-A typical day at work consisted of working stock to the shelves, serving customers as need be, cleaning any messes that happened and otherwise tidying up the store as was needed.
-I learned how to better manage my time and keep closer track of tasks that had been assigned to me.
-The management at Co-Op performed admirably but had moments where it felt disconnected from its' customers and workers by making decisions that ultimately frustrated customers.
-My co-workers were a bunch of easy-going people who worked hard and were easy to talk to. They always got the jobs finished that were assigned to them.
-The hardest part of the job would have to be the C.A.S.M setups where we would rearrange all the stock on each shelf by pulling all the items off each shelf and switching the placement of each shelf unit according to the newest shelf layout handed down by upper management. Not an especially hard task, merely time consuming.
-The most enjoyable part of the job to me is helping each customer as they come in, be it finding items, answering questions or helping them with any heavy lifting.

For all my fellow meat cutters, this is not the place to be, not the co-ops in medicine hat anyway.  The major downer of working here is the management and the hours.  You get just under the amount of hours to be designated full time(38hr/wk), so you get nearly full time hours with none of the benefits that come with it.  Also there were many times when you work 7-10 days in a row for no apparent reason, especially if you made a complaint to the manager.  There is more managers there than you can fathom and they have nothing better to do than to nitpick other departments to make themselves look better.  There is also little to no hope of advancement there.  All of the managers are buddy buddy with head management so even if they screw up, it gets overlooked.  This is the only meat cutting job I've had where I left out of sheer frustration.  People that have worked there for years say it gets worse every year.

I like the Deli department because there are lots of different things to do, helping customers with their meat orders, packaging food and replenishing stock.  Alot of the food is prepackaged, and just needs to be assembled etc.. and there's alot of assembling to do so get pumped up for that! No cooking experience required, however, for myself that would make the job more interesting.  It's easy, and that is reflected in the pay which is just above minimum wage and is the only reason at the moment I'm unhappy.. will take 1200 hours to be bumped up a dollar which is still like 4 dollars less than I'm used to working at a restaurant :(. Manual dexterity, time management and good customer service skills are needed, especially as you move up in the department

Simply put, avoid this place! It’s a Culty atmosphere to begin with, especially at the head office level. Fast-paced workload which is fine but with useless meetings held every morning, it’s a wonder how you manage to get through your workload. Management is pushy, and unkind. If you don’t mind being yelled at, it’s fine. Groups of employees are cliquey so, you either fit in or are outcast! When you start, you better write things down because you only get one shot at it! Regarding the culture, it’s lame, and dull. Regarding the cult aspect. You better drink the coolaide or you will be threatened. Shopping at Sobeys, Safeway or Costco is frowned upon. Overall I have nothing good to say about COOP but to say... stay away and be happy!

when I worked at Co-op it is different training and people, I have learned a lot in this company too. it is a little bit heavy lifting and I also encounter different kind of people with different attitudes but I understand them all. Our management is great they are good mentors and they treated me as friend same also with my co-workers although we have tough times at work especially when it is busy but they don't  forget to lend a hand when needed. the hardest part of my job is carrying heavy items that cause me to deliver my baby too early as of 27 weeks. I enjoyed it working in this company because my inspiration is my family.

i had to work night shifts and most of the tym ill be working alone in the bakery no one was helping me out, but i had to make sure everything gets done on time. my co-workers some of them were gud towards me but some would make me do most of the work. The hardest part of the job was working alone not that i mind but sometimes it was a lot of work to do and time wont be on my side. getting to know the background of my co-workers was  more fun having to know what they wanna do in life.

I feel that they need to emphasise on the training aspect of the jobs a little more thoroughly. I feel theirs not enough training given, that the statement "theirs not enough time to train" is an excuse heard too many times.
I feel the wage expectations are not met at all due to contract negotiations. (Hope that settles sooner than later)
I feel the leadership team members like to micromanage rather than support their team.

The Co-Op was a fantastic place to work, I suggest this job to anyone looking for a job and is considering to work here, definitely do try out for this place. The management is great! You can tell they care about their employee's as well, they will always make sure you're comfortable, and will let you know how you're doing, and will help if you need an improving, they are a very organized company, and I would love to go back. It's a very positive atmosphere to be in.

Fun and healthy environment to work in apart from some people you would meet. Many of the people that i met while i was working i am still friends with, and did not leave on bad terms with anyone. Over all its a very nice place to work and also not a bad position for anyone looking for job with Co-op

Co-op offers good benefits and has a good sense of community. Co-op is very involved in the community, supporting businesses and charities with donations. My manager was always willing to listen and make things as good as possible for the team members.
