Co-op Atlantic

I worked with Triceps computerized inventory warehouse management system.  I was a key player in daily problem resolution and decision making.  Daily cycle counts, data management, emails, buyer assistance for information and correction of critical data, credit and returns, forklift problems, receiving errors, missing products, warehouse placement and re-alignment of warehouse positioning of warehouse inventory for optional efficient selecting, receiving and shipping of customer orders.  Often called on for projects, picking, replacement supervisor/lead hand, forklift, receiving and various other warehouse duties. I worked a lot of over-time for various positions to fill-in and finish the required work. The hardest part of the job was constant re-alignment and re-positioning of product to meet high and low demands for seasonal/high volume products.  I enjoyed the challenges and responsibilities of my final position with Co-op Atlantic.  My co-workers were a great bunch to work with, each person worked as a team and made my time with Co-op Atlantic a very positive experience.

A typical day at work for me consisted of ongoing negotiations with vendors in order to provide goods and services to more than 150 retail locations. Providing ongoing support and programs to the stores through our weekly flyer along with seasonal events. A typical day could consist of many support calls from the stores which could require a lot of in the moment trouble shooting. I have had the opportunity to take several in house management training and supervision courses which have aided in my ability to deal with customers and subordinates. The hardest part of my job was dealing with the inconsistency of what direction the company was headed, one day we were going in one direction and the next day we were going in another. Co-op was once a thriving company and could be considered one of the best places to work in Moncton. Co-op was a fun and exiting place to work and grow your career. Unfortunately a  recent chain of poor decision's by the board of directors and our CEO have left Co-op Atlantic nearly bankrupt, and hundreds of employees unemployed. As the business winds down I will also join the unemployment ranks with the others.

I go in and see how much chicken i have to tray that day. I set up my supplies and record my data. When i'm done my chicken, i go help out another dept. until all our orders are produced. Then, we all get together and palletize products. I then, look after small details on nightly list before end of shift.                                                         My co-workers are mostly young and male. There are only 2 women working there now. I'm learning to work in that kind of environment. The hardest part of the job is not knowing when you leave and that it's a really cold environment.                                                           The most enjoyable part of the job is working with food and the casual environment.

I was responsible for overall accounting leading to the preparation of period and year end financial statements. Also I dealt with external auditors in preparation of external published consolidated financial statements as this was deemed a public company for GAAP. My favorite activity was preparing corporate income tax returns for the company and it's subsidiaries. I left this job to retire. My biggest achievement was obtaining a scientific research tax credit for the company of over $1 million.

My day was very busy as they had laid off some of the staff in the deparment and we had weekly deadlines to meet . We worked as a team which helped a lot. The hardest part of the job was doing two people's job daily and making sure everything was done on time. I enjoyed the accounts receivable part of the job the best.

We worked all afternoon shifts, responsible for retrieving the properly dated food products for distribution to stores. Management let us do our jobs with minimal supervision, and working with employees who put in what you were putting into the job made for a busy but rewarding work experience.

Hardest part of my job was seing local small businesses struggling in todays economy. In saying this also gave me the opportunity to have good working relationships with my customers.

I learned about teamwork, co-operation. It was a friendly place to work for. People helping people get their job done. There were always social activities going on. (Big Xmas party, Bowling in October) 

It is a shame that the company had to be dissolved because of mismanagement and unpaid debts by customers.

Was a great place to work. Started off in files as a fike ckerk and at the end of my career Executive Secretary. Unfortunately Coop Atlantic went into receivership and we lost 30% of our pension. 

I loved working at  CO OP ATLANTIC had hoped that I would retire with co op. the atmosphere was relax as everyone got along and did what was needed to get done on time. as speed was important to get loads out and delivered on time
