A day at this position is never typical.  It is varied with dealing with the public in numerous areas, specifically in tasks related to utility management and billing, and the provision of public services.  This position works with various higher level department managers and City Councillors, and provides submit reports on a variety of subjects related to the public sector or on long term financial planning matters and issues.  This position oversee numerous employees and is fortunate to work with a group of skilled individuals who are dedicated to providing the best customer service possible given the constraints placed upon them. 

The hardest part of the job is trying to provide services to the public and to help them understand why rate increases are important even when the City is experiencing rising operating and capital costs.  

The most enjoyable part of the job is the satisfaction gained knowing that programs that you have designed or worked on are implemented throughout the organization and that you have contributed to the success and positive image of the City.

i had a great career with the city, it was fun working with staff and students over the years, ive learnt alot, the hardest part of the job was watermain breaks at -40 temps but we got through them as any other day, my co-workers were great and hardly complained but when they did, things were done about it whenever possible...safety was our main concern at all times...my most enjoyable times when i had to explain to the general public on why and when we did our jobs on the streets and/or lanes causing traffic problems

A typical day at work was 8-5:15 with every 3rd Fridays as paid day off. Learnt a lot of municipal job roles - parking tickets administrator, utilities specialist, property tax receivables etc.. The team was always supportive of training and I learnt a lot of various job roles which made me feel more useful to the organization.
There was no real hard part except when certain citizens refused to pay their utilities bill.
The most enjoyable part of the work was being enabled to learn new tasks and that there was time for that in my job.

Nothing it's a terrible place to work.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They hired a consultant to get rid of our union.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment is toxic and negative.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Bombarded with work no one wants to do.

I learned to manage public infrastructure projects and collaborate across departments. Management is approachable, communicative, and focused on team success. Workplace culture is respectful, professional, and community-oriented. The hardest part is balancing multiple deadlines, but it builds strong time-management skills

It was a good summer watching kids and learning from them. I got to play games that I didn't know were still popular. MY co-workers were fun to work with as well. My boss was very nice to everyone and all the kids.

I worked for the city for 7 years. It went from a great place to work to dreading coming in every day.
The work life balance has gone way down and so has the morale.

While the culture is amazing, the opportunities for advancement are less than good. 

The typical work day is busy and all of the City of Prince Albert employees seem to be friendly and hardworking.

A typical day for me was taking Legal Payments as the Head Cashier. I would wave out court cases to other court locations and processing legal documentation.

I enjoyed working with the company, and I would always try and gain another work experience again if given the chance.  Workplace safety is a great asset for the company.
