Had the privilege of  spending 18 months at the Calgary branch.  Only left because I had an opportunity to work exclusively on chillers.  Carmichael is a top employer dedicated to growing their team by finding the best tradespeople.

Amazing parts of this job:
-HVAC division is large and has a large pool of techs on call so each tech only does 4 weeks on call per year
-Because there are so many techs, there is good flexibility with your schedule if you need to make an appointment or when you’re booking vacation
-Work/life balance truly exists at Carmichael 
-Service Manager is highly skilled and knowledgeable from spending almost 20 years in the field and understands what techs need to do their jobs well
-Extremely deep talent pool.  Their techs have skills across the board: talented sheet metal techs, top plumbers, Class A gasfitters and top electricians
-Union pay and benefits- boot allowance, 7 hour standby pay for on call, tool replacement/insurance, etc
-An amazing camaraderie—everyone works together and helps each other out
-Strong emphasis on learning and training: was given paid training across the HVAC/R trade and was encouraged to pursue multiple tickets (completed my refrigeration apprenticeship and finished schooling for Gasfitter A while employed at Carmichael)


What is the best part of working at the company?
Working at Carmichael has been an incredibly positive experience. The company truly invests in creating a supportive, collaborative culture where people feel valued and heard. My team is encouraging, knowledgeable, and always willing to help, which makes every day enjoyable. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is nothing stressful about working at Carmichael since they have a strong supportive culture and ensure everyone succeeds at their jobs.

It’s a good place for 1st to 4th year apprentices to learn or for guys who does base building or RTUs. You just have to bond up with coupe good guys in the field and you will be fine otherwise you have to learn everything on your own. No training or support given. You left in a dark. Micro managing, and lots of guy coming in and leave. Lost 6 good chiller guys in last one and half years because of management and no support.

Absolutely nothing good about it 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No work strategy, teamwork and no structure 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone for themselves ,  everyone is completely miserable working there

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You never know what your gonna get coming at you

This family owned company is a wonderful place to work. The owner really have his company at heart and inject all generated incomes back into training and tools and trucks etc... to ensure that the techs are always at the top of their game. 

This company offers best of both worlds: large company ressources and a family atmosphere.

Carmichael is a family owned business with an amazing culture and good room for growth. They are rapidly growing and are always looking to invest in their employees careers and education. Carmichael has great resources and supports for their employees wherever needed. Management is there to support and aid employees.

Everyone at Carmichael has been very helpful getting my sales career off the ground!  From management to technicians, I felt at home from day one.  The sales training involved a full week of onboarding and afterwards I felt extremely confident that I could hit the ground running and achieve my goals.  So far so good!!! I would recommend working at Carmichael to anyone wanting a challenge, fast pace, and opportunity for advancement.  

The best part of the job was getting to experience so many different aspects of the company and its many departments. As well as getting to work with so many different professional individuals. 
The hardest part was having no one near my age in the office. Though it was fun to bond with an older crowd.

Family owned since 1922 with offices all across Canada. Great people and company to work for. Many employees have been there for many years. Great benefits and support i.e., engineers available if required to assist with customers production and or comfort thermal needs.
