Costa Coffee

No breaks for a 6 hour shift. Not even a toilet break. Team members were nice, but manager was terrible: racist, scheming and threatening team members shed “get rid of them”, was under investigation for an incident prior to my arrival (wasn’t given the full details but the gist was about the way she treats others). 
Worst parts?
- Wouldn’t give me time off to take my mum in for eye surgery at the hospital. 
- Placed me on shifts 8 days in a row without breaks because manager wants to go on holiday.
- Mentioned that I had a prebooked holiday with my application. Manager disregarded it (or didn’t even look at my application properly) saying it’s impossible without her say so.
- Make a big spiel about “training” but don’t teach you anything just expect you to know it.
- Put a small team under pressure rather than hiring enough staff (to save money).
- Extremely rude and racist manager. 
- Manager chose employees based on ethnicity’s she likes and dislikes. So negative towards my learning (when she didn’t even bother to train me!) it was unbearable and i quit two weeks in. 
- Dirty dishwasher
- Don’t bother to employ a cleaner (not even 1-2 times a month) - got an asthma attack from the bathroom cleaning products. Even a pub hires someone to do the floors/bathroom.

Go to one of the stores I was in charge of and open it up, get it ready for day trade, monitor the store employees, to see if all guidelines are being met, (customer service etc.) train staff on an on going improvement program. I learned a lot being in the management role. I was trained by the owners of the franchise, they taught me everything I need to know to be able to manage my stores accurately. All my co-workers were great to work with, I had a excellent team. The hardest part of my job was the long hours I would put in when we would open a new store, due to hiring new staff, training, setting up shop etc. However I enjoyed every bit of it, because of the satisfaction at the end.

I've created such strong bonds with both my co-workers and regular customers that I will definitely keep with me for life. Started the job as a weekender, didn't really care much for it, but then grew to love it. The past 3 years have been amazing, but it is time for a change. Upper people don't care about what is going on in the stores or with the teams, as long as there is money being made. My co-workers were amazing, but we are so understaffed that the job is getting too overwhelming for me, and there is not enough time for me to have a decent amount of time off (mostly due to understaffing issue). Overall, best 3 years. Would recommend working there, just maybe in a more staffed store.

I began working at Costa Coffee in Beaconsfield during my GCSEs and continued to do so until the end of my gap year. I needed to do so to assist my family with various financial difficulties at the time. The Beaconsfield branch is one of the busiest in the country, and I was thrown into the deep end when I had to learn how to make excellent quality coffee non stop for customers all day. However, due to my ability to deliver excellent quality customer service, and make excellent coffee, I was shortly invited to partake in several courses, followed by examinations, in food health, customer service and coffee making, all of which I passed with distinction.

I enjoyed working with my colleagues who became close friends of mine and I learned lots of valuable business acumen such as how to provide good customer service. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with customers and making their visit to Costa a pleasant experience. The hardest part of the job was the pressure that came with ensuring that everything was up to the high standards required by management for an inspection. Throughout my Costa experience I was motivated by the freedom that came with the independence of having my first job.

Terrible management that did not care about the job and expected other staff to carry out tasks they were not prepared to do themselves. They looked down on staff and had the attitude of ‘speak when spoken to’. 
The pay is ridiculous, I was on minimum wage and expected to do the same amount of work as employees in better paid positions. 
No free lunches even on 8+ hour shifts. 
Same amount of breaks for People on a 4 hour shift as people on a 10 hour shift. 
Massive wastage as management over order or don't rotate stock correctly.

Sure the worst company I worked for. No respect at all for employees , very low salary, no culture about Italian  coffee but the company think makes Italian  coffee  when is less than mediocre and poor , training in a few days and then run like a crazy. Insult the Italian culture of coffee... All is fake or bad copy of Italy... Poor Costa brothers still crying  had sell the brand to Witbread mess. Don't trust the management... are lier. empty promises and absolutely no way of carrier at all. I worked for around a year and  half  and  no one co-workers was happy.

I have been working in different sectors and fields, I was receptionist and later executive personal assistant. they gave me all opportunities to learn and do my goals. I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge and remain always keen to learn new skills whilst always promoting my friendly and positive work attitude. I am not afraid of hard work and new challenges and therefore believe that I would a great fit for any situation, I am looking for a long-term career withim the company.

Typical day was when one of the coffee machine had some technical issue. - but we manage to entertain guest on available machines.
i have learnt how to handle the uncertainty.
i was a part of management team and we were successful in maintaining healthy environment at work.
all co-workers and team members were okay
Hardest part of the job was handling Odd guests. but we always took as a chance to prove our selves.
the most enjoyable part was peak hours.

Dealing with customers, they are very nice

Cleaning and when delivery arrives sometimes

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very nice environment but the expectations from the staff are very high. Not many people on the shift when busy and sometimes can be very quiet.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Making coffees and serving food, worked on the till, cleaning and closing the shop.
