it! 
No travel time given, if they do it’s not paid. Scheduling staff don’t know what they’re doing,  scheduled passed availability time and on days not available.  Clients are to be called the night before, but in the morning your sheudule has been switched around and looks totally different.  When office is called for problem solving, they say they’ll get back to you in a few minutes but never do. Overtime isn’t paid, unless it’s a period of one month, this means you could work 60-80 hours in a week with no overtime pay ( that’s if they give you the hours) Could go on and on, stay away from them, unless you absolutely need the job and have no better options

I have worked for this company for 1.5 years and just love it. Management and scheduling treat you with respect and listen to you. If you are a dedicated hard worker, it will not go unoticed. I worked in the same long term care home for 16 years and although I loved it there and had a great reputation,  needed a change, felt like I was in highschool. Alot of caddy, inmature women who have nothing better to do but gossip and think they are better than everyone. I went back and forth about leaving, I took the leap and Im telling you its the best decision I have ever made. Im doing what I love and there is no toxicness, drama, nor politics involed. I love working for this company and would recommend it to anyone!

I cannot think of anything that could be identified as a stressor.
