Working at coal valley is a very healthy environment.from the start of you’re shift to the end , you can be assured you’re in safe hands when there even though it is out of area.you can meet some amazing people here that are educated and talented. The foremen are stern but fair (they have to be to maintain a balance production and safety) .if you’re new the mining industry it is taken into consideration and they will understand and help you get through you’re day .it is a fun place to work in with that being said .they have a expectation of you though.arrive sober and alert and just do what you’re asked.and have a good attitude and respect towards others on and off the job . And when you’re ready to advance -the world is you’re oasis if you’re willing to put in the effort . You’re efforts will be appreciated.when it comes to van pay and benefits the payroll and finance officers are always will in to explain and help you out .did I mention the benefits they can’t be beat .and the hrs of operations that you’ll work allow you for a very healthy lifestyle. This is the type of job you want to have for yourself.now with this being said keep in mind there is accountability.it is backed by positive reinforcement for everyone.it is a great company to work for .I give it two thumbs up.

started with work assignment for the day,pull out tool box move to work area.do a walk around to idetify hazards associated to job,figure out how to elliminate the hazards,fill out a flha form lock out equipment,and find the work procedur or permittefor the job commence work.advise supervisor of the commencement of the job and discuss the procedure,start work.inform my coworkers of my intentions and what they can do to matain a safe work enviroment.the difficult is to keep and retain the same work conditions.i enjoy performing my job and leaving for home with everybody safe.

A typical day at work was hauling oil sands I started my mining career with NACG. The management were very helpful in training and trusting my abilities as a haul truck operator and working my way up as a grader operator. My team of co-workers were very helpful in training and assisting each other. The hardest part of the job would have to be too much radio chatter, people were always cutting each other off. The most enjoyable part of the job would have to be is that I have developed many friendship working with NACG on the Shell site.

my typical day at work was do a walkaround of the equipment I was to run that particular day. check oil levels and look for leaks. I have learned a great deal from the training and help from the most experienced co-workers I had the pleasure of working with the past 33 years. the hardest part of the job was you were always subjected to the weather elements,cold winter nights and hot summer days was especially hard on equipment. the most enjoyable part of the job was people I worked for and my peers were polite and helpful when I needed it.

The volume at the mine site is extremely large. Non stop every day. In my position at other sites we have numerous employees to complete tasks. I receive all invoices, process and pay them. I deal with all vendor accounts and issues along with the buyers/materials department. The hardest part of the job is having enough time to complete day to day duties. I've learned a great deal of time management in that aspect.

Coal valley is a great place to work,lots of room for advancement.They provide extra ciricular activities for the sports enthusists as well as out door activites.They also encourage employees to take advantage of free courses,CPR,First aid ect.

Great work environment. The only drawback is constant rumors of closing door. Ignore them and you will be happy there for years. I lasted 36 years and enjoyed it immensely

Good people Safety is important long running poor communication poor location and working in the elements is daily great scenery lots of wildlife oppourtunities to learn new job and transfer between departments is easy and getting into management happens alot

Management lies to you, everyone there is stressed out or angry most of the time.  Very toxic work environment.  Crews are all working against each other which makes team work non-existent! 

It was poorly managed when I was there and there was a lot of favoritism there.Its a long haul to the plant which made for long days.Waste haul went a lot faster.
