A typical day at City Centre Park would be arriving and checking and printing off a schedule to see what is happening for the day. Then, taking care of any tasks that need immediate attention. This might include responding to voice mail messages or emails or setting up a meeting room if required.  

I learned a great deal in time management and how to prioritize tasks. 

I do not work closely with the management because I am typically scheduled nights and weekends. Management works business hours and so I typically work independently with little to no supervision. 

The hardest part of the job is taking on multiple roles simultaneously. There are times when there are many customers and staff need your attention at the same time and you need to be able to manage these tasks. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is the people I work with as well as the fact that the job varies daily. Some days I could be training staff for an event, the next day I could be dealing with paperwork and correspondence and the next doing data entry. 

I enjoy the work however the schedule is often nights and weekends where I would like to have a schedule closer to business hours.

The ownership just straight up could care less who you are, or what you do for their company.

They have a habit of letting people go just shy of their 3 month period. Don't inquire about anything or else you will be on the chopping block and will use it as a "negative" attitude. 

Your direct supervisors are actually quite lovely people, and your day-to-day coworkers are nice as well. Everyone voices their distaste for working there, and their longest-standing employee has only been there about a year. Turnover is high, people are sick daily. 

Tips are your own and not pooled, but it's very hit or miss and is more lucrative anywhere else. 

The patio isn't opening until mid-June. So don't expect a busy/long patio season if considering employment here. 

All in all, this is a miss. There are numerous other establishments that are better run, and that actually value the employees, rather than avoid having to pay benefits, sick days etc. There's a definite pattern with these owners that should not be ignored. 

This place is the definition of a toxic work environment. The owners couldn't care less about their staff. Expect to be disrespected constantly.

Your time means nothing to them. You're either scheduled for a short shift during the slow hours, or they overstaff during the evening and send you home early. Either way, don’t count on making decent money. Turnover rate is extremely high here.

Speaking of money, expect minimum wage. With the business being painfully slow, most days you're just standing around waiting for a customer to walk in.

If you're looking forward to making good tips, look elsewhere. Their tip out system is stupid, and with business being so slow most nights you won't walk home with much.

Nothing ever works, and management will pretend to care about broken equipment then forget about it.

Their food is the worst in Victoria. I get it's a bowling alley, but still. I would never bring my family here.

City Centre Park has all the ingredients to be a highly profitable and thriving business — location, facilities, and community interest. However, its potential is being held back by leadership that seems more focused on superficial investments (like a cotton candy machine) than on the people who actually make the place run.

If more effort and resources were put into fostering a healthy internal culture, supporting staff with meaningful benefits, and reducing turnover, the ripple effect would be felt across every aspect of the business. A strong, valued team leads to better service, smoother operations, and ultimately, greater profitability.

It’s frustrating to see recurring issues go unaddressed while the focus remains on short-term distractions. City Centre Park could truly shine if leadership prioritized long-term growth through people-first strategies.

It's not an easy job every day, there are busy times and challenges along the way, but there is support and it's rewarding.

If you like a busy environment with lots going on where you are rewarded for doing a good job, this is the place!
If you're looking for a job where you collect a pay check for doing as little as possible, maybe keep looking.


No Job security, HUGE Disconnect between management and staff. Management have no sympathy for any of the issues facing staff, no attempt at connecting with staff other than to order their free lunch every day. They believe they are doing a good job, but they fire people with very little reasoning and no one is safe. Very toxic environment with lots of people talking behind each others backs despite  having a good time. Scheduling is really bad, management have no concept of busy times vs low times, and believes having the bare minimum amount of staff is acceptable week in week out. 

Blessed to not have to go through the mental torture that is working there. 

Stay away from this place at all costs. The place is a complete and utter waste of time and effort with a complete lack of trust, autonomy, and culture that will hurt your resume and cost you future positions. 

Ask around, there isn't a positive statement out there. Micromanaging, unprofessional, ego, etc. An impossible place to rectify when the culture is set by an office that refers to staff as idiots. Ownership makes every mistake in the book and condones negative attitudes and people. 

Ask around and then save yourself, its just a broken place with few standards; unless you like arguing with customers which appears to be acceptable.

The company has so much potential for growth, is open to change and there are many ling-tenured employees,  which I think speaks to the overall culture and ability to retain staff. It's a great place if you are committed to participating in a team environment. It's best suited for people who are adaptable and who  can work in a fast-paced environment. Many managers and supervisors have been promoted from within and cross-trained during my time here, so there is opportunity for advancement based on your experience and performance.  

After a 37yr career with government I retired and came to City Centre Park.  I have been given lots of opportunities during my time with the organization including moving into a management position.  I feel respected and valued in all the roles that I have had during my time here.  Upper management are supportive, understanding and easy to work with and for.  I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a fun and challenging atmosphere to apply for a position with this company. 

I enjoyed working here , i learned a lot to help developed my personality.
The management are very supportive to the employees need.  The culture was nice , i feel the spirit of family and fun. Sometimes i feel so tired because it was so busy and we have limited resources for manpower but  not all the times it was still manageable.
They provide meals for the kitchen staff. Teamwork was also visible among the teams.
