You are expected to do basic cleaning task such as wiping tables and most surfaces, changing garbages, linen bags, mopping floors, dusting. This jobs requires you do sanitize which is different than just cleaning. You deal with bodily fluids such as blood, urine and feces. It is part of the contract that we clean up areas and rooms for patients that have various disease such as c. diff, TB, pneumonia, MRSA and the list goes on. The work environment is very toxic, hospital staff views you as dirt, the union currently representing the employees at crothal employees at Joseph Brant is useless. It’s the same deal with most jobs: management sucks, you’re overworked and underpaid. Lazy workers get away with being lazy and rude with little to no consequence. Nurses talk down to you and more often than not don’t put the proper signage for terminal cleans (for diseases mentioned before). Most staff are extremely messy and expect you to be their maid. I will say that some departments are better than others, however, on the whole I have had more negative experiences with hospital staff than positive. Favouritism is huge here, and if you you’re not on the good list you get treated disrespectfully and all seniority is forgone. Benefits aren’t good , they’re outdated and might have been good 20 years ago,  but not now. dental caps off at $1500, $150 covered for a glasses. It’s not a good place to work for and morale is very low. beware if you decide to work here.

*most of my day at work are fun because of my jolly and lively co-worker but always busy in our workplace.
*what I learned working at Crothall are lots of things like cleaning different types of area for example offices and of course dealing with those professional people in the workplace, patient room and dealing with the patient, students room and many more. i even learned how to be more friendly because every day theres different types of people you have to deal for. I also learned how to extend my patience and skills on cleaning those areas.
*management for me its a bit of not satisfied because theres no consideration from them sometimes.
* the hardest part of the job is to deal with different types of people including my co-worker management and those people in my working area but I always have a big patience for them and able to deal with those hardship in my work place.
* being able to work by yourself with less assistance of the supervisor and able to work with those amazing people.

Drama filled, hard work for a really bad pay. People are mean and management doesn’t know how to manage. Segregation, discrimination, and zero compassion. Manager rolls eyes and yells at people for asking simple questions about the work place. 
Outbreaks and nurses and doctors almost NEVER wearing their PPE into droplet or contact precautions rooms. Unsafe working environment for the housekeepers and we’re shrugged off. 

Posted positions that they awarded to people and still never put them in that line they were awarded for almost a year. Rewarded another line when more positions are posted and still never put into it. Then will randomly put people into positions without posting them. 

I'm a housekeeper in a Cancer Hospital. I work in an outpatient area. When a patient is finished their treatment I am to clean their area. My day consist of cleaning beds, chairs, rooms, bathrooms, cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining a work area. I've learned the ability to manage multiple task in a pressured environment. I've also learned the ability to make informed decisions and evaluate situations with job priority. What I like about my current job is that I get to make a significant difference in patients lives by insuring them that they are coming into a clean environment and interacting with them in a positive way. I have worked with others, as well as independently, and have been successful in both positions.

Worked for this company through Joseph Brant Hospital for a year, upon giving my 2 week notice in October, I have yet to receive reimbursement payments from my vaccinations, my vacation pay and still have not been issued a record of employment. They’ve also checked off the “do not hire” box, after I went above and beyond working the day surgery floor, in which the staff praised me for my hard work weekly. No room for growth as their collective agreement caps you at minimum wage payment, not worth it for the work you are assigned, not to mention the union rep is next to non existent leaving the majority of the employees frustrated and unhappy with their job.

Large company with focus on top line growth and service mindset. Struggling with capital and HR investments to maintain Operational Excellence as they grow with aggressive price points.

Deep resources in a rapidly growing company with fragmented domain knowledge.

Lack of cohesion among senior management, senior operations/staff and line management creating a growing disconnect regarding strategic direction.

I hold a temporary part time weekend position with them right now. Also work on call the rest of the week! I work in all sections of the hospital but my weekend position is doing patient discharges, cleaning the room from top to bottom after the patient leaves. As well as cleaning NICU and Medical imaging areas. I love and get along with all my coworkers and supervisors, they are all amazing helpful people and have taught me a lot! The most enjoyable part of my current job, is having the sense I am putting in my part to help the health care industry. I also enjoy all the diverse people I meet on a day to day basis!

Absolutely no communication within the management team, and because I could only work part-time after the summer getting a hold of them to work out my bi-weekly schedule became a nightmare. 
Before the summer I lost communication with them for a month, and when I finally got to speak to someone I was told that I was terminated for not showing up for my scheduled shifts and after realizing there was miscommunication they rehired me. 
Overall, I enjoyed the work that I did and how friendly my coworkers were but I would not recommend working there until they get better management.

A typical day at work with Crothall is long  about 11 hours a day .
I gained good work experience . . The  management was good to me .
The hardest part of the job was the long hours the heat in the summer and the noise from the machines at work.  
The most enjoyable part was the wage and benefits

Being a part of a company that provides support services to healthcare institutions is a very noble calling.  I am proud of the work that our company does help improve the healthcare experience of patients.  I am also proud of the career development that we have offered to so many individuals.
