This isn't for the faint of heart, it's hard, College Pro is extremely challenging and 90% of you reading this right now probably aren't willing to make the sacrifices needed to run a business. And that's okay. There are two types of people in this world, employees and employers and at College Pro you get the chance at the later, to run your own business in a safe environment where you're surrounded by some serious beauties all aimed at the same thing, reaching their personal greatness.  

College Pro is for those who are unsatisfied with their current trajectory and want to step into the driver seat of their own life. Yes, you will work your butt off, but the beauty is that unlike most everyone else who works hard at their job, here, you're the boss and you get to choose exactly how hard you work and you get rewarded for exactly how much effort you put forward, what a beautiful thing. 

If you're lazy, addicted to SnapChat, get knocked down when things don't go your way, etc, then please, stay away. This company is for those looking to slay a dragon and become the hero in their life. College Pro is a pressure cooker for attaining massive growth in the shortest amount of time possible. 

Anyone who has written a bad review about this company simply wasn't cut out for it, a "bad hire", because this is a "choose your own adventure" book and you're in control of the entire thing. The full-time staff work tirelessly to help the franchisees achieve success, we have a dialed training program that's been fine tuned over decades of perfecting the recipe. 
The success or failure of an individual rests on that person alone. This isn't a job, this is lifestyle, a bootcamp and a family, and if you're looking to realize your greatest potential, then look no further.

Despite being marketed as minimum wage the job was actually paid based on estimated duration of jobs with "bonuses" awarded if the job was finished quicker then estimated. The door-to-door marketing aspect was paid at 10$/hour only coming up to minimum wage if you had gotten a lead for each hour worked, which doesn't sound terrible but keep in mind this is during off season as well. Summary of pay was seen 3 times, despite 4 months of work.

Estimates would be undercut in order to secure sales (at the expense of workers), but would be scheduled as a building of the same size as the undercut price leading to scheduling conflicts. Broken equipment was replaced on 1 maybe 2 instances, leading to instances where only 1 crewmember could meaningfully work, which impeded our ability to complete work efficiently and on time. Was told to continue to use broken equipment, despite safety concerns. Travel would not be considered in estimates or scheduling, leading to days in which each jobs were in opposite ends of town without travel time accounted for in estimate. Worrying working at heights practices, and worrying teachings. Having come in with Working At Heights certification from outside of the company, co-workers who received company's working at heights training were not even aware of 6 foot height minimum for working at heights and 10 feet height for harnesses. Specific customer requests were often not included in scheduling leading where unfortunate but avoidable disappointments for customers.

As season became less active, we were scheduled for days with >3 hours of work. Often not knowing the schedule before hand and early in the season scheduled weeks of nearly 60 hours without written agreement past 48 hours.

For three of my five years of University I ran a College Pro franchise in the summer. While being a more than full-time position in the summer it was also a heavy part-time job February to April. A heavy part-time job where I could to pick my own hours and decide how productive and efficient I wanted to be while I was working.

This taught me self-discipline as well as how to motivate myself out of ruts and difficult times that come and go as an entrepreneur. Impressive lessons as a 19-21 year old. 

Running my own business gave me an outlet to pour my energy and passion into. I took the energy and passion I was pouring into fast food/retail jobs as well partying on the weekends and re-directed it toward running my own business. A business that I could to build and mold on my own with the help and direction of College Pro. And while it may 'just be a painting business', the simplicity and scalability of that service based business is what I attribute my success and now business knowledge to.

After running a franchise for three years and graduating from business school I was offered the position to be the General Manager of Saskatchewan. Doing the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and coaching of 15+ franchise owners across the province. 

A salary position, with a fair bonus structure, I was in my haven. Now continuing in this position the learning is twice as much as it was while running my own franchise. As Peter Parker's uncle Ben once said, "With great power comes great responsibility" and I am forever grateful for the responsibility College Pro has trusted me with and the lessons and learning it continues to bring.

I was employed for the summer period of May to august 2019. In my interview and contract I was promised a minimum of 35 hours a week with an average of 40 hours a week. My franchisee had his girlfriend and his best friend employed, and I received hardly any hours. In a 3 week pay period I only had 13 hours total, then when I attempted to rectify this situation with my Franchise and the GM as I am relying on the income to pay for my university tuition I was let go because there was "not enough work for me", although every other painter was receiving full time hours. My Franchisee was very immature treating the job like a highschool popularity contest and having parties, and not inviting all of his employees, creating an exclusive environment which is not accepting. 
This company gave me the worst experience. I have never received such lack of communication. My Franchisee had no communication or leadership skills. If I was working one of the few hours I did, I received a text the day or or 10 pm the night before. so your waiting around unable to make any plans or try to get a second job because you dont know if your working until the day of. 
Also, the 3 hour Ontario minimum by law is not paid for marketing, I was expecting to have when marketing was not compensated. Driving 30 minutes to market and 30 minutes back home I spent more money in gas then my minimum wage 1 hour marketing, which is not worth it, and is a loss of money. 
also no training is paid. 
I was very disappointed in how this company is run and the immaturity of the franchisee's when they're supposed to be our entrepreneurs of tomorrow, they do not conduct themselves in that matter. 
If your looking for consistent work, I would not rely on College Pro Painting

The day would start at 9am, it would be an hour drive down to the houses we worked on and on arrival the manager would go over what needed to be done to the house. One other worker and me would then scrape off the old paint, sand down what was left, prime any parts that now had wood showing, then paint over in the color of paint the owned of the house chose. It would take up to 6 hours (some days with no break) and the owners would often tip. Also sanded and stained a wooden deck for one of the houses. I learned how to manage my time when working outdoors to benefit me and the company. I also learned how to use new tools that I hadn't seen before. The manager was friendly and smart when it came to teaching and conversing with customers. In one day he taught me how to use all the equipment and how to deal with the customers in a polite manner if he was not present. There was only one co worker who was a third year University student, not very competent with using his time or the equipment and he made quite a lot of mistakes that cost me and my manager time and money to fix. The hardest part of the job was the physical labor it required and working in the sun all day. Also dealing with my co worker trying to teach him in a polite way things he should and shouldn't do. It would get exhausting by the end but I enjoyed the results and was proud of my hard work. This and the fact that I was allowed to paint for my first job made it the most enjoyable part of this job, as I am an artist and take pride in my work when it's done well.

Working for College Pro as a franchisee had me work in a fast paced environment that required well designed schedule and high work ethic. Having your employees counting on you, built pressure so some weeks were quite stressful. The cool part about College Pro Franchisee role is that as time goes by and you learn how to properly time manage and problem solve, and you get used to maintain good work ethic with 70 hour weeks at work, no problem is too big to solve.

The culture at College Pro is what keeps it above other competitors and other companies in general.  We worked as a team to solve any problems that arose, and spent much time on conferences together.

Manager was knowledgeable and always there to assist if you had any questions or were uncertain how to problem solve a particular issue.

The hardest part of the job was certainly trying to balance personal life and work, and by the end of the year, you become so good at time management and planning that looking at other people complaining not having time when they have a full time job is quite funny when you learn to enjoy life while you invest about 70 hours a week into your business.

All the hard work is worth it at the end, as you truly come out with priceless management experience that allows you to bring many valuable skills to any other job you will be doing following College Pro and your life in general.

A typical work day started around 7am as I get ready for my first job at 8am. I pick up my team from a preset location and we drive to the first job. I go to greet the customer and inform them on the job we will be performing and give them a rough estimate of how long it will take and who my crew consists of. While I do this, my team unloads my car and set up all the equipment. One job typically takes around 1-2 hours and there around usually around 3-5 jobs a day. By the end of the day, I drop my team off at the same location I picked them up and I head home to input data onto the College Pro system used to keep track of sales and customers. After this, I call customers in order to set up more jobs for upcoming weeks and market the company until 9pm. I learned a lot about myself and the workload that I could personally handle, I learned a vast amount of skills ranging from attention to detail to leadership. My co-workers were always students that I had picked myself so I thoroughly enjoyed working with my team on most days. The hardest parts of the job would be the long days and the best parts of the job were the people.

College Pro was something I looked into skeptically as a young university student. I was looking for something to work at aside from school that would build my skills in a different more hands-on way. When I started the interview process for this role I realized very quickly that this program offered a lot of skill development and that I was onto something that would change the trajectory of my life. After 4 years of working with them I am still here and happy with all of the personal work I have done on myself to make me a better entrepreneur and a better person. I wouldn't have grown half as much by now without the intensive coaching I have got through the program. I am happy to say that this has been a good chapter in my life and this program has given me the mindset I needed to be a successful entrepreneur in the real world with my own ideas. For the right fit-- this job is an unparalleled stepping stone for the future, with low-risk for an excited future entrepreneur looking for the hands-on knowledge on how to run a business and master yourself personally.

College Pro is independently run, so I can only speak to my local experience, but I had a blast. We worked full time, usually 8-5, Monday to Friday. We would go out to a new job first thing and do a walkthrough of the job site. The owner of the franchise would set up the crew with our gear and paint, give us a rundown of what the client wanted, any special instructions, then we were often left to get the job done. The crews would be anywhere from 2-6 painters, with people being shuffled around to maximize our efficiency, especially as jobs came to a close and new ones were beginning. Some locations were easier than others, and some jobs were definitely bigger, but it was never overwhelming. The only thing that got to me was my fear of heights (which this job helped me overcome). If you aren't a fan of tall ladders and working on angled roofs, this might not be the job for you. 

Ultimately, the best way to find out if College Pro is a good choice for you is to speak with the local franchisee. They are always a local person, and they are usually a young person as well. 

My franchise also paid above minimum, which was a nice bonus

A typical day at work includes talking with the customer while walking around the house to give a clear expectation of what was to be done and when they should expect it completed.

To complete a project we would do three laps around the home. First prep the home for painting, second paint all of the siding, and finally paint all of the fascia and trim. By this process I learned how to organize a project by setting goals and how to accomplish those goals one at a time by delegating tasks and working quickly.

I was fortunate to have a great team that was very easy to get along with. By the end of the summer there was not anyone on my team that I did not remain in contact with. 

Overall I loved the work. I Enjoy painting, being outside and working with a productive crew. But the company its self was far from organised.This effected me on almost every project.
