Crest Support Services

I have worked with Crest for 10+ years now. Starting as part-time, moving into full-time in various different roles, into a Management position after a few years. I have had the opportunity to grown and learn within this agency being provided many different training opportunities to increase my skills and knowledge that have further allowed me to enjoy my job and the supports that we provide.

Crest can be a very busy and fast paced work environment so one should not expect to come in and sit behind a desk for long periods of a day. There will be days that are spent cleaning, days that are spent completing paperwork, and days that can be spent sitting out at the beach with someone in support enjoying the day. Our work is what we make of it and all are encouraged to help promote inclusion and assist people in support with being active and involved members of their community (where possible).

The hours can vary, full-time will work a 40 hour work week which will often include either a Saturday OR a Sunday in their work week (either working Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday typically). Outside of this part-time employees are usually needed to help fill some days through the week but primary focus on Friday-Monday each week and overnights.

One of the hardest parts of the job I would say is ensuring that we are following in-line with rules that are laid out for an entire group of people that may not always make sense for the person that we are supporting, yet we will still be required to abide by the same rule.

The most enjoyable part of every role I have filled in my time with this agency is the people that are supported. Having people greet me as I arrive to work or seeing the smile on their face when they see me makes every difficult part that my job may hold worth it in the end.

Crest management has left compassion for all at the door. Gossip stems from management. If you have an opion about up lifting environments while working here. Keep them to yourself. They constantly use scare tactics on staff and persons in support. 
Management is not qualified, a lot do not have proper schooling and get the position because they are favored. Management is bias and is completely in your face about it.If you are passionate about this field, this is not the place for you. They will take it all away in a matter of months.
Management will pit coworkers against each other to gain what they want. You are constantly scrutinized and made to believe you can do nothing right, and even tho you work 8 hours a week with a person, you know nothing. Management is always right, you are always wrong. Do not go to the board, even if it's in the chain of resolution, you will be a target. 
Union rep is in bed with management.

Starting at Crest you will come to work excited wondering what the day will be like, as everyday is different and people in support are great. 
 Management on the other hand is a joke. 
No other way to describe 90% of them. If you want to get any answers or have questions ... well good luck trying to get something besides “let me get back to you on that” ... that’s if your manager finds time in their lives to get back to you.... and then you won’t hear back.... ever. The communication at Crest is awful and it only makes everyone’s job harder and causes anxiety to people in support, as you can never give them an answer to whatever it may be. Everything is always last minute and staff are moved around house to house without their approval. If you are looking for a job at Crest, look elsewhere. You will be tossed around like salad ;)

This management team does not have the best interest of the staff or people assessing services. Crest is a horribly run organization because of the managers and executive director due to their main focus being money and not the well being of staff and clients. Where is our board members to back us up? Step up and help your people. Managers/ED quickly forget that without their amazing front line staff, this organization would be run to the ground with the lack of knowledge of each individual client and our day to day routines, none of you would succeed. Learn to respect your people.

Crest Support Services is probably the last place I would recommend working in this field. The rate of pay is so low, it’s hard to believe they have any staff left. The ED is an absolute joke. She is incredibly rude and treats her staff like dirt. She came to one of our staff meetings and only talked about herself. She tries to guilt people into working there by trying to make them feel bad for her. She addressed rumours about her but she gossips more than any other staff there. My manager was awful and he put me down constantly. You could not pay me enough to work for these people.

This place is a joke, pay is garbage, management is horrible. When they need you they kiss your *** but as soon as you're of no use to them they are quick to let you know you're disposable. Clients and some staff are great but that's as far as it goes for the positive. If you're able to keep your head down, take orders and be bullied by management this place is for you, if not go to one of the more respectable agencies in London. Oh yea and the Union is a joke all the reps have their lips on management behinds. 

Very different jobs when role is part-time compared to full-time

Lots of hours typically available but some locations can cause burnout faster than other locations/residencies within the agency

Funding/reimbursements for community outings like sporting events or other arts/culture/entertainment leisure

I had the greatest experience working at crest. The residents make every shift amazing and enjoyable. The management is so welcoming and listens to your concerns. I was skeptical working for Crest because of rumours, but that made me realize how much people just love to talk. There is really no negatives except the low pay, but the environment makes that worth it. This job has definitely opened many doors for me.

If a slum lord owned a group home it would be Crest support services. Horribly kept buildings. Shady management who would falsify records for accreditation and embezzle passport money, falsifying records to say clients went to activities when they didn't. Water temperature records were also falsified at the time 
for accreditation.  You're better off smothering your loved one with a pillow then sending them here.

Crest is a great place to get experience and then move on quickly. Management will be very kind at first and then slowly beat you down. The Executive Director loves you when she needs you and then is out to get you as soon as you don't jump at her beckoning call. They will will move staff around so they can build "cases" on them so they can fire them. Very dysfunctional place. Have lost a lot of great employees due to having them over worked.
