Our routes for Vancouver Base Crew is only Hong Kong and New York. You'll learn different passenger profile and your colleagues too. Since the Base is small, there are unavoidable conflicts and gossips that circles around the base, which makes it bad and most people quit because of toxic work place (not all the time, only 10% of your flight). You know, there will always be angry, and bitter people who only wants to put you down but 90% of your colleagues are great and supportive. If you really love flying, giving excellent customer service and doesn't get affected with negative colleagues, this might be the best job for you!

Ups and down on daily basis. 
I learn a lot about airports and immigrations.
Management is ok but with the new manager, its a little messy.
I would say its a mixture of Canadian culture and Asian culture, mostly asian culture for the fact that Cathay Pacific is a Hong Kong base company. 
Shift trading is usually the easiest thing for part time but now its hard.
I enjoy meeting new and different people every day. Life at the airport is never dull and of course the best things and why I'm holding on to this job is free flight everywhere.

As an ex-YVR base crew, it was probably one of my favourite jobs I have worked for. Being a flight attendent was not an easy task. You got to be always on your feet, efficient, initiative and independent at all times. Working for an Asian airline, seniority was unavoidable, but once you got used to the working habits and cultural values, you would not want to leave this job. Yvr base was a small community. Everyone became a part of the family and we were a great team! Pay was mediocre. No chance of promotion, but the flexibility in working hours and vacation days made the job worthwhile.

Management did an extremely poor job on employee satisfaction. Most of the co-worker is nice but the company keeps doing cost-cutting while demanding us to provide the same service under a lack of manpower and resources. Meanwhile, "asking" us to sign a new contract which adds the salary cap and lowers our basic salary, if not signing then you will be terminated. Awful management team and really really low salary on entry-level's jobs (not a sustainable salary). Not recommended. Lots of people left the company within these few years.

Working at Cathay pacific was very stressful.  When u needed help from supervisors u never got it I was tolded to handle situations myself but when they went on social media I was blamed for not asking supervisors for help. Double standards.  Management expected me to be at 2 different places at once. I haven't work for a bad Management company like this one in my whole life. Also they would talk in their language right in front of me about me, which is not acceptable. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great company , great management. Can’t complain. Will work there again if they are back to Canada again.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I don’t find it’s stressful at all. Don’t know why you have that question at the first place.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great! Wonderful job. Great management at all times.

I was management, so it was great. But the management above me were terrible. Favortism. Bullying. Treated staff poorly, but less when I was there, I would not stand for that. Their "coaching" skills are lacking Big Time. All the staff complained to me daily on how they were poorly treated. And I was witness to it as well. 

Not your typical 9-5, Monday to Friday office job. At the frontline on airline ground operations; always ever changing that requires high-energy and quick thinking individual to work here. Although the overnight and weekend shifts can be hard, it is a fun place to work with good job security, and most important of all - travel benefits.

Airport career is all about having chance to work in a irregular hours. Cathay Pacific is the one of all in the airport. However, the flight benefit is good, coworkers are all very nice and respectful. Then uniforms are so sharp. If you are thinking to get the work experience in the airport. Cathay Pacific Airways is a good airline to start with it.

I enjoyed my time working for Cathay Pacific Airline. I have learned a lot and enjoyed everyone I have met through my career as a cabin crew. I have met a lot of new friends through my years of working and had a lot of ups and downs just like any other job
