High Stress, Intense days, low pay and lower appreciation and support from management. Definite change in positive culture since new management hired and owner seems less involved. I also believe the manager is way in over her head. Employee turnover happens for a reason.

It is sad to see how a great place with a great name for many years that has recently expanded due to its success in the community has become a toxic workplace culture through mismanagement and is slowly unravelling at the seams.  

To survive here just keep your head down and ignore the lack of appreciation in pay and respect, and remind yourself you are doing it for the animals until you require stress leave.

While an excess of clientele is usually a healthy sign for business, i believe this resulted from past reputation, but slowly that is changing as the current situation progresses

It is not uncommon that a new hire comes in for their shift twice then never returns. Unless you can REALLY tune the bad stuff out (un-cooperative management, non-competitive wages, etc) and just appreciate being around animals this place is not for you. Staying an hour late past your shift is expected, and overtime is common. The workplace culture was at first very good, but as they were desperate to hire more and more people they didn't exactly hire the best, and they also did not provide good wages. Reception supervisors here make the same as an entry-level elsewhere nearby. The general manager is well over her head and reception scheduling was always short-staffed or too many. Some very nice people, but don't expect much room for pay raises at least compared to other nearby clinics.,

Very toxic work environment, hard to balance work and personal life, training is very rarely completed properly and there is little to no consistency. Employees are overworked and a life/work balance doesn't exist. The company has grown way to big for its employees to keep up with the workload despite there best efforts and there are rarely little to no solutions offered by management. Scheduling is a nightmare and shifts often feel like blind are leading the blind. Sincerely hope there can be changes made as at the end of the day it should be all about the animals receiving the best care; which is jeopardized when you are always understaffed & overworked. Unfair wages and no job security. High turnover rates.

I have worked at cavan for many years now.
Like all emergency Veterinary clinics, work life balance can be difficult. 
Compared to my formative years, management has improved hugely and pay is more comparable to other clinics. Like with all emerg Veterinary clinics and the vet industry in general- of course we all feel over worked and underpaid. The industry is fighting to improve this - but it is what it is at this time.
If you're a confident team player who wants to use all their skills you'll fit in well. Don't bring drama with you and you won't experience drama!

It’s a fast paced, unpredictable work environment. I’m a pharmacy technician for humans who’d had enough of humans and decided to help animals instead. I couldn’t be happier! I need to stay busy, engaged, challenged…if you want to stand around with your hands in your pockets, this place is not for you. But if you want to work hard and give the best possible care to your patients, this is a great place to work! 

They like to hire multiple employees for one role then fire them without cause right before the 3 month probationary period is up. Do not leave a stable job to work here. The environment is fast-paced and stressful and the pay is low, that is the case in basically any veterinary hospital though.

RVT beware - place is all profit driven with little care given to patients and it's super busy. Support staff is always overwhelmed, there's always someone crying in the corner, very toxic.

Working at any emergency veterinary clinic is hard for obvious reasons. However, the place has been mismanaged for a long time. Staff are over worked, underpaid and under appreciated. 

Nice coworkers, management sucks they only care about covering themselves and making money. No body approaches you if you're work is not up to par they simply fire you or demote you out of no where.

Just another small animal corporate GP clinic now. They are not equipped to see exotics or emergencies so do not expect to gain this experience here.

Bought out by Vet Strategy. Priorities are profits, no longer people and pets. 

Staff in clinic was wonderful to work with.
