Typical drafter duties such as generating sheets of details and various parts in CAD, using Revit for elevations and takeoffs, but also generating purchase orders and communicating to outside vendors. There is also internal work orders through three separate companies that are operated through this company, which is very confusing to run through.

There is no drafting 'standard' that anyone keeps to in the drafting department since the shop drawing context is always changing, but keeps complaining to you that you aren't following the standard, even when they cannot provide a set of shop drawings as an example. 

The people on the shop floor were nice, but the people in the office keep expecting things that they never tell you about. 

Great place to work at because of the employees, everyone is very nice and helpful. You make friends instantly. But the supervisors are not to be trusted. They lie to get what they want. They hire a large handful of people stating they will not lay anyone else off, then a month later 15+ people who have been there from a month to years are being laid off because work is slow for 2 weeks. They do not know how to handle large amounts of employees and can not be trusted. Absolutely no job security. 
The work is easy, great pay, free lunches every Friday.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They never fired anyone, even when they probably deserved it. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No training at all, no continued learning within the company, and they wouldn’t even approve time off to go to an industry convention

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I felt it wasn’t very inclusive although no one was directly mean

I start my day by filling out the necessary safety paper works that are needed throughout the day. I then join with my work crew and make sure all the tools are present as needed. Cleaning up of my work area is a very vital role for me as an apprentice. 
The hardest part of my job is keeping out of everyone else area asking questions and gaining knowledge.

I worked for this company briefly in Calgary working at the airport. I had a lot of responsibility given to me working on a team of professionals we had good leadership and the company was well-managed the project moved forward in a positive direction under the guidance of the leadership which in my opinion was Top Notch along with the product Shuco window systems.

Currently working with CGI in Toronto.  Great superintendents, and overall good crew or workers as well.  Material handling seems to be an issue as well as quality of product delivered to site.  Management is very out of touch with workers on site, and workers are left to wonder what is next with little feeling of job security

I worked for this company as a journeyman Glazier working at YYC worked with a good group of guys the job was technical was spread out over a large area large and heavy equipment was used.

Went through multiple positions in a short period of time. Had multiple different titles but not a penny more in pay. Had to leave to find better pay with the skills i had devolved at CGI. People were great and business felt very family like.

When it is busy it if great but very dull when no work available.  Would like to work there again if possible.  I like the fact that I had no experience and that they were willing to train

CGI is a place that is enjoyable to work at, mostly because of the people you work with. The jobs are menial and can be picked up by anyone. The pay is decent, and the safety culture is continuing to move in the right direction.
