My manager at the location I worked at was absolutely phenomenal and made sure you felt valued and like your opinion was heard and taken into consideration, as well as making sure that you felt comfortable and happy coming to work.

However a corporate decision was made by suits, who of course have no technical experience, to overhaul and change the way that Co-op employees were paid, wanting to somehow push out a province wide system change in only a week. 

Anyone with a tiny bit of IT experience would have been able to tell you what an absolutely awful idea that is, especially on such a wide scale. Well of course it went about as well as expected and caused an absolute gong show dumpster fire, which of course led to difficulties with Payroll and other important areas of the system.

This of course eventually ended up with some employees getting overpaid, never getting directly told they were overpaid, then having massive portions of their paychecks cut THE PAY WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

Amazing coworkers and management, absolutely god awful upper management/corporate.

You will be hired as an attendant, but you will be expected to perform like an assistant manager, performing ordering and inventory management and equipment maintenance.  This will interfere with your ability to do your actual duties which will cause frustrations for you, the customer and the manager who can't read the room.  Appeasing managers by fulfilling these expectations will not be rewarded, if anything, you will receive more duties.  Many staff have left after working diligently in good faith as their efforts are taken for granted.  The competent will not be promoted.  See this company for what it is and plan your next step.  Not a company to invest your commitment in.  There won't be an exit interview.

Most employees have to work alone for at least half of their shift, even though it is in a dangerous area. Threatened to have benefits taken away (even though I paid into them) because of something my bosses did wrong and I had nothing to do with.  There is no proper training about how to deal with emergencies or how to use emergency equipment. Regularly had to deal with equipment failures (including  equipment catching fire). Pressured to work at other locations constantly. My co-workers were calling me (not the manager) at all hours of the day to ask me how to do their job because they did not have a proper amount of time to train before being left alone. There are so many issues... I don't have time to write all of them down.  

If your looking for a career don’t bother. This branch is incredibly clicky. A lot of them have worked together for a long time and they like an easy life. If you rock the apple cart to improve your job or customer relationship you will be singled out and eventually let go or run out. Everyone that works their are friends or even related so unless you know these people first hand look somewhere else. This is the sort of job for someone who is either waiting to get in somewhere else or has other plans down the road. Don’t waste your time making a career. Management are very protective over their friends and family so be very careful. 

I found there to be some gossip and rivalries between a handful of employees which makes everyone on edge. It’s generally a pretty relaxed place to work and if you do your job efficiently you’ll be fine. Management usually just sits up in their offices which is tough when there’s a problem. My main 2 issues was that you could be the best employee, work here for years and never get a raise. And also that bad employees ( late, always calling in, slacking off,) never get reprimanded which feels unfair to the rest of the team. Overall it’s a great place to start for a first job.

some people are friendly which includes administrative staff and retail locations

Assumption of people before get to know them.  Too many cliques

constantly doing EE surveys, hardly anything gets sone

Depends on the day and what has yet to be dealt with.

Treated unfairly. Given no explanation as to why I was let go. I put my job ahead of everything and was not appreciated by head office. Head office was extremely unsympathetic to what was going on in my personal life, even though I tried not to let it affect my job performance. They offered no guidance in how they expected me to supervise my staff. I was expected to be a benevolent babysitter & was questioned constantly on how I did my job. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I was extremely disappointed on how I was treated

The community is simply great!

It's a retail job they're always going to he stressful but it's a good way to strengthen your resolve

Well secured and great to work in its very clean very cozy 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mainly helping customers the customer is priority there

I give co-op a decent review because they’ve given me area to grow, and every second weekend off. I’ve bounced around between 6-7 locations over 3.5 years and it’s been very flexible which is awesome. Biggest concern would be contracts/wages and management issues almost wherever I’ve worked

Some of the lazy staff, hard work sometimes

Work as a team, working together

Good working with the public is always a joy
