Good place to start your career, however, if you are experienced then it's advisable that do not apply at Citco. There's no work life balance and many times upper management is completely unaware about the situation on the floor. Managers and VP are strongly knitted and hardly listen to the employees and often tries to resolve the matters by themselves which results in constant shifting from one team to another. Expect to work 48+ hours a week which could be a big issue if you are not living in downtown. There's very little growth opportunity and a lot of times the right people do not get promoted due to favourism. The work and salary is not very competitive when compared to the the competitors. If you like to party hard then this could be a good place though as they have quarterly parties with free booze. The parties are pretty wild. Also, they provide free beer after 5, and unlimited supply of fizzy drinks and juices. 

If you have a Yes Sir attitude, then you may have a better prospect to get promoted to senior or supervisor position. The managers, VP and the upper management only cares about their year end bonus even if it means great discomfort to the people working below them. A lot of times, management will promise promotions but it never happens and they promote their favourites or hire externally which greatly affects the morale. I have seen 3 cases with in a year where people left simply because they were  promised a position and at the last moment someone else was promoted or Hired. Teams issues are never heard and communication never reaches the upper management. Everything is tigh lipped and remains with in the respective teams. Their expectations are work like a donkey all day long. There are cases where people simply walked out because the funds they were given were too complicated and hardly any training was provided. If managers and VP get a loss on their year end bonuses then expect to get fired and you will never get an apportunity to provide a feedback to the upper management. 

Overall, I will not recommend this place unless you really need money or taking your first step into the professional industry. If you are entering the workforce for the first time then It will teach you to do multi tasking and how talk to high networth client and investors (depending on the department). It will definitely teach a little about the financial world, and accounting.

For me, CITCO has been a challenging but rewarding place to work. A typical day at work for me starts with reviewing emails received from various stakeholders from around the world to assess what I will need to focus on for the day. The requests can vary from inquires of net asset values, to ad hoc requests, to reviewing transaction documents for trades to be processed. To be successful in the investor relations department a member must have excellent customer service skills, be able to multitask and make good judgement calls on a minute by minute basis.

Throughout my career I have had the pleasure of working with an array of highly skilled and interesting group of individuals. My relationship to these individuals in many cases has extended beyond the work place and blossomed in to long lasting friendships.

The hardest part of the job is undoubtedly the long hours spent in the office away from my family. Although my colleagues have become like a second family to me it is extremely difficult to spend so much time away from the real thing.

The most rewarding part of my job is the sense of accomplishment I get from assisting both internal and external stakeholders. I am very much a people person and I thrive in a client facing environment such as investor relations.

•    Prepared periodical financial reporting for the Hedge Funds over $1 billion including the determination of Net Asset Value and preparing the statement of Assets and Liabilities and Profit and Loss Statement
•    Reviewed cash, trade and position reconciliation to custodian banks and investment managers and resolve breaks with general accounting acumen including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and accounts in a timely manner 
•    Monitored irregularities through ad-hoc reports, verify and modify derivative security set ups in the data base through investigation in Bloomberg Terminal
•    Processed corporate action trough trades to reflect correct holdings and cost of the client portfolios.
•    Committed to external auditors to prepare yearly audit reports and effectively communicate and discuss about audit requests
•    Ensured all trades and capital activities are timely and accurately inputted into the appropriate client portfolios
•    Liaised with international clients and other Citco Offices worldwide, to ensure that client needs are met.

Citco can be a great place to work but it can also be awful depending on what team you end up on. The industry as a whole is extremely competitive which means many admins, including Citco, are very focused on costs. This often results in senior managment placing unrealistic expectations on staff and often leavers are not replaced. Many of the managers and VPs you may work for are very good managers and care for their staff but of course many of them are overworked and stressed because of the above which can trickle down to junior members of the team and create a stressful work environment. Fund admin/accounting itself can be a very repetitive job but clients like to keep you on your toes. If you get into a good team with managers who are interested in coaching you there's lots you can learn. Citco is a large company and offers many services from offices around the world so mobility is available which is a nice perk. 


- People work Overtime until midnight just to show they are working...not actually to do work. Makes the rest of the employees who want to leave on time look bad. NO work life balance supported by the company
- Management does not work to support you in anyway, rather they simply give up on you
- Job itself was boring, repetitive
- People switch many times back and forth to this company for career progression because in-house progression to top levels is rare if you dont do this
- make you bill 7.5 hours a day even though you work 8 hours a day
- H.R is non-existent and doesnt care about you
- Seniority is HUGE, new individuals dont get any recognition or perks of the job, this includes trust of the management to complete your work. seniors will not work while juniors do everything and seniors do not face reprimand. 
- If you try to take the vacation you are ENTITLED to, your manager WILL give you a hard time about it.

With all due respect, this place is the worst I’ve ever experienced. From management to systems to pay. Though my client (largest in the company) and investors were amazing. 

Unless you’re desperate or have no previous work experience, I HIGHLY recommend applying elsewhere. Upper management is a mess, depressing work culture, high turnover, no real growth opportunities, and no wifi. 

Depending on the team you join, you may never get proper training and expected to know everything. Systems are outdated and slow. Also, team communication is almost nonexistent. 

Internally it’s refered to as sh!tco. 

Juniors + seniors don’t get bonuses, while Sups+ don’t get paid OT. Both are overworked. 

Oh, and if you come with previous work/corporate experience, they won’t care. You’ll get base pay. You’re not valued before or after you join. 

Again, unless you’re desperate for work/money, apply elsewhere.

There is a training period but there is no proper and effective training structure that will equip the employee to efficiently execute work. Each employee is overloaded with work and being expected to accomplish tasks like an artificial intelligent being (robot). Annoying questions and requests for updates every two hours from mgr/vp. Excessive mutli-tasking which eventually turn into an unhealthy work practice as it affects the work focus and prioritization of the employee. The technological system/platform before i left has a lot of glitches which adds burden to work. Observations with some senior mgt is that as if their work is the elite work and they are the most brilliant people to work with in the world - inflated ego. Hey, we are just back office employees, be humble!

The main job responsibilities are to prepare cash and position reconciliations for different clients, and to support other global offices in Citco.

Even thought the job itself seems to be tedious, I still learned a lot from it. Many of what I learned is how a hedge fund and financial markets function in reality. Also I acknowledged many private equities during the work, i.e. bank debt.

The hardest part of the job is to meet multiple deadlines for many clients, especially during the morning. Good time management is necessary.

By doing the reconciliations, you may encounter many new financial products. And I found it very interesting to look into the behind of them and why the broker treats them a different way that Citco does. That's the most enjoyable part of the job.

As an Operations Analyst you will be part of a team within the Client Service Delivery (CSD) team. The role will encompass direct contact and collaboration with our clients, external auditors and third party stakeholders, and internal functions of our operations such as Reconciliations. The Reconciliations function is responsible for reconciling client transactions to third party data, to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the records. The focus of the CSD function is to identify and resolve issues described in the third party reconciliations, to ensure that the portfolio is maintained (cash flows and security updates), and that any residual risk is captured and signed off prior to production of financial statements.

I worked here for 2 years. Overall less than positive experience. The benefits and salary are competitive. The work is can be tedious or monotonous. Very process driven and segregated. Regular follow ups and performance evaluations. All tasks well done can go out the window in light of small mistakes. All work is very monitored. During busy times can be expected to work overtime. Very young management, can be a good and bad thing. Must play politics to advance. Little job security, can be put on probation or asked to leave any time (happened to 6 co workers while i was there). Good for getting your foot in the door, NOT a long term career choice.
