The new management does not allow employees to stand up for themselves or disagree with them in any way. You will be continually spread thin and be expected to do work way above your job description  with no appreciation. You will be expected to go above and beyond and it still won’t be good enough. If you voice your concerns or opinions to managers you will continually be disregarded. There is no respect for employees needs and no help from the managers. The new management has fired employees that have dedicated themselves to the company for 5-10+ years. If you ask for a pay raise you will be shut down immediately. The only reason I stayed at this company was for the few friendly and caring employees. That being said there aren’t many of them working there. The managers are biased and hired their friends and family over qualified candidates. HR will not help you and display favouritism, you will feel scared to voice your concerns. Do not be work here! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Your co workers are great. It’s a  casual environment where you are left to do your job. The benefits are pretty good. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Can be cut throat. They are in a period of down sizing. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Casual environment, where you are left to perform your job. Senior management is in Qc so not directly involved. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Shifts are not my cup of tea. They don’t run a continuous improvement environment. Very difficult to work in their antiquated systems.

By far the worst job I've ever had, management was always breaking safety rules weather it was AHS rules including making workers come in with COVID and asking workers not to tell anyone that they were sick because they built a culture of not wanting workers to think they are allowed. The employee turnover rate was also very alarming as well most new worker were gone after a day or two and even long time employees left due to management. When I quit the only thing they said was we would like the high vision vest back, there was no why are you quitting or anything.

They do not care about their employees, especially long time workers. They push and drain you dry and have zero management skills. They only promote the people that are wealthy and connected. Basically the company runs on nepotism and favouritism and as soon as you prove you better at higher ups positions, they get scared and find and dig on anything to get rid of you. Their HR is a job and completely unprofessional (one talks badly about employees to other staff members and the other is a lackey that doesn’t know what she’s doing) 

This place should close their doors!

The management team is unfriendly and unhelpful.  You feel bullied and unappreciated. Majority of employees dislike it there but stay cause have been there a long time.
There is no accountability and I've never seen so much money wasted in throwing out products.
The working conditions is very poor. In there warehouse they have multiple pidgeons that leave their droppings everywhere is not safe.

Long history and customers have been returning for years. Biggest complaint is of the customer service in the warehouse and yard! Forklift breakdowns, an old ordering style, lack of signage and a management that does not have good communication with the union staff. Customers have had enough and often go and get their own products because they are tired of waiting. Very confrontational atmosphere and this is known by management but they don't address this or employee concerns very promptly.

While I worked at Dick's Lumber there was always the sense I was replaceble.  There was training events 2-3 times a week in the conference room.  Product knowledge mostly.  Job culture sucked the life out of you;  it was a competition between associate to see how to one up each other to the managers.  The managers fired the most popular employees to punish the others for poor performance all the while letting you know the y wish they could find some reason to fire you.

If you want a job is all I can say that’s positive.

I do not find this job stressful, other than not getting enough work to do.

It feels like working in a retail store.

Punch in and punch out, it’s an hourly position and there isn’t enough work scheduled.

The crew in EWP, best work atmosphere I have ever encountered

Not really any stress, it's pretty laid back if you're a hard worker

Awesome, everyone is nice and understanding (even managment)

Work hard and go home, what more could you want

Most of the staff is great, some are nepo-staff that don’t do any work whatsoever. Every level of management is a new level of horror. Customers constantly complain about them but due to the amount of corruption within the ranks nothing changes. They will only work towards their own benefit over actually leading a cohesive team of employees. All sorts of back door deals with certain customers and staff.
