Worked a 2x2 rotation, working either on days or nights for 12hrs. Normally receive a list of all the equipment used underground and as best as possible as instructed by the Supervisor my job was to simply shift service (lube/oil) the underground Drills as they were first priority followed by the remainder on the list. 
Also would assist in changing engine belts, filters, prep the removal and replacing of tires on Equipment prior to Fountain Tire employees performing their duties. Also remove and replace some hydraulic hoses. I work solo and if there's any trouble shooting I can't solve I would call a mechanic and learn more from there. 
Management is fairly good and straight to the point but always helpful. Gained hints and tips on maintaining the equipment used and operated from myself and co-workers. I like to treat the way I would want to be treated, with respect and that goes a long way no matter where you are. 
Safety is a high standard and the Mines drill into you. If you see someone or something unsafe, report or stop the individual from a potential hazard.If you're not sure and/or don't have the confidence of performing the job, just ask somebody and for sure somebody will you. 
That's what I like about the Mechanics and Miners I work with. We're all there to work but at the same time we learn from each other and we help each getting the job done safely.  
Bare in mind every company have its pros and cons. 
Don't find anything really hard about the job. 
My only con(s) about the work would be the flights. At the moment it's difficult getting onto the Edmonton flight where of course I can save plenty of money. But unfortunately not everything is what it seems.

They really do try to foster a respectful workplace even though there are people there who make it difficult. At least they are trying and working towards a better and more inclusive work environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Certain people refuse to do their jobs and expect everyone else on their team to pick up the slack and do their share as well.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s becoming more safe and inclusive but has a long way to go still but they changes are coming from the top and upper management is trying to make it better after many years of not seeing the problems.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work a 12 hour shift that can either be very routine or completely chaotic depending on the situations

Great crew of guys & great leadership 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Night shift & the extreme cold conditions

Very good we have leader that is always there to help you

Open pits mining is a fast paced operation & still achieve your daily targets in a safe n mb manner

One of the best experiences of my life as a Welder/QC. Yes you are truly isolated from the rest of the world but the trade off is the pay was awesome and the contractors were great and rewarded well. The respect was unlike what you get here in Calgary, everyone was treated like gold period. Being a part of that project was a chance of a lifetime. Being treated with respect and kindness and being rewarded made all the difference.

I would work with them again... working in Diviak Diamond Mine  was a  experience that I enjoyed a lot.. The plane ride was great and it does help to get to and from the camp site... The accommodations where clean and warm and very spacious... The food was very healthy oriented for everyone and guests  and helpful to specific dietary needs and provide a wide variety of food options to choose from....

Through my 15 years with Diavik I had learnt a lot with a lot of different great co workers sharing their work experience. I enjoy my two weeks in, two weeks off rotation. Night shift and day shift every two weeks return from work. I have meet a lots of great people that have came and gone.

Excellent place to work to improve your lifestyle and financial position. Great benefits and share options. Opportunity to advance your career and education. You will meet people from all over Canada and make lasting friendships. Everyone treats each other with respect!! no matter what your position is at the mine.

Great place to work , the mine is winding down now but is still a great place to work . You’ll gain some good experience on surface and underground equipment and work with some great people and some not so great ones !

Arriving early for safety meeting and learning about all safety protocol on work duties. 

Learn new things everyday, hands on training and meeting new people.

Work as team member efficient and effectively.

Very busy place. Good place to work. Lots to learn everyday.
