Chicopee Ski and Summer Resort

This job was okay, but not for me. Guest services involved standing for long hours, sometimes serving only a couple customers all shift and other times having non-stop work. When I worked there, there was a large glass sheet between guest services and customers, so it was impossible to hear. There is little to no room for advancement unless you're a co-op student, one of the favourites, or a returning employee. 

The check in system is confusing, and we were taught to navigate around the bugs in the system (rather than those bugs getting fixed). Starting the job was a huge learning curve and there typically wasn't enough support to help employees through that. The system also takes forever to go through, even when you understand it. Lots legal questions to ask customers and if they were upset they took it out on you.

The company usually takes on co-op students, and due to the short job duration, those students get the majority of the hours; meaning for the regular employees (who were promised full time hours) we were scheduled around 0-10 hours a week. 

I did appreciate working with other employees, who were all great people. Some of the supervisors were lovely as well. Upper management wasn't as great: always stressed and taking it out on employees. 

If you're a skier, the discount here is great: and there's food discounts as well. I wouldn't recommend relying on this job for full time hours/pay, but as a side job (and for the discount) it works well.

Would walk in at the beginning of the shift, put on apron and go to sink area, or grab a cloth and start wiping down tables in cafeteria.
Difficult for me at first as I wasn't used to having so  many dishes pile up at once, but once I got the hang of things, the hours would go by fast. 
Co-workers were a very friendly and fun to work with, and free equipment rentals and hill access were great benefits.
The fast-paced environment and lunch hour rush were a challenge to keep up with, but manageable.
Best part was having someone working the same shift, teamwork made everything faster and more enjoyable.

My typical day at work was a lot of fun. They had great people working there, and they made the day more fun. I took my job seriously but it was nice to have to have co-workers to show me to have fun. The hardest part of my job was working on the days that it was very busy and taught me to be quick and work better at a fast paste. The most enjoyable part of my jobs I've had were generally working there with co-workers. I also enjoyed dealing with customers and cleaning.

Have a spent a lot of time at this facility growing up as both a member and a employee.  If you live in the Region and you have kids between 13-18 that ski or snowboard, get them a job here.  Overall, the season can be short, but the members, guests, and other employees make this a great place to work for a seasonal job.  The trick here is to not work to much so that you can actually use your pass.  Management and services are improving from a few years a go.

I have always felt very welcomed at Chicopee. Management was always friendly and welcoming for all my questions. The workplace culture is very friendly and welcoming to everyone. It has always felt like a family and will always be my family.

I worked here as a ski instructor and loved it. It was a fun job and everyone working there was friendly and helpful if I had questions.  The schedule for the entire season was released before the hills were open which was great for planning. The only cons were long shifts and pay was minimum wage.

Laid back environment, very cold, not promised to be rehired the following seasons, even if you did an impeccable job. Not flexible hours, you would need to find someone to cover your shift if you could not come in, but everyone always worked the same shift every day so it became very difficult to be able to find someone to trade your shift with you.

Love working here. Free rentals/lift tickets in the winter months, good training, good coworkers and the management actually cares for the well being of their employees. The flexibility of hours is great as well, so being a student or having another job is easy to work around.

This company is amazing. I only worked here as a seasonal hostess this winter but I wish it were longer because my co workers and managers were bother but nice and pleasant to work with. They definitely achieved the family environment that they strive for making it a very enjoyable work experience.
