In order to advance at Christie I had to move to night shift where a better position was waiting for me. For a while this worked great. However, the management has made some serious mistakes when hiring supervisors for night shift. They hired young and inexperienced leaders, who don't know how to respect their fellow employees. Also these supervisors were hired internally, I'd suggest to the senior management, when they hire someone from their company to be a supervisor, at least hire someone who was a good worker. Instead they keep hiring hypocrites who follow people's every move, huge micromanagement issues on nights. I'm gonna conclude this portion by saying the people on night shift get treated like they are in the kindergarten, and I am not exaggerating!

There is a great disconnect between night shift and day shift. Basically in order to advance, you have to be on days. No matter what skills you have, applying for internal jobs will get you nowhere, since nobody even knows you exist. At least that was my experience. On day shift, there are many advantages, and it is a much more fun place to work at than on night shift.

I was able to learn a lot relating to my field and I am thankful for that.

Hardest part of my job was having to deal with my supervisor every few minutes, because he had to stick his nose in everything everyone was doing.

Most enjoyable part of the job was when the supervisor was on vacation or couldn't come into work. Everyone still worked the same except people were smiling more.

Arrive at work and begin loading CAD s/w for: 
1) developing new board schematic details or; 
2) FPGA simulations or;
3) signal integrity simulations (Hyperlinx) and PCB design guidelines
4) System Test scripts or
5) documentation or
6) engineering design release

Later spend time in the lab debugging prototype designs.

New development platforms (e.g.: DxDesigner, Quartus II, ISE) require continuous learning and thinking "outside the box"
The hardest part of the job occurs when schedule demands a design decision and I might have to give up a preferred design approach.

The most enjoyable part of the job is working, learning and joking with the other team members during the design development.



I enjoyed my time at Christie working in the Demo Inventory department. I had a great magager who always communicated with the Inventory team to ensure clarity and transparency with every transaction. 
The hands on nature of the position exposed me to the ever changing technical aspects of the equipment I was testing prior to shipment to potential clients. I quickly learned, week to week, all the technical requirements needed for each demo showcase and maintained a great rapport with the many parties involved with each demo shipment (sales, logistics, dealers and customers). 

There's wonderful opportunities to work with brilliant people and amazing tech and it's an appealing factor of working here. 

Christie is one of the oldest companies in the area and that means there's a lot of culture, methodologies and practices that are slowly evolving to catch up with the rest of the high tech sector. They're improving greatly in these aspects but there's still room to grow.

The company is a leader in its markets but needs to diversify more and be less afraid of working outside it's competencies.

I do enjoy working here.

Focus on quality at every level of the product, production, processes and organization. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
We just simple couldn't make more projectors for the first Avatar movie. It was waiting for the rollout of our new product line 😉

Multicultural, vibrant work environment with respect for each other. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Focus on quality of the product and our environment.

Maintain automated machines, develop continuous improvement projects and implement new processes for new products.  Knowledgeable in using smart tools, assembly traceability and implementing factory visualization projects.  Management team is not balanced and certain areas are weaker than others, which can create silos of knowledge and poor team development.
Hardest park of workday is getting everyone on shopfloor on same page to produce monthly numbers.
The people are very knowledgeable and friendly.

- come in, check email. reply emails according to their priorities. 
- learning never stops. there is always something new to learn on a weekly basis
- management knows what they are doing. maybe more emphasis needs to be put in to appreciate even the people who didn't fully contribute towards the project.
- the hardest part of the job would be to make sure everyone is available for a meeting at the same time.

The people I work with on a daily basis are great. Products are interesting to work with, and it's nice to go to popular places like theme parks and movie theaters and seeing the products in action.
Management is all over the place with how to proceed and success in the next quarter. Seems like the business plan and organization of the company changes every 6 months. Moral is low in the office, and nothing being done to address it.

Be yourself, be honest and bring your best.
Christie is a great place to work and they take pride in what they do. Be enthusiastic and bring your knowledge. Christie hires the best.


Christie was a great place to work. While a very engineer-centric environment, I still was very comfortable as a designer there. Management has really pushed for UX in their products, and the UX team there is very strong. I learned a ton about the industry, and they were patient with me as I got up to speed with domain knowledge. The most enjoyable part of the job was the connections I made with the people there.
