Community Integration Services Society is the optimal work structure for people who strive for work/life balance. CISS's head office is welcoming and is in a Heritage House in Port Coquitlam with lots of character and history. A typical day at work consists of meeting with employees and management, supporting in community throughout the entire day by participating with clients in their employment, educational and recreational activities, and completing required documentation after each service is provided. Management is available throughout that day to support employees if needed while in community, and attend all annual ISP Meetings with Life Skills Workers, clients and families. I thoroughly enjoy the communication, positivity and  teamwork I see at CISS.

Facilitate and oversee personalized programs based on providing people with developmental disabilities. Manage staff to ensure proper and excellent practice is in place. A positive and strong workplace culture that holds you accountable. It is a great place to make a meaningful impact in the community. It is a great organization to learn about the incredible services offered by Port Coquitlam and dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals in the community. It’s heartwarming to see an organization that prioritizes personal preferences to meet unique needs and encourages active participation in community life. The supportive environment fosters meaningful connections, making it an excellent place for employees and individuals to thrive.

One star was too generous. Managers are over worked, unhappy and can't manage teams properly due to micromanagement from the higher up's.   If you like walking on eggshells, defending every motive for clients best interest, and sharing innovating fun ideas that just get rejected, then this place is right for you! The staff here are very friendly and easy to get along with, but you won't get to know them because we're not allowed to talk to each other. Constant change is CISS's specialty! With the constant flow of managers and staff in and out, it's quite surprising that the board of directives haven't seriously looked into the reason why people just keep on quitting.

Friendly staff and a good team environment. Interview process was fairly straightforward, involving a virtual screening and an in-person interview with HR, the Director of Community Inclusion, and the Executive Director. Onboarding procedure involves a fair amount of reading of policies and procedures. The learning curve is steep but achievable. A great deal of support has been provided by all senior management and admin staff - all have been very welcoming and accommodating. Overall a very positive environment and a team I look forward to working with every morning.

Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience with this company. Through the early stages things appeared positive, however things took a negative turn quickly. Bullying and an overall disregard for staff safety/ well being is something that took a major toll on me while working there. It is common place here for staff to be spoken to disrespectfully, blamed for things they can’t control, and pushed into toxic situations. A lot of the frontline staff are great people but the culture within this company needs a major adjustment. 

A respectful workplace,  casual wear office attire, diverse work culture with many training opportunities for personal growth and professional growth.  The hardest part of the job is to keep motivate when the community are  not inclusive. The most enjoyable part of the job is able to contribute your skills and empowering the individual, transforming their lives better and be acceptable in the community as a regular citizen. 

Some really great clients. Some really amazing staff but not all. Toxic environment. Micromanagement from upper management trickles down and ultimately stifles and impairs staff's ability to provide best support for clients. Bullying is rampant from upper management and effects daily operations and morale for many staff is horrible. Would never recommend this organization to anyone I cared about.

sitting at my desk and not moving the entire day as the managers were not allowed to interact with the staff teams or the persons served

I started at CISS in a temporary position and was promoted to a permanent position 6 months in and assigned a larger team to over see. I felt like I was always set up for success with the support I received from management and the admin staff. Extra support is always available with many opportunities for additional training. The work environment is positive and very person centered. The staff are great to work with. Being a new mom the work life balance here is amazing. I have really enjoyed my time at CISS so far.

The staff at Community Integration Services Society (CISS) are very kind and provide a lot of support to their workers. The managers provide fair feedback which helped me improve my skills. I also really appreciate the work/life balance culture of this organization. I have never felt overwhelmed while working for CISS. I also really appreciate the independence I have in my role as a L.I.F.E. Counsellor. Overall, it has been a great experience working for CISS!
