has been an enriching and rewarding experience that has significantly contributed to my professional and personal growth. As I reflect on my time here, several aspects stand out, making it necessary to share my thoughts and insights.

Company Culture:

My peers were great to work with, and we functioned very well together until management came in and wanted to make changes for the sake of making changes. We ended up taking several extra days to complete the same work we would normally have done in several hours. 
I was in the CMA program with the company, and was never given time to write exams even though I was promised to be able to take a full day off to write. When I asked for less overtime so that I could study in the evenings, I was told that I shouldn't have to work overtime if I was doing my job properly. Though the company did pay for my CMA expenses, it was extremely stressful to have to complete the program and work overtime for the company without exam days.
We were on a compressed work week schedule, and were not allowed to take time off of work for appointments. We were told by management to schedule any appointments on our weekends or assigned days off-this is understandable but can be difficult to schedule appointments only on Fridays or the weekend.
When I applied for other jobs within the company and spoke to management about it, they discouraged me from applying and told me that I was not supposed to use my current job as a "spring board" to other positions within the company, even though I'd been in my current position for several years.
May have been just my department (finance), but it was terrible to work for this company. I'd never go back or recommend anyone work there; especially with the uncertainty with CNOOC laying off so many employees.

This company has become a joke. It is a very clicky environment, especially HR (where I worked). Managers have favourites. My manager in recruitment did not have an HR background and was not very knowledgeable and could not provide her employees with proper growth opportunities. I enjoyed coming to work initially on another team. But the recruitment team is students hiring students and a part time manager who is not very helpful, so this can get frustrating. The location and overall culture is nice.
Students are easily laid off, if they feel like they don't need you. Or in my case, they will set you up for failure, squeeze as much work out of you as they can, hire your replacement, then let you go "based on business needs." Avoid this team!!!!

The weekly meetings on the recruitment team are a joke and a waste of time. They consist of the supervisor trying to be funny and talking about irrelevant things, then she will go back and forth with one person to really drag out the meeting. She also has other students check the work and claim she checked it. Students on the recruitment team show bias when hiring other students. This includes hiring those they have a personal relationship with and doing their compensation workup for it. If you are upper level management with a child who needs a job, guess what... they always let family members get the job vs actual suitable candidates.

Management on other teams seem ok and experienced. Recruitment is a mess at this company.

Luckily, I was able to network with some great adults outside of the recruitment team run by children.

•	Report to the Canadian Oil & Gas (COG) Technical Operation Services (TOS) Information Management department providing expertise and design for the successful completion of document control and records management initiatives. 
•	Ensure that assigned objectives are achieved and Facilities Engineering and TOS departments receive the support they require in complying with applicable document control and records management requirements.
•	Track EPC/Vendor Document Squad Checks
•	Receive packages from the EPC (transmittal and drawings/documents)
•	Log packages in EDMS system.
•	Print/distribute packages to the project team with specified review criteria & timeframes
•	Expedite the review packages to ensure timely return to the EPC
•	Scan the packages (if printed) or assemble the files (if electronic) for return to the EPC
•	Transmit the packages back to the EPC
•	File new drawings/documents received or created in-house, maintain file system
•	Arrange all field prints for Site drawing binders/dossiers
•	Ensure the accuracy of the home-office drawing records (binders/dossiers).
•	Assist in the quality reviewing for the content of EPC project Databooks
•	Assistance in logging drawings and documents when required
•	Assist in any file cleansing and auditing done for bulk loading (with the closed projects and non-NEBC active projects on tap for next year)

Co-workers were great and all were helpful and wanting to improve always, very energetic and willing.  Management although was eager to move and do the right thing, had difficulties understanding the finer technical points and requirements, but well intentioned. 

The toughest part of the job is to get the field operations personnel to implement what had to be done, company management seem to be  weak in this realm, and the field seem to have the complete say.  At times, after a time, field operations would finally come around to accept what had to be done.  

The greatest part of the job was the comradery with your peers and the excitement form the great learning form solving problems as they happen. Understanding the why's, the multiple disciplines that would input to the solutions provided and enhance the solutions and possibly solve other issues! . It was great to be able to  research new technologies and try those that seem economic and possible.

Typical day at work: I usually start my day at 8:00 A.M and write in my agenda first thing on what needs to get done in order

What I learned: Own up to your mistakes. If you have made a mistake, do not try to hide it. Instead, be honest about it and try to fix it

Management: Being organized with your amount of work and how disciplined in completing it and staying on top of it is a big role in management

Workplace culture: Culture is a vital and unique part of every organization. Being professional and respectful regardless of your role in the organization is the biggest reason employees choose to stay or leave

Hardest part: It's when there is less respect give to the person who is less educated, this demotivates the employee and affects his/her job

Most enjoyable part of the job: It's when everyone works as a team, and when the boss is a leader

A typical day would include overseeing the unloading and receiving of material.  Entering into SPMAT.  Creating issue tickets in SPMAT and overseeing the picking process.  Re organizing the warehouse to meet the ever changing needs of the site.  Continuously adjusting the way the laydowns are organized for proper storage of long term materials.  Escort of trucks from the gate, Proper safety standard adhered to at all times. 
The learning curve was steep on a daily basis, new materials arriving daily, Other then regular consumable, we received many specialty items that needed special storage,
We had a very tight knit team at this site, we found the best in the bust situations we had and keep a smile on each others face.  It is better to work happy then mad, you get more accomplished and are more likely to avoid incidents
The hardest part of the day was the 12 hour shift, but with the smiles, time went fast.
The teammates I worked with made this the best job site ever..

My average day would start with a work order handout,followed by getting a work permit.The work to follow can be a diversity of maintenance tasks that includes trouble shooting , parts sourcing and time managing.                                                                             The most enjoyable part of the job is trying to improve effieciency and finding ways to do tasks safer,faster and less costly.The co-worker interaction at breaks and during  work is very key to having a enjoyable work day.                                                                         The hardest part of a maintenance job is to make repetitive work interesting wich I mentioned to always try to make improvements in how your tasks are preformed.                                                            The management at canexus value opinions of their employees and make work projects feel like a team effort.

It started off great there but don't be fooled. The more you do, the more they ask you to do, to the point where it's impossible to keep up. Without an increase in pay. In fact if you go from consultant to employee you get a decrease in pay.Very two-faced management. They're all sunshine and smiles then let people go with no warning. I've seen them smile and banter with people and 20 minutes later the employee is terminated. Keeping people on edge is part of their culture. Every week there at head office there would be 3 or so people shown the door, and long term employees seemed to get a real ego boost out of it. Not that they're safe as they let go one third of all managers in April. All people seem to do there is complain about the other departments. I know numerous people who have left to start their own company. I would not recommend it.

The days are typically filled with brainstorming on developing and improving the plans towards the next Turnaround. After a major Turnaround the team which comprises mainly contract planners and coordinators is down sized and the smaller team focus on outages.
The management has been the centre point and kept the mix team of staff and contract working in harmony.
The hardest part of the job is the crunch time (3 - 4 weeks) prior to the Turnaround where all contacts with contract services are reconfirmed as well as outstanding long lead or bulk purchases.
The most enjoyable part of the job is how everybody (staff and contractors) pitch in to see the execution of the Turnaround and the friendship that is established with paths that are crossed during the course of meeting someone new.
