The group dynamics were very evident in that the team that was assembled to maintain the CC130J Hercules aircraft produced fast efficient and accurate work every time they were assigned a job.  The team functioned like a well oiled machine and always held a positive attitude no matter the tempo or workload.
I learned that persistence and dedication pays off in getting the job completed and not to let personal issues interfere with the task at hand. The hardest part of the job was being taken off a task in the middle of the work but in the bigger picture, I saw that it was necessary to maintain fleet operations.
The best part of the job was waking up in the morning and wanting to get in to work to again have the opportunity to do what I did best in that position, produce top quality aircraft for the Squadron and mentor the junior technicians to produce the same high standards and results after we left the job.

Don’t choose to learn anything here. Poor level of aircraft knowledge. Lucrative contract where the fuel tank slaves see non of it. $3/hr premium for tank work but NOT worth it when you’re in there 75% of your employment. Very slow with the union. Very slow with the work pace. Very depressing with the floor attitude. Comes from all the management poorly talking how the floor workers that pay their wages don’t work hard enough. Hard to do when there is no uplifting of positive energy and a learning experience where you will turn into an AME. Contracts are so lucrative they will sign anyone off on AME license and that’s a concern for the industry because most of the people with 20+ year’s experience working on aircraft should NOT be mentoring people yet alone signing them out as airworthy. As if they’re scared to work on aircraft. Also project meetings seem to have more management level personnel than Mechanics working on the planes. I highly recommend trying your best for airlines. 

From the day of my interview till the day I left Cascade (due to personal reasons not related to the company) I've loved the work at Cascade and all my colleagues there. The work was challenging, kept me creatively occupied and the management is top notch. I worked as a manufacturing engineer and the management never over reached into my work so long as the work got done. I would definitely recommend working here! You also get to work on some amazing planes!

Was looking for a change. Ended up applying in the Engineering department. First two weeks were onboarding training. Got few projects to start with, ended up stranded with no related training. 

Every time, i ask someone for help, would never receive staright help.

Benefits are terrible as compared to other companies.

Atleast 30 people left within 3 months because of no pay raise.

Would not recommend at all. 

Sace your time and apply somewhere else.


The company does a mediocre job of keeping us safe on a day to day basis, we are often stuck working outside in iinclement weather due to lack of proper planning, and the company constantly complains to the employees that they are not making any money, meanwhile our rate of pay on the shop floor is very quickly falling well behind the industry average in Canada. Company feels like it is in decline. It was a much better place to work fifteen years ago. Get your license and run.

As the majority of the leadership are retired military the work environment is quite dictoral and non-colaborative.

As a professional in a non-engineering roll I found it very difficult to impliment change to move the organization forward as required by the needs of the business. "Its always how we have done it" was the mantra for most activities.

On the plus side the work life ballance was fantastic with condensed work weeks and vacation time.

Pros: Good pay, excellent coworkers, no night shift, Abbotsford has fairly low cost of living for BC.

Cons:  Very difficult to work towards license working here. Only work is doing the same avionics upgrade mod on the C-130s again and again. As of June 2023, there are no commercial contracts at all, so you wont get required 6 months time on commercial aircraft, and filling the logbook is difficult when you just run wires again and again all day.

Company with Long term contract with Government of Canada (Department of National Defense) to repair, maintain and overhaul Hercules C-130 aircraft. In addition, the company does a lot of work for international clients, mostly governments and some North America based commercial airlines.

The company is employee friendly with great benefits, flexible working hours and work-life balance.

A company with a diversified portfolio of modification and maintenance projects. It is always interesting and a great learning experience working with different people in teams. The hardest part of the job is to create streamlined communication methods with management. The most enjoyable part of the job is when I work with people with different expertise and learning from them.
