The people supported are amazing and have a lot to offer both you as an employee, and the community as a whole. Working with this population will provide you with a lot of experience and job satisfaction. 

If you are going to do your job well, the pay does not reflect the work. Working evenings, weekends and holidays provides you with little work/life balance.  Because of this, it is hard to keep staff. As a domino effect, management spends most of their time filling shifts. This provides staff and teams with zero leadership and no direction, which in turn means the agency is stagnant and not progressive. 

There is little, to no recognition given to staff. Unfortunately, when management are not filing shifts, the main focus is making things look good on paper for the ministry. As long as it “looks” like people supported are busy, learning new skills, and have goals; the job is complete. The job then gets boring and supports for people lack. 

It really is unfortunate that there is not a better system in place. The agency requires well-rounded, educated staff with proper leadership in order to provide people with exceptional supports and the best quality of life. Great staff rarely stay, and the good staff that still exist are seeking other employment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I have been working as a maintenance with Community Living Tillsonburg since 2002. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand the organization’s commitment to supporting individuals in the community. The team is dedicated, and there is a strong focus on creating safe, welcoming environments for the people we serve. It has been a rewarding place to work, and I’m proud to be part of an organization that makes a positive difference every day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part is managing urgent maintenance requests and shifting priorities, especially when multiple issues need attention at the same time.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment at Community Living Tillsonburg is supportive and team-oriented. Staff work closely together to ensure the well-being and safety of the individuals we serve. There is a strong sense of purpose in the work, and employees are generally committed to making a positive impact in the community

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing major. 
Everyday minor stressors and timelines.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Professional. Understanding. Inclusive.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive at my assignment and support people at their jobs in the social enterprise program.

Our CEO and director has an open door policy.  They are very approachable and make time to hear you out.  Staff teams work well together for the most part including supervisors.  Benefits are great and vacation allowance is fantastic.  CLT is very diverse with their staffing and support all kinds of people.  The best part of the day is getting out and supporting people to achieve their goals.  I have learned so much working here.  There are many different hats you wear and lots of committees that people can join in on.  You are asked to participate in surveys so your option is taken into consideration.   

A typical day is show up 5 minutes late with a coffee in your hand - no one cares just as long as you show up. Nothing new to learn - just play with my tablet or phone all day while talking to special needs residents who yell and scream in my ear. Management cares about billing the Ministry more than they do about our health and safety. The culture is one of gossip and backstabbing and some workers are related to management. The hardest part of the job is housework and the most enjoyable is going to the mall with the residents wasting time

I have worked in the field for over 8 years never have I experienced clients like in tilsonburg high mental health and no training or support from management, overworked and not appreciated. A lot of people who have been in the agency for long take on rolls and become overbearing and bossy towards newer staff. Also if you work at a location with a lot of the same age group and gender alot of gossip and pettiness. Some staff seem power hungry also and take the job way to serious 

Great place to work. A lot of room to grow and experience new opportunities . Offer lots of personal development opportunities. The senior staff are willing to help new staff with any problems they may be having and help them to better understand the policies and procedures.

Working here has been an incredibly satisfying expereince. The highlight of the role is the opportunity to support others while beiing part of a highly professional and dedicated team. 
It's a great place for anyone looking to make a meaningful diffrence in the community. 

Salary in great, although mgmt. treats support staff poorly. Little or no opportunity for advanced training through this agency. Any new regulatory responsibilities are downloaded to frontline staff'.

The manager support people with disabilities but abuse their staff who have disabilities. The managers and supervisors are racist towards aboriginal people. Once they are done abusing you they fire you because of your disabilities
