As a DDA employee, management does not care about you. They are entirely inflexible to anyone with their OWN life and stresses. Do not expect to be able to take time off for something that comes up in your life that does not meet their extremely specific guidelines of acceptable time off. In my experience, the training was non-existent and I felt completely unprepared for my role. Although they are generous in the vacation they give and ability to earn extra vacation days on stat holidays, DDA makes it near impossible to actually take your earned vacation days. They are also extremely cheap as an organization and this is apparent in how they treat their employees as well as their ability to cover shifts when employees call in sick. Overall, if you have even somewhat of a busy personal life, this is not the organization for you! 

A typical day of working at home, is I would contact all of the people in our data base, and ask if they have any clothing to donatem, and house hold items, and if they do, I would arrage a pick up time for the donations, by letting the donar know what time the truck is coming, so that they could have the items ready in a bag outside on their front porch with DDA written on the bag.

There were no co workers to deal with, because I worked at home. The hardest part of the job was
when some of people who promised to donate forgot to follow through, even if some one else reminded them. But for the most part 86% of mine did follow through.

The most enjoyable part of the job was when I would count how many promises of donations I got per hour, and if it totalled to 6.5-7 per hour then I knew I met my quota, and that I had done a great job.

Working at DDA has provided me with valuable professional experience and has helped me develop strong workplace skills and professionalism. However, beyond the positive work environment, the compensation has been a significant concern.

Having worked at DDA for over a year as a respite staff member, I have observed that there are very limited opportunities for wage increases within respite caregiving roles, regardless of experience or tenure.

The respite care coordinators are supportive when it comes to providing resources and assistance for respite programs. However, there appears to be little opportunity for career advancement, and I have not seen much evidence of efforts to promote staff from their current positions into other caregiving or developmental roles within the organization.

I worked here for a year but I had to quit due to management and my own health safety. As an older women, I was deeply concerned for my safety working here due to managements unprepared and unprofessional attitude towards workers / clients safety. If you care about people with developmental disabilities and want to make a positive impact in their lives ... Don't work here! Management is incredibly uneducated (many of them used to work at Woodlands until the government shut it down for systemic abuse of clients!) and they will use fear tactics to bully employees into submission. They will bully / punish you if:
A) you advocate for clients rights
B) you advocate for your workers rights
C) ever question their viewpoint on anything

Beware! Beware! And beware! Not worth it, trust me. 

Highly toxic management, no job consistancy, your position is always in jeopardy, you will be transferred to any other job location anytime and your working hours can be changed anytime without notice, almost all human rights are being violated at this place. Work life balance is zero ,your leve request will be always refused. Management including human resources play any dirty game to take revenge on an an employee. Work place gossiping is a regular thing in almost any work location, there is no much unity among the employees. 
Clients are great , much more understanding and kind than this management.
Decent pay and benefits are a positive, I don't recommend this place to anyone.

The manager seemed overworked and did not seem like they had a good balance between their personal life and work. The management style is unfavourable to new hires, as they throw you into the job instead of leading and assisting you. The manager at times was unprofessional, manipulative, and insincere. The pay was good, and working with the clients was easy-going, but I felt uncomfortable working with the manager at times.

Working with unique individuals. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with some managers who had too little time working on the front lines, and seem to care more about policy rather than people. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
N/A, I did not work in an office. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meet with individuals at agreed upon times. Work on goals with them. Some paperwork/notes.

The company itself is good but Residential Services is not a place I would recommend to work.  A toxic work culture that resorts to intimidation and bullying rather than support and collaboration.  Those in upper management appear inept and have an ineffective style of management that leads to low morale in employees.  Overall, the company needs a refresh and new leadership where employees feel valued and supported.

The job is OK and nothing special. Love working with residents and some of the staff are very helpful and kind. As I am worked for a few houses, I got to know many managers, staff and residents from each house and learnt a lots.  However, the manager from Azure house in Richmond is very rude to the staff. I think he has mental health problem. I feel bad for those working at that house. Management is fake and pretend to care about the employees.

They take care of their employees better than many others, especially if staff follow the guidelines. Strict rules regarding salary, overtime and fuel reimbursement are followed. Work safe coverage is given and senior employees are respected.
