What is the best part of working at the company?
People on the floor are great, you feel at home, and helpful. Place its partially clean environment, not exactly by standards. A mix of old and new machinery.
Mostly easy to operate. It's a multicultural environment for now.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management's incompetence is not only evident but also wreaks havoc on employees, creating immense stress and frustration. There's a complete absence of cooperation—just empty promises and no real progress. To mask their failures, they unjustly punish workers. The deceitful system stretches all the way to the top, leaving those at the bottom to suffer the consequences.

Such mismanagement deeply affects employee morale and well-being. It's disheartening when there's a stark disconnect between what management claims and the reality on the ground.

The lack of collaboration only deepens the problem, fostering a toxic culture of distrust. When workers feel unsupported and are subjected to unfair treatment, it results in higher turnover, burnout, and a pervasive sense of helplessness.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
With management newer been at fault. For every incident, they act differently depending on their mood or how you are.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When you start your day, it's not about work challenges; it's about the mood of management and sending people home when they have a line down, even for a short period, which makes people worry about the financial instability it creates.

I work for Dare at the Milton for a long time and since leaving there and finding a better job. I can look back on what a dreadful place this was to work at. Where to begin.

Typical work day. Normally frustrating. Fixing old broken equipment that maintenance should have fixed already.

Lots! But the most important takeaways I learned. Was there are better places to work, and I don't buy their products anymore.

Dealing with a supervisor who changes the schedule 3 times in a shift because it's a unorganized mess with no accountably so no action is ever taken. Head office and HR are profoundly unprofessional when dealing with them, on basic or important issues. I saw one good plant manager, and ended up leaving. 

Workplace culture was toxic when I was there. There are some very miserable people who find enjoyment sharing there misery out to new employees, and or everyone around them depending on the day.

Hardest part of the job was the constant drama between people on the floor with each other. Which managers wouldn't address or sometime encourage. Which resulted normally with a plethora of negative consequences. 

The most enjoyable part of my job was when everything worked relatively well, with minor breaks. The schedule wasn't changed numerous times. Certain people called in sick or booked time off so nothing was an issue between anyone on the floor. 

It paid the bills for a long time. However I wouldn't recommend working here.

I started off here as a temp worker and earned a full time position after completing my required hours (520).  Getting hired on full-time has many benefits including salary and job security, as Dare is unionized through UFCW.  I currently work as a reach truck operator in the Cambridge warehouse on night shift, and I love the people I work with.  Dare has a very friendly work force, and if you're ever stuck in a bind, need help, or finding yourself getting stressed out, you can basically reach out to anyone on the floor or in HR.  Dare is bus accessible for all shifts (excluding weekends/holidays, but nearest bus stop is a 5 minute walk away) Regular bus route stops right outside on weekdays.  Being included in the Union also has it's perks with Benefits, Pension and regular pay increases throughout the year and also a safety boot/shoe allowance once per year.  If you need some extra time off, you also have whats called "Floater Days" where you will be paid for your shift.  During busy periods, you also have the option of working unlimited overtime per week.

Working as an order selector was an enriching experience for me, largely due to the supportive team environment and thorough training provided. The camaraderie among colleagues made the workdays enjoyable and the tasks easier to tackle. From assisting with navigating the warehouse to sharing tips on improving efficiency, my team was always there to lend a hand. Their willingness to share knowledge and support each other fostered a sense of unity and collaboration. Moreover, the training program was comprehensive and effective, ensuring that I was well-equipped to fulfill my duties with confidence and accuracy. Whether it was learning how to operate equipment safely or understanding inventory management systems, the training instilled in me the skills necessary to excel in my role. Overall, the combination of a supportive team and quality training made my time as an order selector both fulfilling and rewarding.

Bad management, worse upper management, not everyone is treated equally but you will be told otherwise. There is a reason they always have an ad on Indeed 365 days a year. They just don't care about anyone and it makes life miserable. The only positive thing I can say is that OT is rarely mandatory and you are in and out in 8hrs consistently.  Training on jobs specifics is mostly a 'figure it out' system with minimal training other than safety certifications for machinery operation being the only exception. Hardest part of the job is knowing that no matter how good you do your job it doesn't matter in any way at all to them which makes no one in the building motivated to do well.

They never practiced cleanliness, and being a diabetic whenever my sugar went low they would not allow me to take a break and treat my sugars and always told me that I had to wait to treat my sugars till break time and they were not respectful of my mental health

They never practice cleanliness they were never respectful of peoples mental health. We’re always disrespectful and never let me treat my sugars when they weren’t really low and always told me to treat my sugars at break time even when my sugars were out of 2.1.

Really horrible and real ignorant

Really ignorant people and all the bosses were so rude and disrespectful

my co-workers were more than happy to help me through my training period. They answered any questions I had.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Asking my Supervisor a question and having him lie to my face! He let me go right after that without reason!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone got along pretty good as there was different cultures in my team. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I always went in early to chat with the afternoon workers ( I worked nights ),  chatted with my co-workers then proceeded to the office to see what needed to be done for the night and the following day. Prior to my shift, I would grab a crown reach truck and a RF scanner. I learned something new everyday!

Expect to work many unexpected hours outside of business hours and not get recognition or reimbursed in any way.  Systems are used poorly, processes are up in the air.  There is a high school nature to the management team - lack of maturity - lots of manipulation - which has developed a culture of keep your head down and don't say much.  You will be locked into a role if you're good at it.  Roles and responsibilities overlap.  And their 'experts' are not experts, or if they are, they are enslaved into the convoluted Dare-way.  Lots of room for improvement - if you're up for it - they need you.  80% of the people that work there don't say much, the rest actually care and are trying to drive change, very frustrating.  Regardless, most of the people are lovely though.

What is the best part of working at the company?
A clean, safe environment. Good co-operation from management and fellow employees. The pay is reasonable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working in a factory can be fast-paced and stressful at times, but gaining experience and knowledge of the job makes it so much easier to tolerate.

It is a good and positive work environment. The people generally work well with each other.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
If machinery and equipment is running well then the day goes well. When machinery breaks down then there can be some challenges until the machinery is up and running again.

Dare Cambridge is one of the most toxic work environments you could ever work in the management and supervisors are not leadership material. They don't hold anyone accountable the company claims to be about family but this is the furthest thing from the truth over all moral is low. I would not suggest anyone work here at all you cant even talk to head office about any issues because they don't care and it shows turn over rate is over the top and i can't blame people for leaving. If head office would actually talk to its people on the floor instead of treating them like they have the plague things could be sorted
