As Hotel Admin. Coordinator onboard Carnival Cruise Lines you report directly to the Hotel Director and Guest Services Manager as well as various other ship board management. You are in the office at 8:00 AM checking emails as well as sending emails to remind the appropriate department to submit their information in a timely manner to assist in the preparation of paperwork that needs to be signed and submitted to local authorities at various different ports of call. 2 days a week you are required to attend the Senior Management meeting and the Department Head meeting as well as other various meetings lead by the Hotel Director. Your duty is to take notes and compose minutes for the meetings based on a recording and your notes. Because this role falls under the Guest Services Department you are required to assist with answering guest phone calls for a minimum of 2 hours per day. 

other duties assigned; 
- gather information from online websites, data / tracking sheets, and emails to compose graphs and numerical charts for the purpose of extra pay owed to team members, head office and department heads review and to see ships current rating. 
- Compiled information, created and submitted manifest of materials that needed to be offloaded in various different ports of call. Ensured that materials being offloaded adhered to CBP, Turks & Caicos, and Bahamian customs regulations.

My current position is quite an interesting one because we get to sell different type of tours to cruise ship guests. As such we happen to go on familiarisation trips on many of these excursions in many different countries for free and its such a priviledge because people pay a lot of money to experience what we call work.Im a middle manager for 3 years because there is no turnover and i want to grow and am single but its difficult to settle down when you are a cruise ship employee, i feel its time for me to settle down. I have assumed managerial positions in many companies and feel confident to take up any challenge.
i have worked well with all my colleagues, on average the Shore excursions team consists of 3-4 people. There is a lot of paperwork too, revenue reports and incident reports so  i also have good computer skills. The hardest part of the job is during the hurricane season and you have to deal with itinerary changes and port cancellations, this impacts the organisation financially and inconveniences the guest immensely which creates a lot of work. All in all its a very good job a lot of people would wish to partake but i want to grow and do not want to be trapped on a cruise for the rest of my life and miss reality in the real world.

I have learnt a lot about other nationalities(90 on a cruise ship) and crisis management as well as selling to every type of guest. Apart from selling i also developed my computer skills.

I loved the fact that I got to travel to some neat places (Bahamas, Key West, Cozumel). Training was INTENSE, I mean like 5 am wake ups after getting off at 11pm. Your co-workers are all amazing and friendly which makes nights at the crew bar a blast.
I found that while training my supervisors would make me feel bad for making small mistakes instead of helping me improve and learn. 
Sometimes you would go 3-4 days without being able to go out in the port and being trapped on a boat starts to get to you.
Carnival does not help you if you have a prior medical condition, ie, I have asthma and they would not assist me if I had an attack. 
It is hard work, you would be scheduled for 2 4 hour shifts a day but had to be there half an hour before and half an hour after so realistically you would working 10 hours a day. Sometimes my supervisor would ask me to stick around and help answer phones or help with the lobby. Sometimes I would pushing 12+ a day. 
You DO NOT get a day off for 6 - 8 months depending on your contract.
Overall, it was a great experience but I would never do it again and I wouldn't recommend it unless you are ready to do 10 hours+ a day for 6 months straight.

A typical day at work includes a huge line at the Guest Services Desk, the different phone lines continuously ringing, maintenance issues that need to be resolved immediately, hundreds of important emails that must  be read... and all of this happens at the same time. This is the perfect setting to be multi-tasking and I loved it! My team was wonderful from my co-workers to the management onboard. The face paced environment made it really interesting and solving some really tough concerns by the guests  was challenging but in a great way. I learned that I am patient and empathetic; two traits that I never knew I had until then. The hardest part of the job were the long hours of work and working every day. However the perks of the job made up for it. I would wake up and be on the beautiful island of Curacao, the next day in Aruba and the day after that in the Bahamas. The friendships I made and the great feedback I received from past guests regarding the service they received from me make this one of the best jobs I've ever had!

Everyday is an exciting day with lots of challenges. My position requires a lot of patience and understanding. One has to know how to prioritize the tasks on a daily basis. I have learned that listening is very important. You can only help a team member if you listen to their needs and then you will know what next step to take. Management was very supportive and all are team players helping each other to accomplish what needs to be done. My co-workers are also cooperative. The hardest part of the job is when dealing with last minute circumstances (last minute sign offs, e.g. emergencies, terminations, etc.). The most enjoyable part is making new friends and knowing that they appreciate what you have done for them, which makes a lot of difference.

I enjoyed my time with the company, it was a great opportunity to travel and do what I love to do which is perform for people.  A big part of our job was also to engage with the guests to ensure their time on board was memorable and fun.  As a Manager I had the opportunity to work alongside many different people from many different countries.  Unlike most jobs you can't check out at the end of your shift and go home, you are really on 24 hours a day.  My office actually was my room and my work computer sat on a desk about 2 feet from my bed, on top of having an office phone and a cell phone.  Things can change as quick as the weather and you have to be ready to adapt and take on a new challenge on the fly.  The job never felt like a routine even though we are always on a itinerary or schedule.

Well there were two jobs you could do, either you would work with the kids or you would work at the door (which is where you sign the kids in and out of Camp). When you worked at the door you would deal mostly with parents, so you would have a good balance (generally) working with parents and the children. The cruises that I was just doing were pretty long (up to about 12 days) so you would get to know the children pretty well. 

My co-workers were great, I got along with all of them. We all worked as a team and helped one another out. For this job, we all had to communicate with one another. The hardest part about the job would be working long hours and not having many breaks (especially on sea days). The most enjoyable part of the job is being there for the children and getting to know them, also allowing the kids to have a great time and by the end of the cruise the kids do not want to leave because they are having such a good time.

Working in a cruise line company gives you the benefits of travelling around the world even you are working hard. I've learned different kinds of cultures since i'm working with 50 different nationalities but thru them and with the help of the staff, management and crew my hard jobs become easy specially when you love what you do, and when you really look at it I must say I'm one of the luckiest person because I got that opportunity that somebody else is looking for even I left my family back home, cause if you think that job is hard it will be more harder, the best part of the job is you've travel the world, you had a good money to support your family and you put your heart on what you do so every guest/people you encountered will give you some compliments on your hard work so it all paid off.

In the cruise ship we work 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Our day will start at 6 in the morning preparing and cleaning all areas of the ship before all the guest come in the morning and enjoy the morning breeze. Through out the day we maintain all areas for cleanliness. When our shift done at 6 in the evening that's the time we can enjoy playing pool games, table tennis and some other games that are available onboard. The hardest part of working on the ship was embarkation day were previous guest will disembark and after few hours the new guest will embark. It is hard because of all the provisions and luggage that need  to load and deliver to the Cabins.

Within the Youth Spaces of Carnival Management plays a key roe in the success or failure of the team. I was blessed to have an incredible direct manager that believed in growth and development of her staff, as well as work life balance. Although we work 7 days a week, our schedules were created to ensure we always had enough down time to rest and recharge. The hardest part of the job is being able to adapt to the fluctuating amount of participants. Never knowing to plan for 10 or 100 kids can provide a challenge when preparing activities. This however is the price you pay for creating wonderful memories with so many children from around the globe. Carnival has a heavy focus on working safe and having fun. The core of the company is set behind a desire to create a truly safe and fun experience for guest and team members alike.
