Alot to learn in the beginning with very little help from coworkers. Those working their for a long time really could care less if you needed help or struggling.  Instead of lending a hand they load u up as quickly as possible with more parts then can be finished before breaks just so that they can have a longer break while u continue to struggle. Once you finally figure out the best way to run tge presses life gets better. Learn as much as u can and u will get loads of overtime if u want it. The pay was great. Paid weekly. The union reps pretend to care but don't. Make sure to watch punch clock when in and out it doesn't always register punches and no matter how many hours u work or even if u work over 60hrs a week for months on end if your over 1.5% in latest or not scheduled days off then your fired. Even if you were told to go home because of being sick. Had I known what I figured out after the fact I would still be working for Cooper-Standard.  I hated my job in the beginning but absolutely loved in once I got comfortable running different machines in the plant. 

(Stratford Sealing plant) Typical workday changes often with a good mix between office work and work on production floor. Lots to learn and excellent mentors to learn from. Compassionate and flexible management who are willing to get "in the trenches" and work alongside subordinates when/where required - dept feels like a team. Culture overall good. Really enjoying learning technical skills from experienced mentors, finding ways to make tangible improvements on production floor, and contributing positively to the Canadian manufacturing sector. 

A fast paced environment, that is a very hot work environment. Very repetive tasks working on a press or line. This type of job was very rigid with little ability to do things outside of a set routine. My co-workers were very good at giving an extra hand if needed and was very willing to help show me how to do things I might not know in the running of the presses. The hardest part of this job beside the swing shifts was the constant lay offs due to work shortages. This placed a lot of stress on me specially financially. The most enjoyable part of this job was when I worked in the assembly section of the plant where I assembled different components as well as the great pay and benifits.

cooper Standard was and still continues to be a great place to work at .i gained a lot of experience ,met lots of friends and had a lot of fun working there .

i would love to work there again some day ,i was let go after 25 years of service because of changes in management and some shortages of work at the time.

i enjoyed the travelling very much ,i went to places like .England .Brazil .Mexico and of course USA to work in many of our plants that we have in those countries.

of course in management the job is daily meaning 24 hours per day ,especially as a plant manager .
however we know our responsibilities when we take on the job.

Show up do your job go home, Don't let the drama on the floor control you, Management do not care about the works one bit, You are looked down on like a puppet, Expected to maintain "green" hourly production rates, even when its out of the operators control, We currently do not have any new business for the Glencoe factory, 30+ people getting laid off. Unfortunately the factory is unionized, and the union protected all the wrong people, Good workers get shafted, Workers that do not show up or workers that are "abusing" our short term/long term disability get saved and left alone

Pros - Easy work, an untrained monkey could do it

Cons- Management do not care about the worker, only the dollar going into their pockets. 

If you’re 50+ looking for an easy job to retire on this might be it for you. Otherwise you should probably play stupid so they don’t constantly expect you to pick up other people’s slack.  Management is a joke they walk all over our union representatives and get whatever they want, on top of that they’ve been notorious for not acknowledging our union contract. Expect to get shorted hours every other week too. Overall this place a complete dump and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone young and capable. Don’t waste your time on this dead end job/ shady company.

typical day at work would be very repetitive of the day before, go in look at the job list find out where you are and go to your station, do your hourly checks and production rate on the production board, the hardest part of the job would be doing the first off making sure that your part coming off the machine is up to customer standards, the easiest part of the day would be doing the hourly checks, throw it on a guage fill out the paperwork, coworkers are great, you learn as you go and ive been here for 5 years, so ive had a chance to learn everything slowly but surely.

The work hrs, people are great, work is very clean.

The people, lack of training in certain areas.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good work environment, people are good ,  and everyone is helpfull.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come to work, punch in, work for 2 hrs have a break and the work 2 hrs get a lunch and work 2 more hrs and get your last break  and the work the last part of the day and go home.

show up early enough to see what area you might be in, to sign in to the job. doing the job is easy work once you get used to doing it some lines run faster then others. This company needs to assign relief workers when new people are being trained . not just shown once then a few weeks later trying to do the paperwork .the last time I was shown how to do the paperwork I got laid off the next day. need at least a solid week or two of doing paper work before you can do this on your own.

The people here at Cooper Standard Glencoe are like family and are great to work with. Everyone is always in a good mood and willing to help you if you need it.  People here love the work they do. Machines are fairly simple to run. Very clean and safe factory. Supervisors are somewhat decent to deal with. Depends who you are though, they have their favourites! Future is not promised, some machines are leaving and nothing new coming in. Not good.
