A typical day at work:
A typical day at Cineplex was busy and energetic. I worked at the concession stand, helped guests with their orders, processed payments, and maintained cleanliness throughout the work area. I also assisted in the kitchen and supported my teammates during high-traffic movie times.

What I believe I learned:
I learned how to manage time effectively, stay calm under pressure, and provide excellent customer service. It also taught me how to multitask and communicate clearly with both customers and coworkers.

Management:
Management at Cineplex was supportive and well-organized. They provided clear instructions, were approachable, and often appreciated our efforts during peak hours. They also offered feedback to help improve performance.

Workplace culture:
The workplace culture was friendly and team-oriented. Everyone helped each other during busy times, and there was a good mix of fun and professionalism. It was a welcoming environment for new employees.

The hardest part of the job:
The hardest part was managing long lines and large crowds during weekends and movie premiers. It required fast thinking and teamwork to keep up with the demand while keeping customers satisfied.

The most enjoyable part of the job:
The most enjoyable part was interacting with customers, especially helping families and kids have a fun movie-going experience. I also enjoyed working with a great team that supported each other.

I learned a lottt… from working the register, to making the popcorn, filling the dispensers & attending to customers. It was a very welcoming environment with NO RACISM!!! I literally had problems getting hired anywhere else. I had to use my English name & when I went for interviews I never got hired but cineplex was soo diverse & that’s what I love about them the most:) I think the hardest part of the job was taking out the trash at night during the winter season. Although it got fun after I made friends. Everything else was fun. The most enjoyable part except break of course lol was actually working. I really had a passion for it I loved going to work. I wanna go back 😭 anyways if they hire you? Take it!!! But y’all… please don’t finish all the positions I want one too😭😭😭

Such a fun place to work minus the sets between movies. It gets kind of boring especially when you finish cleaning and filling up things. Rushes are only fun when you’re working with people who know what they’re doing. The managers are so sweet and understanding, but they hire airheads. I literally work with people who did not adapt even after probation was done. They should’ve been fired but cineplex kept them. Other than that I recommend it.

Coworkers are all very friendly, as are a few of the managers, however there seems not to be much communication between managers, which is why it's so frustrating to acknowledge that there seems not to be much communication between managers. It might be because of this that so many things in the theatre have remained broken for so long -- including a number of the tills that are needed for cast members to do their ticket/food/arcade card selling jobs properly -- despite a recent, very expensive auditorium renovation having been completed as early as January.

Worked here for 4 years & it’s totally not worth it. The pay (minimum wage) sucks for all the cleaning, late nights, etc. that they make you do. Management doesn’t care about their employees, as they view them as easily replaceable. Most people they hire are young & inexperienced, so management likes to pull a fast one regarding the government rules of payroll & other worksafe/employment standards. They don’t care about their employees at all. 

When I worked at the Fairview location for a year, I was a host and busser for the longest time. I did eventually get some training as a server, but there was a great deal of favouritism and a racially charged environment. Managers at this location participated in gossip and picked favourites regarding hours and who got training. Some had to fight hard, and some were given opportunities without even asking. This was way back but I would be careful with clicky jobs like this.

coworkers are fun, and management CAN be great. hours arent so great, especially during less busy seasons its likely youll only get one 3 hour shift. there is favouritism toward some staff, and not much transparency with tips/tip out. great for experience and easy to get hired. managers are very friendly and understanding, just not very communicative or organized. they're very flexible with scheduling though, if you need time off for school or other jobs.

left because of a coworker who I couldn't stand, if you're a server there are no "sections" like a restaurant so some greedy coworkers will take all of the customers orders and tips, and wont help clean the theatre at all, this happened too many times and I had to pick up their slack, left because I finally had enough, surprisingly management wasn't bad

A good place to work especially when balancing school workload. Very chill and relaxed on some days and can be busy sometimes, depending of the movie release date. Best part were getting along with co-workers and even management. 

As a cast member, I earn the minimum wage in Ontario, but I get a 30-minute break during each shift. Every week, I receive complimentary movie tickets. While working, beverages and popcorn are provided for free. Most of my coworkers are quite friendly. Sometimes, when blockbuster movies are released, it gets really busy due to the high influx of people.
