I worked for the east of England coop branch. Before you start you have one day on a lap top to learn about working for the Coop, To cover the  rules and regulations, and how to serve customers, and Health and safety. Then you are placed on the Kiosk. That's thrown in at the deep end. But a supervisor stands behind you to help you through the process. I found it a bit intimidating as there is a lot going on and a lot to learn.

The supervisors are stressed as they have to cover quite a lot so they get flustered. Each time you have your assessment to see how your doing. You leave feeling depressed. You get three then you are ether in or out.

The hardest part of the job is the Kiosk, but I loved it as it goes from slow to very fast and keeps you on your toes. You need to be outgoing to make friends and the other staff are mostly happy and good to work with.
Also you have to cover all other activities from stocking the shelves to working in the warehouse section. And to be able to cover any part of the operation as requested.

Sorry I don't rate the training information. Its poor where the tills are concerned. And the touchscreens on the old IBM tills don't always work properly. Occasionally you have to repeatedly tap on the screen to get something entered. If you select £20 cash given, it sometimes entered £10 given, Or vice versa. They revamped the shop but failed to revamp the tills. Big shame. If like me you have not worked in a supermarket before, then best of luck with the East of England Coop.

The job itself I quite enjoy and I enjoy working with the majority of the other staff members. Management is usually quite lazy and have a habit of hiring people with a similar work ethic recently. 
My working schedule is a nightmare, I am expected to be available from 06:00-22:00/7 days a week and the rota is often changed without me being asked or even told beforehand which makea it very stressful and like I always have to check which makes it difficult to make plans. There is no work/life balance.
Customers make this job very difficult, stressful and downright dangerous sometimes with theft and violence happening at least once every shift, there's no sympathy from management and local authorities do nothing. Hours at my location have been cut considerably to cover the losses from stealing because they refuse to provide security.

A supermarket, generally pleasant and well managed

I would arrive and check if there were any deliveries to be made, if there were, plan my day and routes, if not work within the shop, usually on the checkout

There isn’t one! Very expensive & the management leave a lot to be desired

Everything is stressful, cut the staff, then expect you to do more

Rubbish! Very cliquey, favouritism is rife

Too stressful for someone getting older but the younger ones don’t do much

everyday is different, fast paced and lovely colleagues. learnt a lot about customers needs, a lot about health and safety and being able to identify risks. hardest part about the job was having to move heavy loads and on your feet pretty much the whole shift. But working with a fun a dynamic team made me forget about the long hours and constantly moving heavy loads. also you get to meet lovely customers.

A Day at this job is usually fast paced and time will fly by if the shop is a very busy one, i learned a lot from this store to hopefully progress me into different lines of retail work, management can be very hit and miss as depending on store the managers either really help everyone out like the store I am in at the time of this review  or do nothing like in stores i have previously been in.

Easy to get along in a small team of 10 -15 colleagues which helps working in this mess of a company. Higher management only care about KPIs and making more profit from already thinly stretched  team, constant mistakes by head office (wrong prices etc.), not being able to take a break as either you are working 1 on 1 (called to tills every 10 minutes) or simply too much to do. Simply put, the environment is very stressful and it;s just not worth it.

I loved working for The Co-operative Food but I feel the don't value there staff members and didn't seem to care about how many hours you would work as long as the store is open then there happy. I could open up 6:30am and if someone went sick I would be expected to say till 10pm ever after ringing other stores for help which they didn't most of the time.

got in at 6am, unloaded stock and continued throughout the day to stack shelves as they were depleted. Only got interrupted from this task if another department needed a hand, the deli needed working, a customer required assistance or I was discounting produce or scanning the rubbish instead (my two other jobs). Honestly it was physical, tiresome work.

As we make team to do the best for our Store n got 5 rank for more then 3 months...
Co-Workers was good but few was Bad n due to that our store was goin down in ratting ....
Hardest part was dat every morning i was setting up my dairy product by date wise.....
We was always finishing the work b4 we finished our Duty..
