What is the best part of working at the company?
Very difficult to identify positives from my experience. The role provided exposure to a fast-paced environment, but the lack of structure, training, and support overshadowed any potential benefits.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was the lack of structure and clarity, especially in SCM. There were no proper training programs, no performance evaluation processes, or clear expectations. Frequent last-minute changes, centralized decision-making, and limited communication created a highly stressful and uncertain work environment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
No clear HR policies — no structured onboarding, feedback, or transparent procedures.
No performance evaluation process — no review of expectations, progress, or development.
No training or support — employees are expected to self-navigate with minimal guidance.
No clear vision or direction — long-term goals and priorities were not communicated.
One-man decision-making culture — decisions appeared centralized with limited transparency or collaboration.
Stressful environment, especially in SCM — unclear expectations and shifting priorities created avoidable pressure.
Lack of good-faith practices — based on my experience, communication and decisions did not reflect the good-faith standards expected in a professional workplace.
Concerns around professionalism and ethics — several actions and interactions did not align with typical ethical workplace norms.

If you are moving here from out of town, Coulson Group of Companies - Ice Blast division is a pretty risky place to get involved with. High turnover, low job satisfaction, unprofessional management in Ice Blast division in particular.

Coulson Group of Companies is reasonably well run as an overall company, but their Ice blast division is a bit of a mess.

I've managed to stick around only by keeping my head down when stuff hits the fan. Others have not been so lucky.

If you have a family or work-life balance is important to you, then this is not your company. If you are single and can afford a lot of uncertainty in your future, then maybe it could work.

They try to run the Ice Blast Division like a startup, but it is lacking a lot of benefits of startups such as stock options and profit sharing but with all the downsides of tons of overtime expected and the stress of crazy deadlines.

They do have a decent benefits package though, as the Ice Blast Divison is still part of Coulson Group of Companies.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very progressive, forward thinking, very technologically advanced and quality of work is everything.  Upper Management treats employees with respect and they come around and talk to people.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
My department had a manager that “knew his stuff” but not a people person and sometimes very disrespectful the way talked to people in his department.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is fantastic.  Lots of events and lunches for employees and like mentioned earlier upper management is engaged with all of their employees.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Went in about 30 minutes early, had coffee and log on a few minutes before start time.  You normally continued on the previous day’s work unless something else was assigned to you.

My work day starts at 7am , there is always much to do from changing band saws and round saws, and then benching and grinding them sharpe, to be used again. When the production workers are on their breaks , we as sawfilers get busy changing saws and doing maintenance on the machines. For us we take pride in seeing a smooth finish on the fresh cut lumber ,with one of the blades or bands we sharpened.
We have a lot of variety in our work day ,from fixing , grinding, benching and packing the saws and guides to the machine centers.
Each machine center has schedueled saw changes from 2 to 4 times per 8 hour shift, and then we have some unexpected saw changes due to accidental damage or excessive wear.
I really enjoy my work when i can have 3 or 4 grinders going all at once.
At 4 pm my work is done, and so is another day in the filing room.

Poor uneducated senior management "The Family". Unsafe and pretend to follow AS9100D, FAA, TC protocols but quick to deviate if they become inconvenient and willing to cut corners, Lots of smoke and mirrors with image being everything along with micro and macro managing at the same time. High turnover of quality and knowledgable employees, everyone that I worked closely with has moved on. Good place to work for a giggle if you want to see executive incompetance at it's finest and have sometime to kill until you find a class operation to work for..


Busy schedule, learning every day. Management is supportive with active managers in the workplace (they don't hide in offices). Everyone is here to accomplish company goals. 

Coulson Group is growing fast. It can be a challenging environment to keep up with changes.

This was one of those jobs you have to work on to become comfortable. Between the coastal weather Including two storms with hurricane strength winds, and slinging chokers while keeping separation with the logging helicopter. I liked the challenge. Occasionally it included vip flights into CYVR and Van harbor.

There's a lot of advancement but the one department has a toxic manager.No consideration of the staff, bullying and harrasing of the staff. HR were blind, they think the manager are making the company a profit but didn't realize how the staff work their butt.. The manager take the credit but never appreciate the staff..Worst Micro Manager ever!

Sometimes days are tough and challenging but with great learning and helping in the professional growth. Coulson is a place where your ideas and suggestions are valued and listened to. Work culture is professional, friendly and work focused..The best thing of Coulson that I admire the most that they value your skills and experience no matter from where you are.. that’s Matter believe me.

Avoid.
If you stand for proper engineering workflow inline with FAA and Transport Canada regulations, then you will probably be kicked out.
Parts are simply being installed on the airframe without being substantiated first.  Management culture for "Bush Aircraft repairs" but absolutely not Aerospace caliber.
