My typical day
•	Created and executed automated software test plans, cases and scripts to uncover, identify and document software problems and their causes. 
•	Contributed to the QA process improvement and documentation for support in Department Audits. 
•	Take an active role in backlog grooming to ensure all requirements given are testable and well understood.  
•	Lead QA status meetings at the daily scrum. 
•	Ad Hoc Status Reporting on QA status
•	Support the project team in all aspects of the project life cycle 
•	Tested all Web Services between the .net in house application to external systems such as External Bank’s, Appian workflow, Navision accounting services as well as the online claims processing applications
•	Applications tested in .Net, ASP.Net, Appian, HTML%, Crystal Reports with the back end of SQL and MySQL.  Run simple SQL scripts to validate data within the application directly from the database.  
•	Pinpointed previously undiscovered flaw in new software release, resulting in formal commendation letter from the department head
•	Identified the root cause of intermittent interoperability glitch in the software, leading to a better release
•	Conducted formal and informal product design reviews throughout the software development lifecycle to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules and potential issues. Leveraged my communication to communicate effectively with software design team, quickly gaining their respect and becoming a valued, “go-to” team member on challenging test cases

The hardest part of the jobs is that there was not enough hours in a day.
The most enjoyable part of the jobs is seeing the end result of a successful project.

I was hired as a remote Bilingual Claim Intake Agent.  The training was mediocre since the majority of the time was spent figuring out how to set up the computer and the programs.  When that was all figured out, there was no time left for training on the actual job.  We were also told that we would have an allowance to help set up our home office, however, were later told that we would just have to claim our expenses on our income taxes.   Once set up at home, the calls came through my computer over the internet and the static and quality were just awful. So I upgraded my internet to Fiber optic, yet it did nothing to improve the quality. My service provider told me that my office equipment may not be modern enough.   (Basically telling me that my internet can only be as good as my computer can handle). So I had my landline re-installed (again, using the most up to date technology) and there was still no improvement  in the quality of the calls. Therefore I also conclude that Crawford’s equipment/programs are not able to handle fiber optic, high speed technology.   There is very little support for the French language.   All the main documents are in English and you really need to search to find it in French. When you take French calls, everything on your screen is in English, so you have to be really good at translating on the spot while on the phone with the insured. I think they need to hire people who have degrees in Translation, because it’s not easy to read one language while speaking another. The majority of the Team Leaders don’t know anything about insurance and offered conflicting advice.  I was told the hours were flexible, but they aren’t. The company only wants people for evenings and weekends which seems pretty misleading. I find this company very disorganized.

This company is horrible.  If you go in for an interview, it will sound like an absolutely great place to work.  Within a month of being here, you'll start to notice all the problems.

Very slow to provide any job development or advancement opportunities.  They have an educational reimbursement program to aid in getting qualified to advance yourself in your career.  However, the company is so cheap that managers won't approve of you using it because it will affect their quarterly or annual budgets.

Management itself is completely disorganized.  They don't really do anything, yet step in from time to time to make sweeping changes to processes that are not problematic so they can make the appearance that they are doing something.  My manager specifically only comes to work for 2 hours per day, states he needs to leave for client meetings and sales calls.  In the 3 years he has been here, we have yet to sign new clients and have lost 3 clients.  So not sure what meetings he is going to, but he's definitely not effective in his job.  

Your salary will be stagnant for at least 3 years.  Management will constantly dangle the carrot of a raise in front of you to get you to work harder, but will never follow through on actually providing a raise or even discussing it with you.

The only reason I would recommend working here is if you have a more successful spouse to rely on for income and just need this job for a little extra cash to contribute to the household, this place will do.  You'll have no issue with literally just leaving this place at the end of the day.

Also, to give them credit, they do have a great benefits program.

They say they place importance on customer service and on their staff, but they are always understaffed, especially for french agents. Weekends are almost always worked, and days off are never consecutive for some people. Who does that?? Management places most of the blame on the lower-level employees but don't accept, or can't see, that it is their poor management that creates the things they complain about. The starting salary is lower than the industry's average. They say raises are easy to get, but they aren't. You have to be a top employee, and even then, the raise is not good. You have to keep up on emails and whatnot as well, but you have no dedicated time for it. You often have to take calls non-stop, and then management gets upset at you for not checking your e-mails. Tell me when I have time to do that. I don't. Oftentimes when you have to do training, you don't have working logins to do it with. So you do the training but aren't able to retain what you learned because you're basically just watching a powerpoint presentation. Micromanaging is ridiculous here. Every minute has to be explained. Calls are expected to be under x time with holds that are y amount of time long, but the expectations are unrealistic.

Crawford asks way too much of the CSRs for what they get paid.

Both my signifigant other and I have worked at crawford, I was a CSR - dispatch and my other half is a telephone adjuster. I got hired on, and had to take 2 weeks for training (i had to pay a babysitter due to my kids not being in school) Right when my training was over, my first day by myself there was absolutely nobody i could go to if there was a problem. I was told i'd be working 6 hours a night, when in reality id be there for maybe 1.5-3 hours..... 5 days later I was fired because I "made too many mistakes" nobody told me about these "mistakes" i was making or even told me how to correct them. My other half has been working there since his Co-Op they had him as a contract worker, a co-worker passed away and he took over her position (still contract, refused to make him a salary worker) He applied every time there was a opening salary position, but they kept turning him down. Now AVIVA has pulled out all their business at his office and they are laying everyone off. Now Both my SO and I are jobless and are scrambling to find new work so we dont end up on the streets. I am very disappointed in how they have treated him.

I have worked for Crawford and Co for almost 20 years, starting out as a receptionist.  I came with no background in Loss Adjusting or even knew what this industry was all about, let alone had I even made an insurance claim.  I worked in the background as a Claims Handler for over 10 years before I felt I was ready to pursue my career further and go on the road, a decision I didn't take lightly without knowing I had the full support of Crawfords.  Crawfords gave me the tools to further my career, paying for my Diploma through the ANZIIF organisation. I was also able to complete many online training sessions to provide me with further tools in going out on the road.  The biggest asset for the company is the mentoring program.  There are so many people in the organisation that have varied skills and abilities and you can call on anyone in the organisation for advice.  Crawford and Co have always believed in my abilities, helped me challenge myself and given me opportunities to do things that I never imagined I was capable of doing.

A place where I am treated like an adult, I am not micro managed, I am encouraged. The benefits are great, very flexible work schedule, state of the art technology, very pro active management, this company gets things done and at high speed. Everything is at your finger tips, set up to succeed. There is no formal training so if you aren't a self starter and need a lot of guidance and to be lead by the nose then this is not the right place for you. If you like being given responsibility, very slick streamlined no double handling work then this is a great environment. Probably the only place in 20 years that I have felt like a valued individual instead of a number or cog in a wheel. This is a dynamic, innovative company that isn't stuck in the past. Other companies should be watching for this one because while the fat cats sit back and provide 2+ week turn around times companies like this are swooping in and servicing in hours rather than weeks...

In my 40 year working career, I have never worked for such a pathetic company. Poor wage with unrealistic expectations of staff to work extra, do extra AND to also bear any extra expense. Their management needs to take a serious look at how their staff/colleagues treat others from staff to clients. 
They were known to 'fire' people because of the terrible job they did and then hired them back years later proving that you only need a pulse to work for Crawford. 
Management & direction from management did not exist whatsoever and when they did get involved, they were very condescending. 
Oddly enough, when a colleague & I checked into the fact that over use of fragrance in the office was a serious issue, I was terminated and my colleague was terminated several months later. According to the Human Rights Commission, environmental sensitivity is a right and Crawford chose to get rid of the victims and NOT address the issue.

I was with Crawford nearly 4 years and bent over backwards to help them succeed anyway I could, even at the expense of my family (ran out mid Thanksgiving dinner to help with a CAT). Struggled to climb the ladder as hard as I could and barely got anywhere, regardless of my devotion to the success of the company. 
Found out that although I had 3+ years with the company and 4 CIPs that new hires off the street with little to no insurance background were making substantially more money than me and voiced concerns to management who promptly found a reason to let me go. 
It's okay to take the training and experience they offer to advance elsewhere, just don't devote yourself to them or their success, because you're just a number to them. Even heard upper management say once that she could "hire trained monkeys to fill CSR positions."

I would never recommend Crawford & Company as a place of employment. They treat their employees unfairly and fail to follow through with promises of advancement. I worked there for a year and had to get out of their before I lost my mind. Management (especially the new Manager) have no idea what they are doing. They are sending their departments overseas yet still hiring new ppl just to string them along, its horrible. The previous reviews talking about how good Crawford is seems a bit sketchy. I can only assume that they are either part of management or new employees. The Waterloo branch has the worst turn around for New Hires vs Employee's quitting. They can't seem to keep an employee longer then a year and a half. A job should not have so much stress for such little pay. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
