Crown Packaging had it's struggles while I was employed withthem. The company is American owned and went into Chapter 22 aprox 2 years after we started up the Calgary operation. Working closely with upper management to shed costs, the company emerged from bankruptcy after closing 2 satelite operations in Kelowna, BC. I assumed many roles with the company and became the corporate health and safety person responsible for improving and developning health, safety and environmental programs as well as assist in the development of a quality assurance program and implementation of 5S and HACCP programs.

The supervisor is incompetent and not reliable, neither personal nor machinery problem. lack of work ethics and management experience. they compete with their employees in terms of work experience.

Most if not all of the employees were full of grievances and hated with the management.
they hide the problems. Team lead has no respect and manners particularly to the new employees.
Union Steward pretend to be supportive, but it seems cannot be trusted as well.

Salary & time is not worth to the jobs. 

Worked for Crown for 28 years. Use to be a great place to work, now it's run from head office in Philadelphia and they don't care about their employees or Canadian law for that matter. Your are just a number to them. The management at the Weston plant are just puppets being told what to do from head office. Job security is very low, there is a very real chance that the business will be moved to their new facility in upstate New York. If you're looking for long term employment I would look elsewhere.

Poisonous workplace culture where bullying and backstabbing occurs constantly. Management is well aware that it is happening and does nothing. Rampant favourtism by management. Low-skilled/lazy support personnel. Insufficient training for machine operators/maintainers. Employee committee that ignores legitimate concerns. IT infrastructure which is decades obsolete. The most dysfunctional team I have ever worked with. I wake up everyday thankful that I don't still work there.

I was trained in PDN by basically someone who never liked training me . She shows you ABC the next will be HXYZ. Never received proper training in both positions,CSR MGR has a communication problem as she never replies on time if she ever. Bigger issues are left unanswered and when you call you leave a message and not return. A girl who was training me left before my training
 so the MGR  who I was to rely on basically she was a ghost- never there for help. She made a mistake of which everyone new and somehow
Made it about me.It’s an EVIL PLACE to work when you’re new

Work here if you do not want any kind of job security or to feel valued as a person. Crown products will always be necessary as long as there's a need for a cardboard box to put things in. But they will continue to function as a large manufacturing operation the gets by on antiquated workflow procedures where anybody can fill human function roles. People have no value in this organization.

when i worked there it was 4 on & 4 off - all 12 hr shifts. management did not breathe down your neck and there was always support, if required. Training was adequate and they also has profit sharing. it was non union and no one felt a union was needed as all employees were treated fairly

Unloading trucks and organizing the inventory. Receiving items and issuing parts while keeping track of all items in the computer system.

Management are fair and just and treat all employees well. They work well to keep the machine well oiled.

Coworkers are generally fine to work with.

Dealing with the heat inside the plant.

Meeting new people through delivery's.

Crown Packaging offers good pay and benefits with very little experience required. Work is a bit dull and repetitive. Management is pretty good and you're sure to meet good people that are helpful and respectful.

I spent 30 years of my life here. I bought a home, raised a daughter, and have a reasonable style of life in my retirement.  I worked for some of the finest people I have ever met and some of the worst. On balance...a pleasant experience.
