Compass Early Learning and Care

I can highly recommend this daycare to anyone looking for a good quality programme to put their children in. The daycare strives to promote the high-quality amazing environment to both staff and children that is fun and educational. 

They follow all standards and beyond striving to improve more and more. I have learned a great deal about how children learn the curriculum is child based fun inviting and educational. More child cares should follow this example. 

The management is supportive and it is easy to talk to staff and management because they care. They are both supportive of families and students an teachers that work there. 

The most best and excellent environment I have ever worked in a long time and to put your child in as well. 

The most enjoyable part was getting to know the children and having the children help plan what they want to do. I have learned a great deal about Regio Emilia and how to set up invitations that are based on children's interests.  I wish the company all the success!

This isn't a good company to work for.

the children are amazing, but 75% of the educators + management are cliquey and therefore makes the whole system corrupt. 

there's a lot of uncalled for office gossip that has malicious intent to get others into trouble with the company. 

if you aren't family or child-hood friends with someone who works for this company, you're basically being thrown in with the sharks.

you will be chewed up and spit out after putting in years of time, loyalty and dedication to this company and the children apart of their programs. 

children will be allowed to create weapons and use them on each other/the educators, and the good hearted educators that try to stop such behaviour gets penalized. you will be probably be wrongfully dismissed if you ever come across any issues with the long time employees of compass. do not trust anyone who works here. 

I really enjoy working for Compass. They really strive for quality childcare and put a focus on equity and diversity, giving all employees opportunities to learn and grow with multiple professional development opportunities. This organization is the best organization to work for when it comes to child care. They truly care about the children and families in their care and actually pay their employees a decent wage. I have no idea how ECEs work for private childcare organizations. Children and families should never be capitalized and Compass ELC sees this. The CEO is a member of the coalition for better child care and constantly advocates for all their employees to be paid a decent wage, one that they deserve! I feel grateful to work here and be part of this organization.

The "distributed leadership" model that Compass employs leads to the expected outcome when applied in real life - confusion, frustration, problems and questions go unanswered or guessed, inconsistency and arguing, general attitude of "not my problem" or "sorry, I don't know". No staff that I spoke to supported the distributed leadership model.

Staff are abandoning their full time positions to become supply staff to avoid the frustration and stress of the increased expectations of full time staff in regards to documentation. Every staff I met expressed different levels of confusion, frustration, "I just don't care anymore", "I don't even know if I'm doing it right" in regard to documentation.

There is a very strong clique environment that effects everyday work, addressing conflicts, and promotion to different positions.

Typical day is visiting providers either for monthly or pedagogical visits, some paperwork, meetings and various book study’s. I have learned a lot already in my time here. The workplace culture and organization is one of asking questions and living in curiosity. Everyone has been very supportive and helpful. I have learned more about myself and reflected more in a variety of questions more in the past several months than I have in past thirty years in the childcare field!

Great work place. Cooperative work and amazing leaders.

No stress at all. You can talk to the head office and they can help and support all your needs

Work as a team to support our program and support all children’s learning and activities

You can work a lot of hours if you want because people are always calling in sick

Admin leads are not good at their jobs and no support from head office

Fake - pretend to care but actually don’t want to deal with naything

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long hours with very little breaks because we were always short staffed

I have grown as an educator during my time at Compass. Many of the other staff have become more than just coworkers, we're more like sisters. If I wasn't moving, I'd stay and work here!
