Very little job security, this companies suspension policy is like nothing I have ever seen before. They do this without regard or consideration of the persons career. Management is not there to support or listen. When you have a concern, you are not heard. As an advocate/voice for people supported this is a very big problem.
Staff would go behind me if told no, and call Scheduling to get a yes, leaving the house short staffed, I was endlessly trying to gain support from Management and told to bad deal with it, to spite knowing that without the staff the people supported were the ones going without. 
Most mouths we couldn't get food to the home due to short staffing. 
And the turn-over rate is so high, they're so open about it. HR is toxic, one of the most toxic. They have four titles here, people resources/ Human Resource/ licensing/ compliance, their job tilte will change within the conversation. 
The pay is low. Benefits are good. And the people you support make most of it worth it. 
There are better companies out there



A typical day involves collaborating with diverse teams to support program operations, from coordinating tasks to ensuring administrative accuracy. I learned valuable communication skills, especially in streamlining timesheet processes and resolving discrepancies. Management is supportive, offering clear guidance and fostering professional development. The workplace culture is inclusive, with colleagues readily sharing knowledge and working together to meet goals. The hardest part is managing tight deadlines for timesheet submissions while ensuring 100% accuracy, which requires meticulous attention to detail. The most enjoyable part is seeing the positive impact of accurate timesheets efficiency and team morale, as well as the continuous learning opportunities to refine administrative and organizational skills.

I love the people I work with and the residens. They are always ready to listen to the staff and because of that we are able to give them the maximum care and supports and this made my work alot easier.
The hardest part is when the residents sometimes refuse to listen to instructions or when a resident is agitated and you have to give him a space and protect the rest of the resident , so this gives me a troubled mind. I have learnt alot about how to tolerate,  patient and understanding other people .I'm more calm and I'm  not being judgmental again since I started the job. My work place is fun and productive.  We all learn everyday from the people we support on how to support them because everyday new behaviors and we all figure out on how to support them

I recently joined DASCH and completed the orientation. The training was clear, detailed, and well structured, which helped me understand my role and responsibilities. The trainers were patient, professional, and open to questions, and I felt supported throughout the sessions.

I learned a lot about policies, safety practices, and person-centered support. Even though there was a lot of information to take in, the materials and online modules make it easier to review at my own pace. The workplace culture feels respectful and welcoming, and I appreciate how the team values both staff and the people we support.

So far, the hardest part is absorbing everything quickly, but the most enjoyable part is feeling a strong sense of purpose in the work. Overall, I’ve had a positive start and look forward to growing and learning more at DASCH.

The most stressful part of working at DASCH is the uncertainty about whether your job is secure. Staff are there and then they are gone. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is different depending on the location. Many struggle with staff turnover.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The typical day st DASCH involves interacting with staff and those we support. They are the best part of the job, by far! Some very kind and caring people work here.

My experience working as a resident supervisor was a very steep learning curve with my manager providing little or no support/encouragement.   We were frequently understaffed, and had to work over time shifts (even though this was discouraged due to extra cost to DASCH).  There were times that client safety and staff safety were disregarded in order to "get things done".  Staff turn over is very high.

I would not recommend working for this agency.  It has expanded the number of homes it runs without consideration of appropriate levels of staffing per client/home, and what training is necessary in each home.

Dasch incorporation is a great organization with a well organized cultural entity. I received training from Dasch on dealing with client needs and provision of non-invasive assistance to the client.

Dasch incorporation is provided flexible work time and meaningful benefits to the employees. The most enjoyable part of working with the organization is not discriminating and provide a level playground to every employee.

I always feel happy when going to work and always like to do more on any assignment given to me with word of appreciations and encouragement every time from my immediate supervisor.

There is a great cooperation among the staff to achieve a common goal.

My experiences vary from one type and nature of job and from one place to another.However, most demanded long hours of standing movements and carrying things and some above 25kg.
At any rate, wherever, I worked gave me different experiences from which I learned things. I learned a lot about management of time in certain circumstances.The hardest part of the job has been when the demands went high. Attending to the demands and at the same time selfing or putting stocks received to where they belong.Being busy most of the day has been the most enjoyable part of all the jobs I did

This job can be one of the greatest experiences, having the opportunity to meet and work with amazing folk from all walks of life. You create amazing relationships with the residents you support, even if sometimes they can challenge you to the extreme. This is a stressful job because you deal with a lot of aggressive behaviour and sometimes violence, but if the upper-level management gave you the support you needed, it would be completely fine. There is a total lack of support from head office, but the on-site managers are amazing.

A typical day at work,  I would say is arriving on time, signing in and greeting the participants making sure everyone is around and seeing the task for the shift, work on them, provide all necessary needs appropriately and diligently, end of the shift make sure all paper work is done; from medications, logs, cash flow being recorded, task are completed and signed. Good management, nice and respectful workplace. The outings with participants have to be the best part of the job.
