I love working at Clifton for the people, and some days, that is about it. 

There is little room for advancement for mid-level staff, as there have been few new hires in the last five years that have not been grey-haired senior practitioners picked up during the economic decline in Western Canada. 

There is the expectation of long hours, when it is required, which is not unreasonable. This has to be largely managed at an individual level. There is an opportunity to bank time, but only when one is 100% chargeable prior to reaching 40 hours as a professional. 

Management varies with office and practice group. 

The salary is on-par for consulting, and the benefits are very basic.

As a part of the materials group, the starting wage is comparable to that of a laborer, but is typically accompanied by a raise when transferring from part time to full time. That being said it is performance based advancement and with a good attitude and work ethic the managers are very supportive. The atmosphere is typically very friendly on a day to day basis. It is notable that the managers do try to offer a balance for work and life but it is construction and in the busy season it can be chaotic with long hours.

Very high employee turnover, Management was unsupportive and negative.  

Way too short of notice for job assignments, the epitome of office politics, field staff are treated in a very disrespectful manner and blamed for anything that goes wrong, even when they had no association with the issue.
Managers fired all existing employees and hired former associates from competing company, Managers played favourites.

Was forced to use broken equipment frequently. The lab supplies typically ran out for a long period of time before being replaced such as gloves, cleaning supplies, thermometers.

I worked a summer with the Materials group as a Junior Tech. It is a relatively small to mid-size family company but punches well above its weight and they consistently win major projects. They offer some great training experiences including Off-Road driver training near Bragg Creek. The hourly pay is slightly lower than other companies but they usually offer more hours which pays out more in the end. Overall, the people are great and I'd go back in a heart beat! 

I worked at least eight hours a day and 6 days in week. I learned about time management, work with different client with different requests and how should i deal and work with my coworkers to share jobs and finish projects on time. The most hardest part of job was driving in the winter time but work in field was enjoyable .

Pros: Amazing and knowledgeable Management. Pay is decent. Lots of hours.

Cons: Work politics are very integral part of the experienced worker group. Also, you'll likely have no life because the work-life balance is zero. You're on call whole week and weekend and the schedule is released only one evening before.

I will recommend Clifton for anyone willing to travel and works independent most of the time. If you enjoy working in the field, and taking on fun and challenging task, then Clifton is the right place

Good place to start a career, they do typically want you to work overtime if that is something you are looking for; there is lots of opportunities for extra hours. Everyone is very nice and friendly. Clifton is usually veryyyy busy in the spring and summer

As long as you work their core hours, you are allowed the freedom to perform your work. 

They also have lunch and learns like most other companies.

Benefits are ok but slightly below average.

Works independent most of the time, and a lot of travel . I will recommend Clifton Associate for anyone willing to travel around small towns working on projects.
