-empty promises to convince you to take the job
-management couldn't schedule shifts to save their lives!  (tell them when you are working elsewhere, or when you have an appointment...they'll schedule you there and then make you give up your shift instead of fixing THEIR mistake!)
-hired way too many people and most staff get little to no hours each week
-if you kiss up and become a "favourite" of store manager (or if store manager brought you in from another job they have worked with you previously) then you are "ok", meaning you will get 20-40hrs/wk while coworkers are getting 5-12 hours a week.  
-staff are expected to bring in food bank donations, and raise funds for Canopy employees that are making $60,000 plus a year when these staff are getting eviction notices, having their power cut, and are unable to even afford to feed themselves!  But if you don't bring in food bank items, or support fund raisers you will be asked about it by management ("oh, you didn't bring in a donation? don't forget tomorrow.") or you will be penalized by having your shifts cancelled or by getting less shifts the next week.
-coworkers will stab you in the back for your hours...can't blame them I guess, they're just trying to eat too!
-management refuses to support promotion of skilled employees unless they are their friends.  Had watched a girl go from tweedtender to a different store under a promotion that she was NOT qualified for (management get bonuses for referring in to positions FYI), girl went to new job and lasted 3 weeks, before quitting.  Then went back to the store she started at as a tweedtender again, and got back 30+ hours a week and had other tweedtenders hours cut back because of it.  
-Have seen a very skilled tweedtender with lots of management experience, go after many positions in the company.  I think management has stopped it from happening because she isn't their "friend".  Then hear that positions get filled by people who worked for manager at another place before Tweed.  
-the favortism is sickening.
-run away from here!  Do not apply for ANY retail position!  You will NOT be appreciated!  You won't be able to pay your bills!
-have seen female staff get sexually harrassed by customers, WHILE management WATCHED and did NOTHING! So don't expect then to have your back!  
-if you enjoy uncertainty of having money, feeling unsafe at work, feeling under-appreciated, then apply.  Otherwise the only people who can afford to work here are people with NO bills, no financial obligations, a husband or wife who makes enough to support you both, someone who still lives under the safety net of their parents, and or people who just want to work a few hours a week.

BACKBREAKING work whether bending constantly during harvests or breaking your shoulders and back shucking or standing on a concrete or unlevel dirt floor all day (twisted my ankle) or wiping drip lines all day. Many injuries to employees especially very sore backs.
  This company no longer seems to hire anyone full time only from temp agencies so they will never get benefits or stock packages. This leads to very little overall knowledge or versatility of employees overall. 
  Its close to or over 100 degrees in the greenhouses and also very humid those conditions are very difficult. Sometimes you get heat breaks but often during harvests you get none even when you probably should get some than as money rules people don't matter. 
   THE PAY ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!!!! Not even a living wage. 
Have to be up at around 4 to 4:30 am to be to work for a 5:30 am start.
   This company let over 30 fulltime employees go by sending them an email asking if they would be attending a meeting on a wednesday morning just prior to a shift and made the email look like a potentially fun or informative company event but it was to be terminated. Half the people being terminated had no idea as they had'nt even seen this email and were redirected away from the gate by 3 gutless higher ups checking every vehicle at the gate letting some through and those to be let go turned around. Than directed to a building simply told they were fired given packages and upon leaving to thier vehicles many in shock some crying were told by security and higher ups they had to immediately leave company property. Nice eh not even allowed to let it sink in and talk to and commiserate with each other just told to leave. 
   GUTLESS COWARDLY MANAGEMENT
  Not even allowed to clean lockers out until they later contacted hr wow.
    CEO klein is making between 30 to 40 million dollars per year. production assistants make $32k per year gross.
  No worries as employees are told they are greatly appreciated and that we are the backbone of the companies success. 
  Sure aren't paid like it.

After being with the company for over a year now I feel like I can give an unbiased opinion of it..... 

When we first started it was crazy so I won't talk about that as it settled down now. 

PROs 
- they just started offering bonuses our team if hit our targets which is pretty cool 
- it's super chill no one is really ever after you to do much at my store so it's a good vibe 
- the people you work with are passionate about the product and industry 
- they can afford to keep us on when some stores complain about probably closing in news 
- there's lots of stores in the province you could try to move to if you needed 
- get a discount on the accessories and clothes and stuff like that 

Cons 
- the old guy that ran the province was a lot friendlier and gave us more hope, he will be missed even if we didn't deal with him much at my level
- the new provincial management plays favourites as they had in the past. The trick is to complement them a lot and you can get a lot further. Sucks but it's the game we all play here
- they just promoted three people without even interviewing really, it kind of sucks to have a lack of transparency or be able to let people know what you want to accomplish. Everyone should have a chance to apply to jobs in my opinion but I could be wrong.
- the culture can get a little toxic at times our old manager would always complain about everyone at head office and make fun of them 
like what processes they did and what they wear and sometimes we'd overheard other stuff too it was pretty unprofessional, the new 
manager (in our store) is nice though and pretty easy going
- our old manager wasn't around much for a while because they had another job or something so it was a bit of a mess but we have a new manager now so it could improve


It's a good place to get a start and learn all the stuff you need to learn about the industry but I'd recommend trying the facility when it opens I know a lot of people are just waiting for that to open in our store to get out 
and get some of the real Canopy Growth culture we hear about.

This place is one of the worst places I have ever worked at. The management could not manage a thumb up their behind. Unfortunately, workers are paid peanuts while constellation has no problem giving themselves 800k raises or 5 figure Christmas bonuses. Meanwhile it took a pandemic to give us a raise above minimum. There is no pay scale. You can make as much as an operator that has been there 5 years... simply by walking in the door. Most of the workers there are only clinging to the hopes of stocks that they won't be able to cash out. They give you low shares at higher prices, meanwhile the upper management sits on hundreds of thousands of shares. Constellation is just siphoning the company for their investment back, before it moves to the states. Lack of enforced structure and rules. You can work your butt off while others are glued to their phones, and you all make the same. Usually it is a handful of people doing the hard work, while others stand around and do nothing. Nothing is ever done, nobody really cares anymore. People are just clinging on for a paycheck , stocks, or their layoff slip. The quality of product and quality issues are plaguing the potential of this company. They constantly make the same mistakes from 6 years ago. They always want to talk about future growth, but there won't be any if they keep going down this road. They have no idea what they are doing. Its unfortunate, because there are some good people that have worked there. They have taken us for a ride, and that's why the turnover rate is bad. Who's going to work there after you have screwed thousands? Where does that leave the future of canopy growth? There is no future here,  I give it another couple years.
If you are elderly and are looking for an easy job, this place is perfect.

I was hired as a retail employee. The training was a joke; they focused entirely on customer service and their ridiculous script (which was abandoned by October 18) and completely ignored their actual products, probably because they don't even have any of the things they were promising they'd be stocking. They spent all their manpower and effort on making sure their stores look just right (and dont even get me started on the people who show up every few months and rearrange the whole place, as if folding it differently is going to make someone want one of those cheap ugly shirts), and absolutely none on worrying about how to relate to their consumer base. 

Store management does what they can with a bad situation, even amidst scapegoating and threats of termination. Anyone above the individual store level has been brainwashed by the company, and why shouldn't they be content? They're actually earning a living; they couldn't care less about the hourly employees who can't afford rent, or lost their health coverage (which was much touted as one of the benefits during the hiring process) because they dropped below the minimum hours and so can't pay for vital medications.

Even if you're dedicated, even if you're always smiling, even if you attend every single one of the charity events, and talk customers into buying things they don't need, and fold the cheap shirts just right, this company will still treat you like absolute garbage.

Run, don't walk, away from this dystopian nightmare of an organization.

to make it simple. store managers picked favorites, several employees at our store got their job because of raw nepotism or previous employment arrangements . its one thing to hire your old employees, its another when they're all given unfair advantages. very poor HR resources to help struggling employees faced constant abuse from our former store manager who had a HUGE temper problem and exploded at us over social media multiple times. he went out of his way to make people feel like an inconvenience at work and never tried to cooperate with his employees. 
When I first trained with Tweed i was so starstruck, they pretended to be passionate about educating the community and cultivating new norms and abolishing stigmas in the cannabis community but AS SOON as legalization occurred it instantly switched over to upsell.upsell.upsell. It was no longer about helping customers find what is SAFE and closest to what they're looking for but more about trying to make as much money as they can. they do an amazing job making you think they're not just another corporation.

sure, they have pizza parties, staff meetings taking place at bars and arcades, i mean sometimes you get a free vape or something. super fun job but don't count on it, no matter how much they lead you on (like they did with me) to the concept of a full career with them. there's so many more things i wish i could say but... Just know and understand what rights you're signing away with this company. they will drop you out of know where and no amount of severance will  fix the poor things you had to endure to keep up with the awful rat race they run.

This place used to be an amazing place to work. The culture was amazing, the job was great and the people were fun. It didn't feel like work when you showed up. It was actually a fun place to be and a fun place to hang out.

Now...it's garbage. Management is non existent. I don't mean that they aren't present, I just mean that they have no idea how to lead a team. And I don't mean to paint then all with the same brush and obviously some departments are better than others. But most departments are filled with Managers who are only managers because they're crawled up their bosses &ss or because they've been there the longest. All they do is promote people to a level that promotes incompetence. 
Just because someone has seniority, does not mean that they have a clue as to what they're doing. 

Company culture has slipped. There is none. Everyone walks around terrified to open their mouths to bring forward ideas in fear of being labeled a "problem" and be next on the list for termination ( which they will be). God forbid anyone have a good idea around there. There's zero organization here. No clear direction. And pretty much everyone is miserable.

Avoid this place. It's not the place it once was. Your sanity is worth more than this. 

Look, this is a company that LOVES to spout that they are one big family and that they care about their employees and customers. They don't. If you cannot upsell every single customer to a total of 50$ or more, regardless of if they are handing you change to pay, or if you don't sell enough drinks AND edibles AND accessories then you are berated by your manager weekly and your job hangs on a thread. If your job rights get violated by your manager, which they will be, HR ignores legitimate complaints because they cannot find managerial replacements. You're expected to use high pressure sales tactics regardless of what the customer wants, but you don't receive any commission whatsoever. The turnover rate for employees and management is insane, it takes them months to find management because no one can put up with upper management and their "ideals". Management hands off ALL of their duties to their staff, because they are incapable of doing it themselves for a lack of understanding of what they are doing. Not great when you rely on management for direction and guidance. Head office is based in Ontario and they are completely incompetent and disorganized, good luck getting help when major things go wrong at your store! Pretty much, there is a reason they post openings so often. I know the economy is bad, but this place will rip you apart and then let you go if you have any type of concern at all, no matter how much you give. YOU DO NOT MATTER HERE, PERIOD.

Canopy Growths working environment is Toxic, Stressful, and Frustrating. 
All this company cares about is its bottom line and how big the bonuses will be for upper management. They would rather let a multi-million dollar manufacturing line break because its missing a single screw that costs a few pennies than have to pay for technicians to come perform preventative maintenance. 
There is a lack of communication and transparency at every level and every department. There is an obvious lack of direction and incentive for employees; bad employees aren't reprimanded, and good employees are never acknowledged. 
There is no advancement opportunities, unless you count taking on more responsibilities with absolutely no additional compensation. Management will lie to your face and keep you on the hook as long as you will let them. Change is the only constant, everyday the rules change depending on whos working beside you. 
There is absolutely no job security, if you complain about issues, even if they are valid (HR issues, Health and Safety concerns, bullying/harassment from coworkers) then YOU will be labelled as the problem, and will be "reorganized". 
The hardest part of the job is dealing with the realization that unless you are in the top 2% of this companies upper management then you mean absolutely nothing to them, you are expendable and worthless. 

Execs and upper management lie to employees and make promises they don't honour. They constantly fire people and make motives up - salaries seem good at first glance but there is no job security whatsoever. If you're in Canada, don't bother, they've fired about 1000 people in Canada in the first 4 months of 2020. This was done without any indication that anything was wrong and while being lied to that no one was going to lose their jobs, time and time again. High % of people hired with no experience and what's worse is there is almost no training and process for new hires which becomes a burden on teams. Some people are worked to the bones and have to work nights and weekends while some others socialize almost all day, there is no balance. Upper management is clueless and has little to no experience and some treat employees like trash. Workplace culture is awful, I've heard so many people degrade others and call them names and be bullies and abusive and this is tolerated from managers all the way to HR. I'm very disappointed by this company and wish I had never worked there. If you apply, consider that it is a risk because of the high level of layoffs and firing and don't trust execs and management personnel, they will lie to your face and do it with a smile.
