Centre Street Church

When you are first hired they make a big deal that the culture is about being part of the "family" and how privileged you are to be working there.  This terminology is used to get extra work from you.  You are expected to work 40 hours and then "volunteer" more time.  This is their way of getting around labor standards.  Be prepared to sacrifice time with your family to meet their unwritten expectations.

This "culture" comes from the senior pastor and executive leadership then works down through the ranks of pastors.

Once you no longer agree with their direction and challenge it they will find a way to remove you from your position. 

Zero work life balance. Expected to work 40 plus hours then volunteer. Overworked executive team who model poor leadership. Aren’t supported when you need it. Leadership is never available. Have 5 guiding principles but don’t use them to guide their decision. Spoke with supervisors to handle conflicts maturely, was good for a very short time, then took it to HR, then to senior leadership. Then I quit. Was a great place as a congregant and a volunteer but once I became staff things went downhill and I doubt I will ever attend there again as I don’t respect leadership. It’s a shame and I am heartbroken. 

Being a church that serves the community, you never really leave work. Outside of your regular work week, you will be expected to attend weekend services, sacrifice your and your family's personal time to be volunteered after hours. Be prepared to encounter some challenging, strong opinioned people that may make you feel judged and less than worthy to work in a church.

Flexible schedule, great people to work with, leadership opportunities, you’re always pushed to grow, everyone and everything they do is very intentional 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
None really! Lots of members/guests to appease to and you can’t please them all

Working with Centre Street Church was an eye opening experience, and I would highly recommend it to those who enjoy a volunteer position. The ministry is well funded and organized, and those who work there are kind and welcoming.

CSC is a great place to work, as they make sure to keep "the main thing", as the main thing.  
 Team collaboration is essential to most of the work there as is team communication which is openly encouraged and supported. 
 Would work there again, if the opportunity arises.

Loved serving God and His people as a custodian at CSC. Extremely supportive workplace culture.  Management was always fair and accommodating. The hardest part was shift work.  The best part was the team atmosphere. Working with a purpose.

Love working here. Challenging work, lots of opportunity to grow if you apply yourself. They care about you as a person. Sometimes it can be tough when you hit busy seasons, but also they try to build in rhythm's of work and rest.

The co-workers I had helped me a lot in learning how to organize rooms for special events. they were also friendly and very welcoming towards me joining them on a team of custodians.

Centre Street is a church and a fantastic church at that.  It was great to work there under the music/Worship arts ministry as well as the youth ministry.
